Pokémon Pokopia Version 2.0.0 is the August 2026 feature update for Nintendo Switch 2. Its headline addition is free underwater movement with Dive, including the ability to build houses below the surface. The update also streamlines storage, crafting, travel, decorating, photography, accessibility settings and several recurring interactions.
Nintendo’s English support page lists Version 2.0.0 as released on August 4, 2026; The Pokémon Company’s Singapore notice is dated August 5. Those dates refer to the respective regional pages. As of October 13, 2026, Nintendo lists Version 2.0.1, released September 7, as the newest software version, so 2.0.0 is the feature update covered here rather than the current latest build.

Underwater exploration and construction
Dive opens a new building space
Version 2.0.0 adds the Dive move, allowing Ditto to move freely underwater. The Build specialty also works below the surface, so players can construct underwater houses instead of treating water as an area that can only be crossed.
Strength can now be used underwater, extending object-moving and environmental interaction into the new space. The update also adds the portal pod and safe. Their recipes become available for purchase after Palette Town’s environment level increases.
#1 Best Overall
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
- Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
Water and movement changes
- Released water automatically matches nearby water levels.
- A short press of the move button while sucking up liquid lets Ditto hold it in its mouth without removing it from the environment.
- Companion Pokémon can follow while Ditto uses Surf, Glide, Rollout or Magnet Rise.
- Surf can be activated on land by pressing the Surf button while holding the focus button.
- Surf and Waterfall activation is smoother.
- Rollout can destroy some natural objects, including large boulders, and players can inhale items or open the bag while rolling.
- Leafage can turn farm soil back into normal soil.
New customization and creative tools
Patterns, emotes and hair colors
After obtaining the diploma, players can talk to Smearguru to acquire the dynamic Ditto print pattern. Two new emotes are available as well: Lie Down in Bleak Beach and Ready, Set, Go! on Dream Islands.
Five hair colors join the character-creation options: orange, light pink, yellow-green, blue-green and brown.
More objects can be painted
Version 2.0.0 makes the following objects paintable:

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Stylish stool
- Handrail
- Metal chain
- Workbench
- Vending machine
- Bike
- Bookcase
- Pokémon Center counter
- Arrow sign
- Rope
Placement controls are more precise too. Windows, doors and similar objects support finer depth adjustment, making it easier to align them with walls and other structures. When using paint balloons, the target item is clearer before paint is applied. Smearguru can learn patterns from photos saved in References.

- Action meets RPG in this new take on the Pokémon series
- Study Pokémon behaviors, sneak up on them, and toss a well-aimed Poké Ball to catch them
- Unleash moves in the speedy agile style or the powerful strong style in battles
- Travel to the Hisui region—the Sinnoh of old—and build the region’s first Pokédex
- Learn about the Mythical Pokémon Arceus, the key to this mysterious tale
More photos and construction output
A town can now display up to 40 different photos, up from 10. Curved-eave crafting output has also been increased to 10. The game explains more clearly that buildings can still be remodeled even when items are attached to their roofs or walls.
Inventory, crafting and repeat actions
Storage transfers and material priority
Bulk movement between the storage box and bag reduces the need to transfer items one at a time. At a workbench, crafting now consumes materials from the storage box next to that workbench before using materials in Ditto’s bag.
The placement limit for power generators, excluding furnaces, rises from 64 to 128, allowing larger powered builds.
Faster routine interactions
- Lost relics can be appraised in batches of up to 10.
- Paint, Gather Honey and Collect can be repeated within one interaction.
- Deleting items placed inside objects such as the garbage bin is supported.
- The All tab has been added to both the Pokédex and Habitat Dex.
- If a Pokédex search finds a Pokémon in another town, Return Home can be used to travel to that town.
These changes target the repeated trips and menu steps that accumulate during decorating, collecting and habitat management.
Rank #3
- Set off on a grand adventure to become the Pokémon League Champion—now on Nintendo Switch!
- Celebrate 30 years of Pokémon with this Nintendo Switch version* of the Pokémon FireRed Version game originally released on the Game Boy Advance system!
- Additional games and systems required for multiplayer mode. Sold separately. 2004 Pokémon. 1995-2004 Nintendo/Creatures Inc./GAME FREAK inc. Pokémon and Nintendo Switch are trademarks of Nintendo.
Habitat behavior, companions and town systems
- If a Pokémon’s habitat is destroyed, it returns when the same habitat is rebuilt within a certain area.
- Pokémon upset by removed furniture notice sooner when that furniture is replaced.
- Pokémon that taught Ditto an emote respond with that emote when Ditto uses it.
- Pokémon not assigned to the Build role on a construction project can help with cooking.
- Ordinary conversation indicators are reduced so special conversations and requests to Ditto stand out.
- Certain roofs now block water.
- Tidal Bell and Clear Bell can be activated by laser sensors and switches.
Camera and control options
The update adds camera settings intended to reduce motion sickness. It also allows movement while the move wheel is open and adds an option to hide the confirmation message shown when canceling Magnet Rise. These are optional settings and control changes rather than changes to the game’s core progression.
Bug fixes and performance work
Nintendo’s Version 2.0.0 notes describe fixes across construction, habitats, water movement, requests, painting, furniture display, multiplayer building, relocation kits, construction kits, Dream Island loading and return behavior, music timing, berry processing and several named quest-progression cases. The notes also mention improved performance for certain rendering processes.
Examples include fixes for Suicune or Gholdengo crossing water, Pokémon falling from habitats or failing to return, Magnet Rise warnings, movement over duckweed, requests involving disliked items, and issues with painting behavior or costs. The full patch notes contain additional case-specific corrections.
Version 2.0.1 is newer
Nintendo’s update history lists Version 2.0.1, released September 7, 2026, as the latest version as of October 13. That follow-up addresses cases in which Ho-Oh and Lugia repeatedly descend and reappear, Pokédex searches fail to find a Pokémon, a relocation kit cannot be picked up, sound effects repeat, the game freezes or the loading screen does not finish. Nintendo also says Brazil rating settings were updated on October 1.
Rank #4
- Revisit the Sinnoh region from the original Pokémon Pearl Version game and set off to try and become the Champion of the Pokémon League
- The Pokémon Shining Pearl game brings new life to this remade classic with added features
- Explore the Grand Underground to dig up items and Pokémon Fossils, build a Secret Base, and more.
- Test your style and rhythm in a Super Contest Show
- A reimagined adventure, now for the Nintendo Switch system
If a problem described above persists, first confirm that the game has updated beyond 2.0.0 rather than assuming the feature update contains the newest fixes.
How to install the update and use online features
- Connect the Nintendo Switch 2 to the internet.
- On the HOME Menu, highlight Pokémon Pokopia without launching it.
- Press the + or − button.
- Select Software Update, then choose Via the Internet.
- Let the download and installation finish before starting the game.
Nintendo says the update is required for the game’s internet features. Online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership, and everyone playing together must use the same software version.
What the update means for players
Version 2.0.0’s defining change is that underwater space becomes buildable space, not merely a traversal route. Its broader value is cumulative: nearby-storage crafting, bulk transfers, repeatable interactions, batch relic appraisal, Pokédex travel, richer painting and photography, and motion-focused camera options remove friction from the everyday tasks that surround exploration and town design.
