Autodesk Fusion review
A broad product-development platform for design, engineering, electronics, and manufacturing.

Autodesk Fusion is an integrated platform for product design, engineering, electronics, manufacturing, and product data management. It is aimed at mechanical engineers, product designers, machinists, CNC programmers, electronics engineers, manufacturers, and cross-functional product development teams. The software brings together 3D modeling, assemblies, rendering, simulation, PCB design, manufacturing preparation, collaboration, and cloud-connected project data management. It runs on Windows, macOS, and the web, with Autodesk EAGLE listed as an integration.
Pricing is structured around commercial, personal-use, and educational access. The Autodesk Fusion plan is listed at $57 per user per month with annual billing and includes integrated CAD/CAM, real-time team collaboration, PCB design and electromechanical integration, drawing automation, and design configuration. The published plans also include Fusion for personal use, which is intended for hobbyist users and non-commercial projects with limited functionality, plus Fusion for educational use, which provides full features and functionality for qualifying students and educators. A 30-day trial provides another route for evaluating the commercial feature set.
The main strength is breadth: users can move from sketch constraints and parametric modeling through assembly motion analysis, rendering, animation with MP4 export, CNC toolpath generation, PCB work, additive manufacturing, and 3D print preparation. Cloud data management, version control, and collaboration support cross-functional work, while exports include STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP, DWG, DXF, and IGES. Fusion suits teams that want design and manufacturing workflows in one environment. Hobbyists with non-commercial projects can use the personal plan, while users needing only simple modeling may find the wider product-development scope unnecessary.
Autodesk Fusion pros and cons
- Where it wins
- Combines parametric, direct, surface, mesh, and freeform modeling
- Connects CAD, PCB, CNC, additive manufacturing, and collaboration workflows
- Supports Windows, macOS, and web access with broad format export
- Where it doesn't
- Commercial access starts at $57 per user per month on annual billing
- Personal-use access has limited functionality and excludes commercial projects
- Its broad workflow coverage may exceed the needs of simple hobby projects
