Poland’s government plans to allocate PLN 200 billion to defense in 2026, equal to 4.81% of projected GDP. That spending plan creates a potentially significant market for production technology, while Siemens is positioning its digital-manufacturing software for defense manufacturers. Public evidence shows a market opportunity and active vendor outreach—not a confirmed Polish contract or measured increase in Siemens’ Poland defense sales.
What Poland’s 2026 defense plan changes
In an announcement dated 28 August 2025, Poland’s Chancellery of the Prime Minister said the 2026 budget would allocate PLN 200 billion to defense, or 4.81% of projected GDP. The figure is a planned budget allocation for the 2026 budget year. It does not show that the money has already been spent, that all of it will go to Polish manufacturers, or that any particular automation supplier will receive orders.
For industrial companies, however, a larger defense budget can create pressure to expand capacity, shorten production cycles and manage more complex programs. Those requirements are the setting in which Siemens is presenting digital twins, industrial artificial intelligence and augmented- and virtual-reality tools to the defense sector.
What Siemens presented for defense manufacturing
A 29 August 2026 announcement from Targi Kielce described Siemens Digital Industries Software’s planned program for the 8–11 September 2026 MSPO exhibition, the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition. The demonstrations centered on using digital models and connected production data before equipment reaches the factory floor.

Digital twins before physical production
Siemens described virtual verification of projects and designs, assembly-line simulation, process checks and testing before physical production as digital-twin use cases. In practical terms, a manufacturer can use a digital representation to examine whether a product, workstation sequence or manufacturing process is workable before committing to tooling, material or floor space.
These capabilities are vendor-described functions, not independent evidence that a particular defense program achieved a specified saving or production increase.

The exhibitor listing also identified simulation, digital twins, product-lifecycle management, manufacturing execution, electronic design automation and low-code tools as solution areas. The intended value is continuity of information from engineering through production rather than isolated models or spreadsheets.
Industrial AI and extended reality
Siemens’ announced demonstrations included industrial AI, augmented reality and virtual reality. Such tools can support operator guidance, training, visual inspection or scenario testing, but the event information did not provide independently measured accuracy, productivity gains or deployment results for a Polish defense plant.
Why defense factories are looking at automation
The MSPO listing identified several pressures facing the industry: increasing system complexity, workforce shortages, the need to accelerate production, safety and cybersecurity. Its wording was explicit: “At the same time, increasing system complexity, workforce shortages and the pressure to accelerate production are pushing conventional methods to their limits.” This is an event-organizer statement, not a measured industry-wide finding.

Digital manufacturing addresses these pressures in different ways. Simulation can expose bottlenecks before line installation; lifecycle management can preserve configuration history; manufacturing-execution software can connect instructions and records to shop-floor work; and immersive tools can help train personnel on complex operations. Defense programs also require strict traceability and conformity to military standards, making data governance and access control as important as visual modeling.

The MSPO exhibitor directory listed Siemens Industry Software Sp. z o.o. at a Warsaw address as an exhibitor from 8 to 11 September 2026. Participation demonstrates that Siemens is actively addressing the Polish and regional defense audience. It does not establish a customer win, a procurement decision or a contract with a Polish defense company.
A statement attributed to Robert Chmielewski, Siemens’ defense-industry solution sales manager, said the company’s solutions enable defense-industry leaders to improve production performance and shorten time to market while maintaining precision and compliance with military standards. That is a translated vendor claim about intended capabilities, not independent validation of achieved results.

How Siemens’ fiscal 2025 numbers fit the story
Siemens’ fiscal 2025 Annual Report reported the following results for its entire Digital Industries segment:
| Measure | Fiscal 2025 result | Year-over-year change | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Orders | €18.377 billion | Up 8% | Segment-wide; not attributed to Poland or defense |
| Revenue | €17.788 billion | Down 4% | Segment-wide; not attributed to Poland or defense |
The report said automation supported order growth, while full-year automation revenue remained below the prior year after destocking effects. These figures indicate broader demand and timing conditions across Digital Industries; they do not demonstrate Poland-specific defense demand or sales of any Siemens system to a Polish customer.

What buyers should evaluate before scaling a defense line
Manufacturers considering this type of platform should assess the complete operating context rather than treating a digital twin as a standalone purchase.

These are evaluation criteria, not evidence that Siemens has outperformed another supplier; the cited materials do not provide a comparative benchmark.
An adjacent facilities angle
In a January 2026 company blog, Siemens also presented integrated building and process automation as relevant to complex aerospace and defense facilities and named Building X for building operations. That expands the possible scope from production software to the factories and infrastructure supporting production. The blog does not report a Polish defense contract, so it should be read as an adjacent capability discussion rather than confirmation of local demand.
What is established—and what remains unknown
The established facts are a large planned Polish defense allocation, Siemens’ public presentation of defense-oriented digital-manufacturing capabilities, and its participation at MSPO. No reviewed public source names a Polish defense customer adopting these products, reports a Siemens Poland defense contract, quantifies Poland-specific automation sales, or identifies how much of the planned budget will be spent on Siemens systems.
