Poonawalla Fincorp reported consolidated profit after tax (PAT) of ₹374.85 crore for Q2 FY27, compared with ₹74.20 crore a year earlier. That is a 405.19% year-on-year increase, according to ICICI Direct—roughly five times the prior-year profit, not a 500% increase.

What did Poonawalla Fincorp report for Q2 FY27?

The quarter ended 30 September 2026. The company’s board was scheduled to meet on 9 October to consider unaudited standalone and consolidated results, according to its NSE prior intimation dated 28 September 2026. The figures below come from contemporaneous reporting: the underlying Q2 FY27 results filing or a company-hosted release was not available among the sources reviewed.

Measure Q2 FY27 Comparison or context
Consolidated profit after tax (PAT) ₹374.85 crore ₹74.20 crore in Q2 FY26; 405.19% year-on-year growth, as calculated by ICICI Direct
Consolidated revenue from operations ₹2,624.50 crore Q2 FY27 figure reported by ICICI Direct; no comparison figure established in the sources cited here
Consolidated total income ₹2,624.84 crore Q2 FY27 figure reported by ICICI Direct; no comparison figure established in the sources cited here
Net interest income (NII) ₹1,380 crore Up 80.6% year over year, according to The Economic Times, citing an exchange filing

What does “five times” mean?

₹374.85 crore is about 5.05 times ₹74.20 crore. The increase itself is about 4.05 times the earlier profit, or 405.19%. This distinction matters: a rise of 500% would mean the new figure was six times the starting figure.

How should the income figures be read?

PAT, revenue from operations, total income and NII are different measures, not interchangeable descriptions of the same amount. The reported ₹1,380 crore of NII is specifically the net interest income figure; it should not be substituted for the ₹2,624.50 crore of revenue from operations or ₹2,624.84 crore of total income. ICICI Direct reported the latter two consolidated figures, while The Economic Times separately reported NII and its year-on-year growth.

What is established about the reason for the profit increase?

The figures establish a sharp year-on-year rise in reported consolidated PAT, but the available Q2 FY27 summaries do not establish how much came from changes in lending margins, operating costs, provisions, credit costs or asset quality. Without the detailed results and notes, attributing the increase to any one of those factors would go beyond the available evidence.

Poonawalla Fincorp described itself in its Q2 FY26 press release as a non-deposit-taking systemically important non-banking financial company focused on consumer and MSME finance. That is company background, not an explanation of the Q2 FY27 result.

What comparisons are not available here?

The reported figures support a year-on-year PAT comparison and selected Q2 FY27 income measures. They do not provide a supported Q2 FY27 sequential comparison with the previous quarter, nor Q2 FY27 figures for asset quality, credit costs, margins, EPS or provisions. Those measures should not be inferred from a different quarter or from the profit increase alone.
