PortfolioDeck is a free tool Gift Egbonyi built to manage developer-portfolio content and sync edits to GitHub. Its pitch is aimed at a familiar maintenance chore: updating project and work details scattered across files, then committing and pushing those changes by hand. Egbonyi describes PortfolioDeck as a work in progress, so treat its capabilities here as the builder’s account rather than independently verified product claims.
Why Egbonyi built PortfolioDeck
In a DEV Community article posted October 6, 2026, Gift Egbonyi summed up the friction this way: “Not building the portfolio itself. Updating it.” The author says portfolio content such as projects, descriptions, work history, and case studies can sit across multiple files. A small change may mean jumping among files in VSCode, then committing and pushing the edits.
Egbonyi’s response was to build a web interface for managing that content, rather than change the portfolio-building process itself. The author’s stated goal was to make routine updates less annoying; the article does not report a measured time saving or a comparison with other tools.
What PortfolioDeck is described as doing
Egbonyi calls PortfolioDeck “a free portfolio content management tool for developers.” The tool is presented as a way to manage portfolio projects, work experience, and case studies in one interface, even when that material is stored across multiple files in the underlying portfolio codebase.

The author says changes sync to the user’s GitHub repository and that PortfolioDeck commits only files that have changed. That keeps the repository in the workflow: the tool is described as managing content and sending edits back to GitHub, not replacing the portfolio’s codebase.

It establishes how Egbonyi describes the intended workflow, but does not independently confirm current availability, uptime, security, terms, or whether every feature remains available today. Egbonyi also presents the project as a work in progress and invites feedback from developers who maintain portfolios.

The author lists React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Express, Prisma, PostgreSQL, and GitHub App integration as technologies used to build PortfolioDeck. That is Egbonyi’s description of the stack; it is not an independent inspection of the source code.

PortfolioDeck’s stated use case is narrow and practical: developers whose portfolio content lives in a code repository and who find it tedious to keep multiple content files current. If you already prefer editing those files directly, the article does not establish a reason you need a separate interface. If you would rather manage portfolio information through a web UI while retaining GitHub as the destination for changes, the approach may be worth exploring—but verify that the hosted service and the workflow you want are currently available.
