PrivaMesh is an iPhone and iPad messenger that says it uses Solana to carry encrypted message data rather than keeping chats on a conventional company-operated messaging server. That can reduce the information held by the operator, but it does not make conversations anonymous or free of risk: transaction timing is public, the RPC provider can see your IP address, and the project reports no independent security audit.
What PrivaMesh is—and what “serverless” means here
PrivaMesh is a one-to-one text messaging app. The project says it requires no phone number or email signup and keeps identity, contacts, and chat history on the device, with keys stored in the iOS Keychain. Instead of running a conventional inbox or message database, it uses the public Solana network as transport for encrypted message envelopes.
That distinction is important: “serverless” describes the absence of a first-party messaging backend, not the absence of network infrastructure. The app still communicates through the Solana network and an RPC endpoint. PrivaMesh says the endpoint can be changed or self-hosted, but that does not remove the public chain’s observable activity or the endpoint’s ability to see connection information.
The project’s white paper identifies itself as version 2.0 (2026) and describes a native iOS client using a public, decentralized, append-only transport. These are the project’s descriptions of its design; they are not independent confirmation of how every live-network interaction behaves.

How the project says its encryption works
PrivaMesh describes a cryptographic stack built around an initial key agreement, evolving message keys, and encryption of message payloads. The project says it uses X3DH over Curve25519 for initial key agreement; a Double Ratchet with HKDF-SHA256 and HMAC-SHA256 for ongoing messages; and AES-256-GCM to encrypt payloads.
It also says messages are padded into fixed-size buckets and describes one-time stealth delivery addresses and optional cover traffic. Padding can obscure exact message size, but the project’s own limitations page says it still reveals a size bucket. Cover traffic is off by default, so users should not assume ordinary app activity is concealed by background traffic.
PrivaMesh says nickname discovery uses signed prekey bundles to associate published messaging keys with the identity that posted them. However, the app has no safety-number or fingerprint comparison flow. Encryption cannot by itself establish that the account you add belongs to the person you intended to contact.

- WEB3 & dAPP ACCESS VIA METAMASK — Connect to MetaMask and other browser extension wallets to manage NFTs, claim airdrops, and access dApps. A large screen and intuitive 4-button interface keep every transaction clearly visible before you sign.
- SEAMLESS FIRMWARE UPDATES & 30-DAY MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE — Apply security updates without resetting your wallet or migrating funds. Backed by Amazon's 30-day money-back guarantee — your purchase is risk-free.
These are implementation claims from the project, not proof of security. PrivaMesh says it has not had an independent security audit. Public source code can help outside reviewers inspect a system, but it is not a substitute for a qualified third-party audit or a guarantee that the deployed app and network behave as documented.
What the design does—and does not—hide
The strongest privacy argument is data minimization at the operator level. PrivaMesh says it does not keep an account database or message store, and that its fee worker can see an account and timestamp but not message plaintext or recipient. Keeping history and contacts locally also means there is less conversation content for the operator to retain centrally.
That is not the same as anonymity. According to the project’s limitations page, transaction timing remains visible on the public chain, and the RPC provider sees the user’s IP address and request timing. A published handle and the first message in a new conversation may also reveal who initiated contact and when. The chain retains ciphertext, not merely a transient delivery event.

- Works seamlessly with Android, iOS and desktop: Connect wirelessly or via USB-C to your phone or computer. Manage your crypto anywhere with our companion Trezor Suite app.
- Public activity: transaction timing is visible, and ciphertext messages persist on the public chain.
- Network metadata: the RPC provider can see the user’s IP address and request timing.
- Conversation starts: a published handle and an initial message can expose who started a conversation and when.
- Message size: padding reveals a size bucket rather than concealing all size information.
- Cover traffic: it is off by default, so it does not routinely mask whether a user is active.
The project’s claims about what its fee worker and infrastructure can see should be understood as descriptions of its design, not independently verified measurements of all data flows.

Recovery phrase risks and lost chat history
PrivaMesh says a recovery phrase restores identity and contacts, but not chat history. If you lose the phrase, the project says there is no account reset or support override, so the account is lost. That makes securely preserving the phrase essential—and sharing it dangerous.
There is a further caveat: the project warns that someone who obtains the phrase may be able to derive secrets for messages sent before the first reply. This is a project disclosure, not an independently reproduced attack. Treat the phrase as a high-value credential, keep it private, and never enter it in response to a request from someone claiming to provide support. The README warns: “We never ask for your recovery phrase. Anyone who does is trying to steal your account.”

Platform and feature limits
The project documents PrivaMesh for iPhone and iPad, with an App Store minimum of iOS 26.5 or later. Confirm compatibility in the current App Store listing before installing. The limitations page says iOS is the only platform with real use behind it; Android and Windows builds have not sent a message on mainnet, so they should not be treated as equivalent, established releases.
The app is intentionally narrow in scope. It supports one-to-one text messaging, while the project lists these features as unavailable:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Group chats
- File or media transfer
- Voice and video calls
- Multi-device synchronization
- Cross-device search
For anyone choosing a secure messenger, compare more than encryption labels: consider platform availability, contact verification, group and media features, recovery options, and the metadata exposed by the network path.

Vendor-listed plans and message allowances
The project README lists the following prices and allowances. These are vendor-published terms accessed in 2026, not independently confirmed App Store checkout prices; subscriptions and allowances can change. Check the current listing before paying.
| Option | README-stated price | README-stated allowance | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| PrivaMesh+ | $5.99 per month | 1,200 sponsored messages per month | Vendor-published recurring monthly terms in the README accessed in 2026. |
| Pro | $9.99 | 2,000 messages | The README excerpt reviewed does not specify a billing period. |
| Consumable packs | Price not stated | 100, 500, or 1,500 messages | The README says these packs do not expire; it does not state prices in the reviewed excerpt. |
Who should consider PrivaMesh?
PrivaMesh may suit an iOS user who values limiting the amount of account and message data held by a messaging operator, needs only one-to-one text, and accepts public-chain records and visible network metadata. It is a weaker fit for someone who needs group conversations, calls, media sharing, cross-device continuity, straightforward account recovery, or a way to verify a contact’s identity in-app.
The project is transparent about several consequential trade-offs, but its encryption and privacy properties remain project claims without an independent audit reported. PrivaMesh is therefore best viewed as an unusual, tightly scoped messaging design—not as a proven anonymous replacement for a mature cross-platform messenger.
