A Telegram alert bot for Polymarket is only as fast as its full path: the source makes an event available, a tracker detects and filters it, and Telegram delivers the notification. Polymarket and Telegram document interfaces for those separate jobs, but their documentation does not establish that a particular whale tracker is real-time, sub-second, or useful for trading. A credible implementation story needs the builder’s own architecture and timestamped measurements.

What a Polymarket-to-Telegram alert actually depends on

A whale alert is a pipeline, not a single API call. The tracker must observe a qualifying event, decide that it meets its rules, and submit a message to Telegram. Delays or failures can occur at each boundary, and a quick send request cannot make an upstream feed current.

  1. Event availability: Polymarket exposes data through its Data API and documents a separate WebSocket interface for real-time market data. The existence of a market-data stream does not establish that a specific implementation can obtain wallet-attributed trades or fills from it.
  2. Detection and filtering: The tracker must identify the relevant wallet or activity, apply its definition of a “whale,” and decide which events merit a message. The data source and fields, thresholds, exclusions, and deduplication rules are implementation-specific.
  3. Message delivery: The bot makes an outbound request to Telegram. Telegram documents an HTTPS-based Bot API, but that interface documentation is not an end-to-end delivery guarantee.

Polymarket’s Data API v2 documentation describes wallet portfolios, trade and activity feeds, market state, and ranked boards. It also distinguishes condition, market, event, and token identifiers; those IDs are not interchangeable. A tracker should use the identifier appropriate to the data it is joining rather than assume that similarly named entities represent the same thing.

Choosing and handling Polymarket data

Use the feed that matches the event you need

The Data API documentation describes public routes that do not require an API key or token, along with wallet and activity data useful to a tracker. Polymarket also documents a real-time WebSocket interface for market data. These are different interfaces: market-level streaming data should not be described as wallet-level trade attribution unless the specific feed and implementation demonstrate that attribution.

For a build story, state exactly which source supplies the alert-triggering event and which fields the tracker reads. If events are polled from a feed, say so; if a stream is involved, identify what it actually exposes. Without those details, “I added a real-time wallet tracker” claims more than the public interface descriptions prove.

Preserve state across pagination and API errors

Polymarket documents cursor-based feed pagination and a data response envelope. Cursors are opaque: treat them as continuation tokens, not values to construct or interpret. When advancing through pages, carry forward the same wallet, event, and other filters so that paging does not silently change what the tracker is watching.

The documentation also identifies HTTP 429 and 503 responses. A 429 may include Retry-After; respect that signal rather than immediately retrying in a tight loop. A production tracker should retain enough cursor or checkpoint state to resume safely, and should make retries idempotent so a repeated page does not create duplicate alerts. Those are engineering practices for handling the documented pagination and failure modes, not evidence that any named tracker implements them.

Separate sending alerts from receiving bot commands

Telegram’s Bot API is an HTTPS interface; its documentation describes bot requests made using a URL containing the bot token. Keep that credential on the server and out of source code, public logs, and client-facing pages.

For an alert-only flow, the bot’s outbound send operation is distinct from how it receives user commands or configuration. Telegram documents getUpdates long polling and setWebhook for receiving updates; those update-receiving methods are mutually exclusive. Webhook status can expose pending updates and recent delivery errors, and Telegram documents retry behavior for webhook delivery. These mechanisms help manage inbound bot interactions; they are not proof of a guaranteed time for an outbound alert to reach a person.

The Telegram documentation page’s latest listed change is Bot API 10.3, dated August 24, 2026. That is a page-version reference, not evidence that a tracker uses any particular feature introduced in that release.

How to substantiate a speed claim

“Fast” is meaningful only when the clock starts and stops are defined. A useful measurement records, where available, the source event timestamp, the time the tracker first observes the event, completion of filtering, submission of the Telegram request, and receipt on a test account. This separates upstream freshness from the tracker’s processing time and Telegram delivery.

For a report, include the measurement window and number of events, then provide median and a tail percentile if measured. Also disclose missed or duplicated alerts and any outages in the same window. Do not label a result “real time” or “sub-second” without these boundaries and the underlying timestamps. Public Polymarket and Telegram documentation establishes their interfaces, not this tracker’s latency, recipient delivery time, or trading outcomes.

What belongs in a first-person implementation account

The title’s “I added” framing should be backed by details from the builder, not inferred from API docs. A credible account identifies the actual data source and fields, the tracker’s definition of a whale, event thresholds and exclusions, deduplication behavior, deployment arrangement, and any premium-tier features. It should distinguish verified measurement from product positioning: speed may be the product proposition, but claimed performance needs measured evidence.

There is no basis in the cited documentation for saying that a particular tracker improves trading results or produces profitable signals. An alert can reduce the time a user spends checking a feed; whether it arrives early enough to matter, and whether acting on it helps, are separate questions requiring evidence beyond the existence of an API and a Telegram bot.
