Azure Notification Hubs review
A mobile-focused notification service for Azure teams sending large-scale pushes.

Azure Notification Hubs is Microsoft's managed push-notification service for sending messages from cloud or on-premises backends to mobile applications. It suits Azure teams that need to reach large device audiences across iOS and Android, whether for enterprise messaging, authentication, news, marketing, gaming, or event notifications. Its core toolkit covers broadcast delivery, individual device or user targeting, audience tags and tag expressions, cross-platform templates, localization, silent notifications, personalized notifications, and REST APIs for hub and registration management.
The published plans provide a clear progression. The Free plan includes 1 million pushes per subscription per month and has no SLA guarantee. Basic costs $10 per namespace per month and includes 10 million pushes per subscription per month, plus 99.9% service availability for properly configured applications. Standard costs $200 per namespace per month and adds rich telemetry, scheduled push, bulk import, multi-tenancy, and the same 99.9% service availability commitment for properly configured applications. Teams can therefore start with a free development tier, move to Basic for higher-volume production delivery, or choose Standard when operational insight and multi-tenant administration matter.
Platform fit is a central strength: Notification Hubs connects with Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Windows Push Notification Service, Kindle, and Baidu. That makes it practical for applications coordinating delivery across multiple mobile notification ecosystems, while its REST APIs support backend-led management. The focus is narrower than an omnichannel engagement platform: web push, desktop push, and automation workflows are outside the product's stated scope. Choose it for backend-driven mobile notifications at scale; choose another tool if browser or desktop delivery and workflow automation are core requirements.
