AudLit is a browser-based production tool for audiobook narrators and other voice performers. It brings manuscript reading, recording, retakes, cleanup, mastering, and export into a guided workflow, making it a fit for solo and small-scale creators who want help organizing production without installing software. Manuscripts can be imported in formats including DOCX, PDF, EPUB, RTF, HTML, and TXT, and the tool detects chapters. A voice-following teleprompter scrolls with the narrator; voice-following requires Chrome.
The workflow goes beyond basic recording. AudLit marks retakes and selects preferred takes by paragraph, then supports cleanup and mastering to ACX, broadcast, corporate, or custom specifications. Per-file compliance checks are available before export, and output formats include WAV and MP3. Reviewers can attach comments and voice notes to manuscript passages. The product also supports audition submission tracking and conversion of a booked audition into an audiobook project. These features suit narrators and reviewers coordinating around text; it is less suited to teams seeking remote recording, which is not supported.
Pricing has three options. Free includes cleanup and mastering plus ACX- and broadcast-compliant export. Per Book costs $24 one time and adds stackable, non-expiring use alongside those core features. Annual costs $99 per year and includes priority support; top-ups are available at $24 per 10 hours. AudLit runs in supported browsers on Mac and Windows, with Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Arc listed; no installation is required. It is a practical choice for budget-conscious narrators wanting guided production and standards-oriented exports. Those needing remote recording or verified exportable chapter markers should consider another workflow.
