AlexCalc review
A free, cross-platform scientific calculator for expressions, units and complex arithmetic.

AlexCalc is a free, open-source scientific calculator for people who want consistent expression-based calculations across a browser, Android, iOS and macOS. It covers core scientific functions such as trigonometry, logarithms and square roots, while also supporting complex numbers in rectangular and polar forms, stored variables and unit arithmetic. Its range suits students, educators and individual users working through calculations; it is less suited to buyers specifically seeking equation solving, matrices or statistics.
The expression interface is a notable part of the product. Enter calculations by keyboard, plaintext, copy and paste, or on-screen buttons, then view them rendered in LaTeX. AlexCalc retains previous expressions in an input history, and light and dark themes are available. Units can appear in equations and be converted, while scientific notation is supported for input. The web implementation uses WebAssembly and performs calculations locally after loading; the project README also says the web app has no server-side dependencies after loading. That distinction may matter to users who prefer local calculation, but saving the page for offline use does not currently work reliably.
AlexCalc is a practical choice when a free calculator with device coverage, complex arithmetic and readable expression display is more important than a broader math suite. Android distribution is available through Google Play and F-Droid, and an iPhone and iPad app is listed in Apple's App Store. Support channels include email, community and documentation. Choose another tool if equation solving, matrix operations or statistics are central requirements; those capabilities are not part of AlexCalc's stated feature set. For routine scientific calculations and unit work, its combination of free access and open-source availability is the stronger fit.
