Active Minds is a movement-based math learning platform for children ages 5–10. Its flagship Hoppy Math app uses a phone or tablet camera so learners answer challenges by jumping, reaching, comparing, and moving instead of relying only on touch controls. The curriculum covers counting, number sense, addition, subtraction, shapes, space, and patterns. Families, classrooms, and school pilots can use it for early mathematics practice, with adaptive difficulty, parent progress tracking, and ad-free play.

The free plan provides a first set of levels, camera-motion math, and ad-free access. Premium Monthly adds the full ages 5–10 curriculum, all levels, and progress tracking. Premium 6-Month and Premium Yearly provide premium access, with the yearly plan marked as the best value. The app’s central distinction is its camera-based, whole-body interaction: children can respond through movement without controllers, sensors, wearables, consoles, or other extra hardware. Camera processing happens on the device, while the adaptive system changes difficulty based on learner skill.

Active Minds fits families and education settings that want mobile-first, movement-based practice with parent reporting. It supports iOS and Android, offers email support, and lists GDPR compliance. The main trade-off is platform coverage: the product is deployed on mobile, so it is less suitable for households or schools seeking desktop, web, or broader device support. Choose it when physical interaction, early-math breadth, and ad-free practice are priorities; consider another math app when learners prefer conventional touch or keyboard activities, or when a non-mobile platform is required.

Active Minds pros and cons

  • Where it wins
    • Whole-body answers make counting, shapes, and patterns active.
    • Adaptive difficulty adjusts practice to learner skill.
    • Free plan is ad-free and includes camera-motion math.
  • Where it doesn't
    • Available only on iOS and Android mobile devices.
    • Premium pricing is shown in-app and may vary by region.
    • Movement-based play may not suit every learning preference.
