BlockAds is a free, open-source Android app for system-wide ad and tracker blocking. It filters ads, trackers, phishing domains, malware, and malvertising through DNS-based controls. On devices without root access, it uses a local VPN tunnel; rooted devices can use Root Proxy routing through iptables. Its audience is Android users who want device-wide filtering and control over DNS requests, not people looking for habit routines, reminders, streaks, or progress tracking.

Its strongest area is filtering flexibility. BlockAds includes AdGuard DNS and EasyList, supports custom block and allow rules, and can compile custom filter lists from raw URLs. DNS-over-HTTPS is supported, as are per-app filtering and app bypass controls. Optional HTTPS filtering adds another filtering route, while real-time DNS query logs provide searchable and filterable visibility into requests. Scheduled filter-list updates and boot reconnection support ongoing device configuration.

The product is a focused utility rather than a broad productivity app. Its listed platform is Android, and its routing model differs by device state: non-root devices use a local VPN, while rooted devices can use iptables-based Root Proxy mode. WireGuard profile imports and local settings backup extend its Android configuration options. Choose BlockAds if your goal is local, customizable ad and tracker blocking on Android. Choose a dedicated habit tracker instead if you need habit creation, reminders, streaks, check-ins, or progress views.
