Choose the Polar H10 if you need two simultaneous Bluetooth connections or want to record a workout on the sensor and sync it later. Choose the Polar H9 if you send heart-rate data to one nearby device and do not need onboard workout storage. Polar lists the two as electrical chest sensors with the same headline battery life and water-resistance rating. Its published specifications do not establish that either model is more accurate.
Polar H9 vs. H10: what is different?
The meaningful differences are simultaneous Bluetooth connections, sensor-side workout storage and the included strap. The other listed core features—measurement category, ANT+, 5 kHz transmission, battery operation time and water resistance—are shared in Polar’s official H9–H10 comparison.
| Feature | Polar H9 | Polar H10 | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Measurement | Electrical, chest-worn | Electrical, chest-worn | Polar lists the same measurement category for both; this does not establish equal results in a comparative accuracy test. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth Low Energy; two simultaneous connections are not listed | Two simultaneous Bluetooth connections | H10 suits setups that need to send data to two receiving devices at once. |
| Sensor memory | No built-in workout memory listed | One training session, up to 30 hours | H10 can record a workout for later syncing; Polar’s workflow uses Polar Beat. |
| Other transmission | ANT+ and 5 kHz/GymLink | ANT+ and 5 kHz/GymLink | Both support compatible ANT+ devices and 5 kHz/GymLink equipment. |
| Battery | Replaceable; up to 400 hours | Replaceable; up to 400 hours | Polar lists no operation-time advantage for either model. |
| Water resistance | 30 m | 30 m | The rating does not mean Bluetooth or ANT+ signals work underwater. |
| Included strap | Soft Strap | Pro Strap | They ship with different straps; comfort and fit vary by wearer. |
Specifications in the table are from Polar’s comparison and H9 and H10 product information. The H10 product page lists its one-session memory as up to 30 hours.

Which one should you choose?
Choose Polar H9 for a one-device setup
- You pair the sensor with one nearby watch, phone or compatible training device.
- You do not need to leave your phone behind while the sensor records a workout.
- You want the shared core transmission and measurement features without paying for H10 capabilities you will not use. Current regional prices and stock are not established here, so check local listings before judging the price difference.
Polar’s H9 manual says to pair the sensor with the Polar Flow app to get started.
#1 Best Overall
- WORKS WITH EVERYTHING: Polar HRM works with ALL HRM compatible Equipment.
- SUPREME ACCURACY: Widely recognized for its top precision by many sources, Polar H10 is the most accurate heart rate sensor in Polar's history. Polar H10 provides top quality measurement.
- CONNECTIVITY: Bluetooth, ANT plus and 5 kHz provide an excellent variety of connection options. You can use Bluetooth and ANT plus connections simultaneously as well as two Bluetooth connections simultaneously.
- POLAR PRO CHEST STRAP: With improved electrodes, an easy-to-use buckle and silicone dots, the strap is comfortable and interference-free.
- VERSATILITY: Polar H10 is fully waterproof and it has internal memory for multiple hours.
Choose Polar H10 for two receivers or phone-free recording
- You need to transmit to two Bluetooth receiving devices simultaneously—for example, a watch and compatible training equipment.
- You want the sensor to store a workout and sync it later, rather than keeping a phone connected throughout the session.
- The included Pro Strap better suits your intended fit, while recognizing that the published specifications do not prove a universal comfort or durability advantage.
For standalone recording, Polar says to start the session with Polar Beat. The H10 stores one session, up to 30 hours, and syncing clears the sensor memory; its user manual recommends syncing after the workout because heart-rate data is sensitive.
Are the H9 and H10 equally accurate?
The official comparison identifies both as electrical chest sensors, but that specification is not a head-to-head accuracy test. The evidence cited here therefore does not establish an accuracy winner—or prove that their readings are identical under every condition. Choose between them on connection and recording needs rather than an unsupported claim that H10 is more accurate.

Can you use either sensor for swimming?
Polar lists both sensors as water resistant to 30 m, but water resistance and signal transmission underwater are different things. The H9 manual warns that Bluetooth and ANT+ do not work underwater. It says GymLink may be used in water, while pool or sea water can short-circuit the electrodes and prevent electrical signals from being detected. Do not assume either sensor will continuously transmit a usable heart-rate signal underwater just because it has a water-resistance rating.
How do you fit and care for the chest strap?
- Moisten the strap’s electrode area and fasten it snugly against your skin, following the H9 manual guidance.
- After training, detach the connector and rinse the strap under running water.
- Wash the strap often at 40°C / 104°F, as the H9 manual advises. Follow the instructions for your specific strap and avoid assuming the two included strap models have identical care requirements.
Polar lists a replaceable CR2025 battery for H9 and H10, and up to 400 hours of operation for each model. These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of runtime in every use pattern.
