Aptos is a public Layer 1 blockchain for developers building on-chain applications and organizations using blockchain infrastructure. Its smart contracts use Move, and developers can connect through documented APIs and SDKs or operate public full nodes. The network is suited to teams that want formal verification and parallel execution as part of their development approach. It is less suited to projects that require permissioned networks or prefer smart contract languages other than Move.

Move Prover is a notable part of the developer toolkit: it supports formal verification of smart contracts. Transaction pre-execution and flexible key management add further application-development capabilities. Block-STM handles parallel transaction execution, while AptosBFT provides Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus. On-chain governance covers network and framework changes. These features make Aptos a broad public-network development platform rather than a narrow contract-verification tool; teams should assess whether its Move-centered model fits their software and operational needs.
