CapCut is the practical choice for most new video-editing projects. Adobe removed Premiere Rush from downloads on September 30, 2025, and says existing copies may stop working after September 30, 2026. If you already have Rush installed, treat it as a legacy editor and plan for a transition; if you need a currently supported editor across mobile, desktop, or web, CapCut remains an available option, with features that vary by platform and plan.
Is Premiere Rush discontinued?
Yes. Adobe removed Premiere Rush from Adobe.com and app stores on September 30, 2025. Adobe said installed copies could continue until September 30, 2026, but technical support ends on that date and the apps may no longer function afterward. The date has passed, so Rush should be considered discontinued rather than a dependable new download. Adobe also cautions that device or operating-system updates can affect the reliability and performance of an installed copy. See Adobe’s Premiere Rush discontinuation FAQ.
Adobe’s documentation describes Rush as a lightweight editor for desktop and mobile, with tools for editing, color correction, audio adjustment, titles, motion graphics, and social sharing. Those capabilities may still matter if you already have projects in an installed copy, but historic feature and plan descriptions do not make Rush a current purchase option. Choose CapCut for a new project
For a new edit, CapCut is the more practical of these two choices because its official materials describe current mobile, desktop, and web versions. Check that the specific tools you need are available in your chosen version and subscription tier: CapCut does not promise identical features across platforms, and advanced AI features are distinguished by plan.

Keep Rush only for an existing workflow you can still access
If Rush is installed and opens your existing projects, it may remain useful for a short-term task. Do not rely on it as a supported long-term workflow: availability has ended, technical support has ended, and Adobe says the app may no longer function. Preserve important project files and media, and avoid assuming an old installation will survive a device or operating-system change.
Choose Adobe’s Premiere route when continuity matters
Adobe names Premiere on mobile and Premiere on desktop as Rush replacements. Its discontinuation FAQ describes project handoff from Premiere on iPhone to desktop and said Android support was coming soon at the time of publication. Confirm the current handoff options in Adobe’s latest discontinuation guidance before planning a migration. The cited documentation does not establish that Rush projects can be imported directly into CapCut.

Check platform and plan details before committing to CapCut
- Captions and effects: Confirm the feature exists in your device’s app and the plan you intend to use. CapCut’s product pages describe features across its suite, but not every tool is included in every tier.
- Templates: If templates are central to your workflow, check on the exact platform you will edit with. Paid-template browsing and purchase are not supported on web or desktop; desktop template support is limited, while mobile and web support template functionality according to CapCut’s help pages.
- Cost: Review the price displayed at checkout for your region and platform, including applicable taxes. CapCut says those factors can change the price.
- Project transfer: Do not assume a Rush project will open intact in CapCut. The official materials cited here describe Adobe’s Premiere transition route, not direct CapCut conversion.
What replaced Premiere Rush?
Adobe recommends Premiere on mobile and Premiere on desktop. Adobe’s FAQ describes an iPhone-to-desktop project handoff and, at the time of that FAQ, Android support as coming soon. Because availability can change, check Adobe’s current replacement and migration details for your device before moving a project.
