Choose the DualSense Edge if authentic PS5 features are your priority; choose the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded for competitive or fighting games; choose the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro if you want an asymmetric layout and Hall-effect hardware. These controllers target different kinds of players. The Edge is the only option here built around DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers, motion controls and deep PS5 system integration. The Victrix offers the most rear inputs, Hall-effect sticks and triggers, adjustable stops and a dedicated six-button Fightpad module. The Nacon combines an asymmetric layout with Hall-effect sticks and triggers, and supports wired or wireless play.
This guide compares what each controller actually changes, where each one gives something up, and which purchase makes sense for your games, platform mix and tolerance for charging.
Quick verdict
- Buy DualSense Edge: You want the complete PS5 experience, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, the built-in microphone, motion controls, profile switching and official PlayStation software support. Accept a shorter battery runtime, only two rear buttons and conventional, non-Hall-effect sticks.
- Buy Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded: You play shooters, fighting games or other competitive titles where four rear buttons, trigger stops, Hall-effect sticks and triggers, swappable stick positions and a six-button Fightpad matter more than Sony’s immersion features. It works with PS5, PS4 and PC.
- Buy Nacon Revolution 5 Pro: You prefer an asymmetric stick arrangement and want Hall-effect hardware with wired and wireless modes. It is a strong middle ground for PS5, PS4 and PC, but the cited material does not establish a rear-button count or the same level of PS5 sensory integration as the Edge.
What makes a PS5 controller “pro”
A premium controller can improve three separate things, and they should not be confused.
Input speed and reliability
Adjustable trigger stops shorten the distance needed for a button press. Extra rear buttons let you move actions such as jump, reload or crouch without removing a thumb from the right stick. Hall-effect sensors measure stick or trigger position magnetically rather than relying on the same physical contact design used by conventional potentiometers. That can reduce a common wear mechanism, although it does not make a controller immune to every failure.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Physical fit
Swappable caps, interchangeable stick layouts and different button modules let you tune the controller to your hand and game genre. Those options matter more to a player who changes between first-person shooters and fighting games than to someone who mainly wants the standard PS5 feel.
Console-specific features
Native PS5 functions are a separate advantage. Haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, motion sensing, the built-in microphone and system-level profile integration can make the DualSense Edge feel more coherent on a PS5 than a technically more configurable third-party pad. A controller can be better for competition while still providing fewer PS5-specific effects.

What you get
Sony positions the Edge as a high-performance, personalized PS5 controller. It includes the DualSense features that define the standard PS5 pad: haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, a built-in microphone and motion controls. Those functions remain available in games that support them, rather than being traded away for a purely competitive design.
The box includes alternate stick caps, two styles of rear buttons, a braided cable, a connector housing and a carrying case. The replaceable stick modules are important: if a module eventually develops a hardware fault, you can replace that module instead of automatically replacing the entire controller. Replacement availability and pricing are separate purchasing questions, however, and are not established by the cited material.
Profiles and software
Custom controls and swappable profiles are the Edge’s main software advantage. Sony supports firmware updates and profile editing through the PlayStation Accessories app on Windows PC. You can prepare profiles for different games, then switch among them rather than reassigning every control whenever you change titles. WIRED’s review summary praised the Edge’s high-end feel, physical customization, PS5 system-software integration and simple profile creation and swapping, awarding it 8/10.

Where the Edge falls short
The Edge’s battery estimate is the shortest in this comparison. It also has only two rear custom buttons, so it cannot match the Victrix’s four-button arrangement for games that demand several actions away from the face buttons. Its sticks are replaceable but not Hall-effect, so buyers specifically seeking magnetic sensing will need another option. The roughly $200 launch-level price is also substantial for a controller that does not extend battery life or rear-input capacity.
The practical trade-off is straightforward: the Edge gives up endurance and some competitive hardware in exchange for the most complete PS5 feature set and the least compromise in system integration.
Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded: the competitive and fighting-game specialist
Why competitive players look at it
TechRadar identifies the Pro BFG Reloaded’s Hall-effect sticks and triggers, four remappable rear buttons and adjustable trigger stops as core strengths. Hall-effect sensing addresses the specific wear concern that makes some players wary of conventional stick mechanisms. Trigger stops can reduce travel for rapid-fire inputs, while four rear buttons provide more accessible commands than the Edge’s two.
The controller is also modular. You can swap stick layouts and install a six-button Fightpad module. That combination is unusually relevant to fighting games: the Fightpad gives you a broader face-button arrangement, while the standard configuration can suit shooters or action games. The ability to change the physical layout is more consequential than a cosmetic shell change because it alters thumb travel and hand position.
Compatibility and connectivity
The Pro BFG Reloaded supports PS5, PS4 and PC. It can connect over 2.4GHz wireless or USB-C, giving you a low-latency wireless option and a direct wired mode. Its cited battery estimate is around 20 hours, substantially longer than the Edge’s review estimate and useful for tournament sessions or long stretches away from a charging cable.

The Victrix lacks haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. A PS5 game that uses those effects will not deliver the same tactile response as it would through a DualSense-family controller. That omission is deliberate rather than a defect: the design spends its complexity budget on modular controls, Hall-effect hardware and competitive adjustment.

Nacon Revolution 5 Pro: asymmetric layout with Hall-effect hardware
Who should consider it
The Revolution 5 Pro is the clearest choice for players who prefer an asymmetric stick layout rather than the DualSense arrangement. Nacon’s corporate filing says it launched in October 2023 under a PlayStation licence, supports PS5, PS4 and PC, and offers customizable controls in wired or wireless modes.
Its Hall-effect hardware targets the same long-term durability concern that motivates many buyers toward the Victrix. The filing reports more than 10 hours of battery life. That is longer than the Edge estimate but below the Victrix estimate in the cited comparison.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat the available specifications do not establish
The cited information does not provide a rear-button count, a detailed trigger-stop specification or a modular Fightpad equivalent. It also does not claim DualSense haptics or adaptive triggers. If those details determine your purchase, confirm the exact regional package and current product documentation rather than assuming that “pro” means every premium feature is included.
Feature-by-feature: which differences matter?
Immersion on PS5
The Edge wins decisively when your definition of quality includes tactile game effects. Its haptics, adaptive triggers, motion controls and microphone are part of the DualSense platform. The Victrix and Nacon can still control PS5 games, but the cited material does not credit them with those DualSense effects; TechRadar explicitly notes their absence for the Victrix.
Rear-button capacity
Two rear buttons on the Edge are enough to move a couple of high-frequency actions, such as jump and reload, without changing grip. Four remappable rear buttons on the Victrix support more elaborate layouts. The Nacon count is not stated, so do not buy it on the assumption that it matches either competitor.

Hall-effect and replaceable sticks
The Victrix is the most explicit Hall-effect choice because it applies the technology to both sticks and triggers. The Nacon is also described as using Hall-effect hardware, although the cited filing does not break down every component. The Edge instead uses replaceable stick modules. Replaceability can simplify repair, while Hall-effect sensing is intended to reduce a particular type of sensor wear; these are different solutions to different ownership concerns.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Layout and genre fit
Choose the Victrix if you want to move between stick layouts or install the six-button Fightpad module. Choose the Nacon if an asymmetric arrangement is your preferred baseline. Choose the Edge if you want the familiar DualSense-based design and do not need a modular layout.
Battery and cable habits
The cited estimates put the Edge at 5–6 hours, the Nacon at more than 10 hours and the Victrix at around 20 hours. Treat those as directional comparisons: wireless settings, headset use, vibration intensity and battery age affect actual runtime. If you regularly forget to charge, the Victrix has the strongest endurance case. If you mostly play near a USB connection, battery ranking matters less than features and fit.
Compatibility
The Victrix and Nacon are explicitly multi-platform controllers for PS5, PS4 and PC. The Edge is documented here primarily as a PS5 controller, with Windows PC support for firmware and profile editing through the PlayStation Accessories app. The supplied material does not establish a general PC game-compatibility claim for the Edge, so check the game and operating-system requirements before buying it for PC-first use.

PS5 single-player and first-party games
Pick the Edge. Its value is not the number of remaps; it is preserving the sensory and system features that make PS5 games feel different. The carrying case, alternate caps and profiles add convenience without requiring a third-party compromise on haptics or adaptive triggers.
Competitive shooters
Start with the Victrix. Four rear buttons, trigger stops, Hall-effect sticks and the longer cited battery estimate address common competitive priorities. Consider the Nacon instead if its asymmetric layout is more comfortable for your hands, but verify its exact rear-control configuration first.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Fighting games
The Victrix has the most purpose-built hardware because its six-button Fightpad module is designed around the genre’s face-button demands. The Edge can work well with a standard layout and custom profiles, but it does not offer an equivalent module in the cited package.
Mixed PS5, PS4 and PC households
The Victrix and Nacon have the clearest documented compatibility. The Edge is the safer choice when PS5 is the center of your setup and native features outrank cross-platform flexibility.
Players who dislike symmetrical sticks
The Nacon is the direct fit because its asymmetric layout is a defining design choice. The Victrix can also change stick layouts, giving you more experimentation. The Edge is the least suitable if layout is your primary reason for upgrading.
How to set up and use the premium features
DualSense Edge profile workflow
- Connect the Edge to a Windows PC and open the PlayStation Accessories app.
- Install any offered controller firmware update before building profiles.
- Create a profile for each game or genre, assigning the actions you use most often to the available rear buttons and adjusting supported controls.
- Fit the stick caps and rear-button style that suit your grip, then store the controller and accessories in the supplied case.
- Switch profiles when you change games instead of rebuilding the assignments each time.
The app and profile features are documented by Sony, but the exact on-screen labels can change with software updates. Follow the current prompts in the installed version rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Victrix configuration
- Choose the standard stick arrangement or the alternative layout that matches your game.
- Install the six-button Fightpad module when a fighting game benefits from it; return to the other module for genres where the standard arrangement is faster.
- Map the four rear buttons to actions you need while keeping both thumbs on the sticks.
- Use the trigger stops for short, rapid inputs and restore full travel when a game requires analog control.
- Use 2.4GHz wireless for untethered play or USB-C when you prefer a wired connection.
Nacon configuration
- Start with the asymmetric layout and confirm that your thumb position remains comfortable during a long session.
- Use wired mode for a fixed desk setup or wireless mode when you need to move around.
- Configure the controller’s customizable controls for the games you play most, checking the current Nacon instructions for the exact software process.
- Test every assigned action in a low-stakes game before taking the controller into ranked or tournament play.
Buying pitfalls to avoid
- Assuming “pro” means DualSense features: The Victrix specifically lacks haptics and adaptive triggers, and the cited Nacon information does not claim them.
- Confusing replaceable with Hall-effect: The Edge’s replaceable stick modules address serviceability; they are not Hall-effect sticks.
- Using battery estimates as guarantees: The figures come from a review comparison or a corporate filing and will vary with settings, age and use.
- Ignoring the rear-button count: Two buttons may be sufficient for your layout, while four can change how you play a competitive title. Decide the number of simultaneous actions you actually need.
- Buying for an unsupported platform: The Victrix and Nacon are explicitly listed for PS5, PS4 and PC. The Edge’s Windows reference concerns the Accessories app; confirm game compatibility separately.
- Overlooking regional pricing: The listed amounts are snapshots from TechRadar’s 2025 comparison, and the Victrix availability date was September 28, 2025. Check the current local price, stock and included accessories.
- Choosing features over hand comfort: A modular or asymmetric design is useful only if it remains comfortable. Test your grip, thumb reach and trigger position before committing to a long session.
Bottom line: match the controller to the compromise you can accept
There is no universal winner because each controller gives priority to a different outcome. The DualSense Edge is the premium PS5 choice: it preserves Sony’s haptics, adaptive triggers, microphone and motion controls while adding profiles, alternate caps and replaceable stick modules. Its concessions are the short battery estimate, two rear buttons, non-Hall-effect sticks and high price.
The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is the performance hardware choice. Four rear buttons, Hall-effect sticks and triggers, adjustable stops, modular stick layouts and a Fightpad module make it the most adaptable option for competitive and fighting-game players. Its concession is giving up DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers.
The Nacon Revolution 5 Pro is the layout-driven alternative. Its asymmetric design, Hall-effect hardware and wired/wireless PS5, PS4 and PC support suit players who know they prefer that geometry. Its cited specifications leave more questions about rear controls and PS5-specific effects, so confirm those details before purchase.
