BeatMaker 3 review
A capable iPad workstation for producers building sample-based tracks.

BeatMaker 3 is an iPad music-production workstation for musicians and producers creating beats, sampled instruments, patterns, and complete songs. It combines a drum machine, keyboard sampler, audio recording, MIDI sequencing, sample editing, mixing, automation, and plug-in support in one paid app. Its workflow is centered on sample-based production, with tools for importing samples and MIDI files, recording external audio, arranging scenes or timelines, and exporting finished audio. Support for external MIDI controllers and USB audio interfaces also suits producers building an iPad-based setup.
Its strongest area is the depth of its production toolkit. The drum machine provides 128 trigger pads across eight banks, while the keyboard sampler supports keygroup editing and modulation. Producers can chop, slice, time-stretch, and pitch-shift samples, then shape projects through audio tracks, timeline or scene-based MIDI sequencing, mixer routing, sends, effects, and automation. Track limits are listed as unlimited, and finished masters or selected tracks can be exported as WAVE or AAC audio.
BeatMaker 3 also fits into a broader iPad music ecosystem. Audio Unit V3, Inter-App Audio, and Audiobus 3 support extend its plug-in and app connections, while MIDI input and output support external control and MIDI file import. Ableton Link enables synchronization, and projects or files can move through Dropbox, iCloud, AirDrop, iTunes File Sharing, and the Files app. It is a strong choice for iPad producers who want sampling, sequencing, recording, and mixing in one focused environment. Producers needing desktop or non-iOS support should choose another platform.
