The Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass is a paid, three-part add-on for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Pokémon Pokopia. One purchase covers all three parts as Nintendo releases them; individual parts are not sold separately. Part 1, Bubbly Basin, launched on August 4, 2026. To reach it, you need the full game, the free Dive update, the Bleak Beach request “Raise the environment level!”, and the ability to jump and use Surf. Parts 2 and 3 remain scheduled for late 2026 and 2027, respectively.
What is included in the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass?
The Expansion Pass is a single paid purchase for Pokémon Pokopia on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo sells it through Nintendo eShop on the console and through the Nintendo Store. The base game is required; buying the pass by itself does not provide Pokémon Pokopia.
The pass is structured as one package rather than a menu of separately priced waves. Nintendo describes the arrangement this way: “one purchase gets you access to everything as it’s released.” You cannot buy Bubbly Basin, Part 2, or Part 3 individually.

| Part 3 | Scheduled for 2027 | A new town to explore and rebuild |

#1 Best Overall
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
- Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
The pass also includes a recipe bonus
In addition to the expansion areas, Nintendo identifies a purchase bonus recipe for dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper. The recipe is delivered through the game’s Downloadable Content menu rather than appearing automatically in your normal recipe list. Regional terms can apply, so the claim instructions and any additional reward should be checked against your local Nintendo support or store page.
What is Bubbly Basin?
Bubbly Basin is the first released Expansion Pass area. It is an underwater town designed for exploration and rebuilding, with extra Pokémon and furniture to discover. Part 1 also adds a Ditto outfit.
Bubbly Basin is reached through an underwater gate in the game world. There is no separate “launch DLC” button that bypasses the story requirements. You must first unlock Dive and finish the relevant request in Bleak Beach, then travel to the gate.

Paid Expansion Pass versus the free Dive update
The most important purchase distinction is that Dive is free, while Bubbly Basin and the other expansion-pass content are paid DLC.
| Feature | Free Dive update | Paid Expansion Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Who receives it | Every owner of Pokémon Pokopia | Players who purchase the Expansion Pass for the user/account that plays the game |
| What it does | Adds the Dive ability and enables underwater traversal | Unlocks Bubbly Basin and the later pass parts as they release |
| Requirements | Complete “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach and have jump and Surf abilities | Own the full game and purchase the pass; Bubbly Basin still requires the Dive-related progress |
| Separate purchase needed? | No | Yes, unless it is already owned on the Nintendo Account/user you are using |
Nintendo describes the free update as available to everyone who has Pokémon Pokopia. That means purchasing the pass is not how you obtain Dive. You need Dive because it is the ability that lets you reach the underwater gate, but the ability itself is not locked behind the paid pass.

Requirements before you try to enter Bubbly Basin
- Nintendo Switch 2 and the current game software: Pokémon Pokopia is Nintendo Switch 2 software. Install any available game and DLC updates before troubleshooting access.
- The full Pokémon Pokopia game: The Expansion Pass is an add-on and does not work as a standalone purchase.
- The purchasing Nintendo Account/user: The account or console user that bought the pass must be correctly associated with the game session, or the console must have the relevant digital entitlement available.
- The free Dive update: Make sure the update has installed. Dive is required for the underwater route.
- Story progress in Bleak Beach: Complete the important request “Raise the environment level!”
- Movement abilities: Nintendo says you must be able to jump and use Surf before learning Dive.
If any of these conditions is missing, the underwater gate can remain unavailable even when the Expansion Pass purchase is valid.
How do I access Bubbly Basin?
- Confirm the game and pass are installed. On Nintendo Switch 2, verify that Pokémon Pokopia is installed and up to date. Confirm that the Expansion Pass was purchased for the Nintendo Account/user you intend to use. The pass does not replace the base game.
- Check that you can jump and use Surf. These abilities are prerequisites for learning Dive. If one is unavailable, continue the main progression until the game grants it.
- Complete “Raise the environment level!” in Bleak Beach. This is the specific request Nintendo lists for learning Dive. Finish the request rather than simply visiting Bleak Beach.
- Learn Dive from the free update. Dive becomes available after the Bleak Beach requirement and the movement prerequisites are met. You do not need to buy the Expansion Pass to learn it.
- Travel to Bubbly Basin’s underwater gate. Once Dive is available, return to the underwater gate identified in the game world and use it to enter Part 1. The gate, not an eShop menu, is the access point for the area.
- Check the pass bonus separately. To look for the dynamic Ditto print-block and wallpaper recipe, start the game, press +, open the Pokédex, choose Downloadable Content at the bottom right, and select Check Items. Nintendo UK’s instructions add a Receive selection after Check Items, so use that button if it appears in your regional version.
Entering Bubbly Basin and claiming the recipe are separate actions. Reaching the gate confirms that the area is accessible; it does not necessarily mean the bonus recipe has already been claimed through the Downloadable Content screen.
How to claim the dynamic Ditto recipe and wallpaper
The recipe bonus is checked from inside Pokémon Pokopia:
- Start Pokémon Pokopia and press +.
- Open the Pokédex.
- Select Downloadable Content in the bottom-right corner.
- Choose Check Items.
- If your version displays it, choose Receive to add the dynamic Ditto print-block and wallpaper recipe to your game.
If the item does not appear, verify the purchasing user before reinstalling anything. Nintendo’s support guidance treats account ownership and the DLC entitlement as the first checks. Bonus availability and claim wording can vary by region, so consult the Nintendo store or support page for the country attached to your account.
Why is my Pokopia DLC not showing up?
Most missing-DLC cases are caused by a different user owning the purchase, the DLC’s Virtual Game Card not being loaded, or the player expecting a future part to be available early. Work through the checks below in order.
Rank #3
- Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass
1. Check which user bought the Expansion Pass
On a console with multiple users, open the Nintendo Account information for the profile that purchased the pass. Nintendo notes that a message saying the DLC was not purchased can mean another user owns it. Start Pokémon Pokopia with the purchasing user, or make sure the console’s digital-license settings allow the intended user to access that purchase.
2. Load the DLC Virtual Game Card
From the HOME Menu, open Virtual Game Cards. Select the user who bought the Expansion Pass and check that the DLC’s virtual game card is loaded on the console. If it is not loaded, select the relevant card and load it before reopening Pokémon Pokopia.
3. Check the Online License setting
Nintendo says users with Online License enabled can download DLC separately. If your console uses that license arrangement, verify that the purchasing account is the one selected and that the console is online. This is especially important when the base game and DLC are being accessed by different profiles or from different consoles.
4. Redownload the DLC or download data
If the entitlement is correct but the content still does not appear, use Nintendo’s redownload process for the relevant copy of the game. Nintendo documents separate recovery paths for physical and digital copies, so follow the path that matches your edition.
For a physical copy, Nintendo’s documented reinstall guidance refers to deleting the software data and downloading it again. Do not delete save data as a troubleshooting shortcut. Save data and installed software are different items, and removing the wrong one can cause avoidable progress loss.
Rank #4
- Pokémon Pokopia Bundle (Game + Expansion Pass)
5. Verify the bonus from inside the game
At the title screen, press A to continue, then open the in-game Downloadable Content menu through + > Pokédex. Use Check Items and, where shown, Receive. This confirms whether the print recipes were delivered even if you have not yet visited Bubbly Basin.
6. Rule out unreleased content
A valid pass does not make every future area appear immediately. Nintendo’s stated schedule places Part 2 in late 2026 and Part 3 in 2027. Until Nintendo releases those parts, their content will not be available to download or enter.
7. Recheck after a restart
After loading the virtual card or redownloading the DLC, close Pokémon Pokopia completely and start it again with the purchasing user. Then check the Downloadable Content menu and return to the underwater gate. This refreshes the game’s entitlement check without altering save data.
What to do when the gate is still unavailable
If Bubbly Basin does not open after the entitlement checks, separate the problem into progress and installation:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- No Dive ability: Confirm that “Raise the environment level!” is complete and that both jump and Surf are available. The pass cannot substitute for these free-update prerequisites.
- Dive is learned but the gate does nothing: Confirm that you are using the user who owns the pass, then check Virtual Game Cards and the Downloadable Content menu.
- The game shows a purchase prompt: Switch to the purchasing user or load that user’s DLC virtual game card. A purchase prompt does not necessarily mean the pass was never bought.
- The recipe is missing but the area works: Use the Check Items and Receive route. The exploration area and purchase bonus are delivered through different in-game checks.
- Only Part 2 or Part 3 is missing: Compare the date with Nintendo’s announced release schedule. Future waves do not unlock merely because Part 1 is installed.
Regional bonuses, storage, and account terms
Rare Pokémetal bonus
Nintendo UK lists an additional regional promotion for pass purchasers who buy by August 31, 2027: a code for 30 Rare Pokémetal sent by email for redemption through Mystery Gifts. This is not a universal Expansion Pass entitlement. Eligibility, purchase deadline, email delivery, and redemption terms depend on the applicable regional offer, so verify them with the Nintendo store or support page for your account’s country.
Best Value
- 3 complete Pokémon TCG decks (60 cards each)
- Each deck includes a powerful special Pokémon: Cinderace V, Pikachu V, or Eevee V
- Eevee deck includes 2 copies of an all-new promo card featuring Galarian Obstagoon
- 1 instruction sheet to help you set up to play
- 2 tutorial guides to lead you through the decks
Storage expansion
A compatible microSD Express card may be needed if the console does not have enough free storage for the game or DLC download. It is a conditional accessory, not a requirement for every player. Check available console storage first and confirm that any card you buy is compatible with Nintendo Switch 2; do not assume that any older microSD card supports the required standard.
Purchase channel and price
Nintendo identifies Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch 2 and the Nintendo Store as official purchase channels. The amount displayed at checkout is the authoritative price for your region and account; no single worldwide price should be assumed. The base game and Expansion Pass are separate purchases, so check that both are in your library before attempting to use Bubbly Basin.
Available content versus announced content
As of the stated 2026 schedule, Bubbly Basin is the only released Expansion Pass part. Its underwater town, extra Pokémon, furniture, and Ditto outfit are the content you can access now after meeting the Dive and Bleak Beach requirements.
Part 2 is announced for late 2026 and is described as adding Pokémon, furniture, sunglasses, bowties, and other accessories without adding a new town. Part 3 is announced for 2027 and is described as adding a new town to explore and rebuild. Nintendo may adjust these plans, so treat the future-wave details as announced features subject to change rather than as content currently installed on your console.
