AKVIS Retoucher AI review
Deep restoration, reconstruction, and batch tools for professional desktop workflows.
Reviewed by iTechGuides Editors · Editorial team · Updated Oct 2026
AKVIS Retoucher AI is desktop software for restoring and retouching damaged photographs. It is designed for photographers, designers, archivists, and personal users who need to remove scratches, dust, stains, unwanted objects, text, and other defects. The software is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and supports RAW, JPEG, PNG, BMP, WEBP, and TIFF files. Its workflow can run through a standalone application or a plugin for compatible photo editors.
Its main strength is the range of restoration tools. AI-powered unwanted-object removal reconstructs the background after an object is removed, while All-Purpose Retouching handles large and medium imperfections. Small Defects Removal targets scratches, dust, stains, and specks. The product can also reconstruct missing photo areas, extend canvas borders, and provide color correction controls. Batch processing across folders makes it more suitable for repeated restoration work than a narrowly focused single-image utility. Integrations include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Corel PaintShop Pro, Corel Photo-Paint, and AliveColors.
Pricing is structured as one-time licenses. Home Plugin costs $87 and provides the plugin version with basic functionality for personal use. Home Standalone also costs $87 and provides the standalone version with basic functionality for personal use. Home Deluxe costs $98 and combines plugin and standalone versions with full functionality for personal use. Business costs $199 and includes plugin and standalone versions, full functionality, and commercial use. A 10-day free trial is available, but there is no free plan. Professional users and businesses should consider the higher tiers, while casual users may find the paid desktop model more than they need.
