AnimBox review
A free browser-based modeler with parametric, scripting, UV, and export tools.

AnimBox is a browser-based 3D creation studio for indie game developers, 3D-printing hobbyists, students, and technical artists. Its toolset covers polygon operations such as extrude, bevel, inset, boolean, mirror, and remesh, alongside UV editing, UV unwrapping, mesh cleanup, and retopology. It also supports parametric modeling through an OpenSCAD engine, JavaScript scripting through the Script Editor, and previews with materials, lighting, cameras, and animation playback. Projects are stored locally, and the application does not require installation or an account.
The free model is straightforward: AnimBox is available in the browser without paid tiers described. Local-first storage can suit users who want project files kept on their own system, while broad import and export support helps connect it to GLB, glTF, OBJ, FBX, PLY, STL, STEP, and Alembic workflows. Its ecosystem also includes Claude through a Model Context Protocol bridge for AI control. That combination gives technical artists and hobbyists several ways to move between procedural, scripted, scanned, and printable geometry without leaving a browser-based workspace.
AnimBox is more focused on modeling and asset preparation than on a complete animation or rendering pipeline. It includes preview materials, lighting, cameras, and playback, but the Control Rig and Animation editors are still in development, and sculpting is not part of the listed feature set. The application is also in active alpha, so teams seeking mature production tooling or deeper rendering and animation capabilities should consider a more established alternative. It is a better fit for users who value free access, parametric workflows, retopology, scripting, and flexible file exchange, especially for early-stage game assets, technical projects, education, and 3D printing.
