Butternut AI review
An affordable AI builder for portfolios and small business sites, with basic ecommerce.

Butternut AI is a web-based AI website builder for portfolios, business websites, landing pages, and blog-enabled sites. It can generate a site from a prompt, resume, LinkedIn profile, or business description, then lets users edit pages, sections, text, images, styling, and code through a visual editor and AI commands. It suits freelancers, professionals, creators, and small businesses that want a managed website without assembling separate hosting and publishing tools.
Pricing is split between portfolio and business plans. Portfolio Starter costs $5 per month and includes a Butternut subdomain, AI building from a resume or text, 20 additional AI credits, visual editing, 10 GB hosting, free SSL, responsive layouts, backups, maintenance, and automated SEO. Portfolio Pro costs $12 per month and adds custom-domain connection, removal of Butternut AI branding, 200 additional AI credits, AI-generated blogs, 100 GB hosting, forms, submissions, custom scripts, code blocks, embeds, and a newsletter section. Business Starter costs $20 per month with one custom domain, unlimited pages, sales for products, courses, and services, and PayPal and Stripe acceptance. Business Pro costs $69 per month and adds two custom domains, a custom AI chatbot trained on business data, WhatsApp integration, 300 AI credits per month, 200 GB hosting, and priority support. A free plan and a five-day free trial are also available.
The platform’s strongest fit is for prompt-led site creation combined with straightforward visual refinement. SEO metadata, sitemaps, robots.txt, blogging, Google Analytics, contact forms, lead capture, custom code, and third-party integrations extend it beyond a simple landing-page generator. However, the product remains a focused website builder rather than a full ecommerce platform: its FAQ says businesses needing full ecommerce functionality may require a specialized service. It also does not provide website export. Choose Butternut AI for affordable portfolios, landing pages, and small business sites; choose an alternative when advanced ecommerce or exportable site files are essential.
