Autodesk ReCap Pro is reality-capture software for engineers, designers, surveyors, and AEC teams. It imports laser-scan and photogrammetry data, then supports point-cloud viewing, cleanup, registration, measurements, annotations, mesh reconstruction, and export. Its input coverage spans terrestrial laser scanners, handheld and wearable SLAM scanners, vehicle-based scanning, aerial LiDAR, and UAV imagery, making it suited to projects that combine multiple capture methods.

Its strongest fit is the Autodesk ecosystem. ReCap Pro connects with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, InfraWorks, Autodesk Drive, and Forma Data Management, while cloud collaboration and storage support shared project workflows. Export options include E57, PTS, RCP/RCS, FBX, OBJ, GeoTIFF, NWC, IFC4.0, STL, USD/USDZ, and other formats. API access and command-line project creation add options for teams that need repeatable or automated processing.

The product also stands out for breadth rather than a narrow capture workflow. Mesh classification and refinement, scan-to-mesh reconstruction, manual and automatic registration, measurements, markups, tags, and annotations cover substantial post-capture work. A 30-day free trial gives teams a way to evaluate the workflow, but there is no free plan, and real-time capture is not part of the feature set. Choose ReCap Pro when varied scan inputs, Autodesk interoperability, and project processing depth matter; look elsewhere if you need live capture or a free starting tier.
