The rumored box legendaries for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves have not been confirmed by The Pokémon Company. July 2026 reports trace the claim to a June 30 X post describing a Garuda-inspired legendary for Winds and a Naga-like mermaid legendary for Waves. Those are reported rumor descriptions, not established designs.
What the online rumor claims
La Razón reported on July 2, 2026, that an X post attributed to Light (@Light_88_) on June 30 described a Garuda-inspired legendary for Pokémon Winds and a Naga-like mermaid legendary for Pokémon Waves. Ei Nerd reported the alleged pair on July 1 and cautioned that Nintendo and Game Freak had not confirmed the images. Both reports refer to the same attributed post, so they are not independent confirmation of the designs.
The reports support only those broad alleged inspirations. They do not establish the Pokémon’s names, types, abilities, story roles, or detailed appearances.

The Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves as new entries in the video game series, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, with a simultaneous worldwide release planned for 2027. The announcement describes an open world of windswept islands and a vast ocean, with local ecosystems and natural forces that can sometimes block the player’s path. It also says player outfits differ between versions.

The announced first partner Pokémon are Browt (Grass), Pombon (Fire), and Gecqua (Water). The announcement also shows two special Pikachu, Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, but says to look forward to future information about their role.

They are unconfirmed, not disproved. The official announcement reviewed does not name or show the box legendaries, or confirm their designs, types, or inspirations. The games’ confirmed island-and-ocean setting does not validate the rumor; that would be an inference, not evidence.

The most accurate way to describe the claim is: July reports attribute the Garuda and Naga descriptions to an X post, but the official material reviewed has not confirmed the pair. That status could change if The Pokémon Company or Nintendo shares more information.
