Polygon Labs completed its acquisition of Coinme on October 14, 2026, adding regulated U.S. money movement to Polygon Open Money Stack. Coinme remains a wholly owned Polygon subsidiary and continues operating its regulated exchange, wallet and Crypto-as-a-Service businesses. The transaction gives payment companies a single integration intended to connect fiat funding, on-chain transfers, banking and payouts.
What Polygon acquired and when
Polygon announced definitive agreements to acquire Coinme and Sequence on January 13, 2026. Polygon described the combined transaction as exceeding $250 million and positioned both acquisitions as the foundation of Open Money Stack (OMS).
On October 14, Polygon announced that the Coinme transaction had closed. Coinme said it would continue as a wholly owned subsidiary while maintaining its regulated exchange, wallet and Crypto-as-a-Service platform.

How broad is the regulated payments coverage?
Polygon says its U.S. payments business now has coverage across 48 states. That footprint consists of 37 state money-transmitter licenses and 11 applicable exemptions, and the business is registered with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) as a money-services business.

“Coverage across 48 states” describes the combined license-and-exemption footprint. It does not mean every product or transaction type has identical permissions in every state. Payment providers still need to confirm the applicable state authorization, customer eligibility and flow-specific compliance requirements before launch.

Coinme says it grew from an early licensed Bitcoin ATM operator into infrastructure serving more than 50,000 retail locations and enterprise partners through Crypto-as-a-Service APIs. It reported more than $1 billion in transaction volume during 2024, a historical figure reported by Coinme in 2026 rather than a forecast for future OMS volume.
How Open Money Stack is designed to work
Polygon describes OMS as a way to connect the complete payment path: dollars entering through a bank account, card or cash deposit; movement across blockchains; and funds reaching a recipient through banking or payout channels.

- Accept funds. A business connects bank, card or cash-based funding through regulated fiat on-ramps.
- Manage accounts and wallets. Wallet and custody infrastructure holds or moves supported digital assets under the relevant controls.
- Route value on-chain. Cross-chain payment orchestration selects the required blockchain path instead of forcing a payment team to build each connection separately.
- Settle and pay out. Stablecoin settlement is designed to provide fast, predictable finality, while banking and payout connections deliver local currency or other supported funds to the recipient.
The intended result is one integration spanning regulated fiat access, wallets, cross-chain routing, settlement rails, banking infrastructure and payout infrastructure. Polygon also characterizes the enterprise flows as compliance-ready, although each customer remains responsible for its own legal, risk and compliance obligations.
Polygon CEO Marc Boiron said completing the acquisition brings “regulated U.S. money movement into Open Money Stack,” extending the infrastructure from the moment funds enter until the recipient is paid.

Tazapay co-founder and CEO Rahul Shinghal said customers judge cross-border payments by arrival time and cost, and that OMS offers a more direct route between stablecoins and local currency in the corridors it supports.

Is the unified product generally available?
The acquisition is complete, but broad availability of the single integrated OMS product was not established as of October 14, 2026. The Block reported that individual OMS components were operating while the unified integration remained in technical preview for select customers.

That distinction matters for companies evaluating a production launch: access to a component, access to the combined integration and permission to use a specific payment flow are separate questions. A prospective customer should obtain current availability, onboarding criteria, supported jurisdictions and service-level terms directly from Polygon before committing to an implementation schedule.
