If Postman works in your browser but not in the macOS desktop app, the problem is likely specific to the desktop client. If both fail, check Postman’s service status and your network, then contact support with logs and a screenshot. Before signing out or clearing local data, protect any work that exists only on your Mac.
First, identify whether the problem is desktop-only
-
Check Postman Status for a service issue.
-
Update Postman, then fully quit and reopen the desktop app.
-
In the app, choose Help > Clear Cache and Reload for errors such as “Unable to load data,” “Unable to fetch data,” or “You are offline.”

If both the web and desktop apps fail, the cause may be a service, account, or network issue rather than a Mac-only problem. Preserve any local-only work before trying sign-out or data removal.
Protect local work before signing out or resetting data
Postman syncs cloud changes when you are signed in and connected to the internet. If you use Postman without signing in, your work is local; Postman warns that signing out completely deletes this local data. Export it before signing out.
For signed-in use, signing out removes synced data from local storage, and signing back in restores it from the cloud. That makes signing out a recovery step—not a safe first diagnostic for unsynced work. Postman documents support for up to three devices signed in to one account at the same time.

Fix “You are offline” and data-loading errors
A working web connection does not guarantee that Postman can reach its services. Postman says communication with its servers requires secure WebSockets. A firewall, proxy, VPN, or network policy may block that traffic.
-
Try a different network, if available. If Postman works there, the original network path may be interfering.
-
Temporarily check whether VPN or proxy software is affecting the connection, following your organization’s security rules.

Resolve a “session expired” sign-in loop
Retry the browser sign-in flow
Postman desktop sign-in opens a browser. If it does not open automatically, open a browser yourself or copy the sign-in URL from the app. Complete the flow within five minutes of starting it in Postman.

If the session keeps expiring
Postman recommends signing in again when a session expires. For a repeated loop, its troubleshooting guide directs users to revoke active sessions and remove local data. Export local-only work first; use Postman’s linked removal procedure rather than guessing at a macOS folder location.
If your organization uses SSO
Use your organization’s configured Postman sign-in route. SSO availability documented by Postman is for Enterprise plans and Team plans with the Simple Security add-on; the organization’s setup can vary. If SSO fails, contact your Postman administrator or IT team rather than repeatedly trying a personal sign-in route. See Postman’s SSO documentation.

If the app opens but has rendering glitches, Postman documents a hardware-acceleration control under the macOS Postman menu. Disabling it and restarting may help; Postman notes that this can affect performance or CPU use. The availability of menu options can depend on app version.
Send Postman useful diagnostic information
