BitMatch is free, open-source software for photographers, YouTube creators, filmmakers, wedding and event photographers, and small productions. It copies camera-card media to multiple local destinations and verifies the resulting copies. The storage model is bring-your-own, with support for external-drive backup and RAW photos. A signed downloadable build is available for macOS, while iPhone and iPad versions can currently be built from source. BitMatch is aimed at controlled media offloading rather than general-purpose consumer photo storage.
Its strongest area is verification and job management. Users can choose SHA-256, MD5, or byte-by-byte verification modes, compare folders after copying, and detect camera media with folder labeling. Photographer jobs, card tracking, reusable folder recipes, a transfer queue, retries, and transfer history provide structure for repeated shoots. The optional SFTP backup feature on Mac extends the destination choices, while PDF, CSV, JSON, and ASC MHL inventory generation supports documentation and media records.
BitMatch suits users who want a free workflow for copying cards to destinations they manage, especially when verification and reporting matter more than cloud storage. Its open-source model avoids a paid tier structure, but the product is beta software and its platform coverage is narrow. iPhone and iPad use requires building from source, which makes those versions less direct to adopt than the signed macOS build. Choose BitMatch for verified card-to-destination workflows and detailed transfer records; choose another category fit if you primarily want automatic consumer cloud photo backup or broader platform availability.
