Pokémon Pokopia’s Expansion Pass is paid DLC for Nintendo Switch 2. It covers three planned parts: Bubbly Basin (released August 4, 2026), a second part planned for late 2026, and a third planned for 2027. One pass purchase entitles you to each part as it releases. Dive, the ability needed to reach Bubbly Basin, comes in a free update for every game owner; the area itself still requires the paid pass and specific story progress.

Buying advice depends on whether you already own the game and on your country’s Nintendo store. Canada lists a digital game-and-pass bundle, while Nintendo Singapore announced a Game-Key Card package for October 29, 2026. Those offers should not be treated as worldwide editions or proof of cross-region DLC compatibility.

What you get in the three-part pass

Part 1: Bubbly Basin

Bubbly Basin is the first expansion area and became available on August 4, 2026. It is a paid destination rather than an automatic consequence of installing the free Dive update. The gate to the area remains locked until the account owns the Expansion Pass and the save file meets the required story conditions.

  • Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.

Part 2: late 2026

Nintendo schedules the second part for late 2026. No exact day is established in the official pages cited here, so a store listing should be checked before relying on a more precise date. A pass bought before launch is intended to provide this part when Nintendo releases it; there is no need to purchase a second pass for Part 2.

Part 3: 2027

The third part is planned for 2027. Nintendo’s US Pokémon Pokopia listing describes a new town to explore and rebuild, but does not give a firm launch day. Treat the year as a release plan rather than a guarantee that cannot change.

For Nintendo’s base-game product information and the stated Part 3 feature, see Pokémon Pokopia – Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive. Release schedules can be revised, so the local store page remains the authority for your market.

Console, game ownership, and regional compatibility

Nintendo Switch 2 is the stated platform

Nintendo identifies both Pokémon Pokopia and this Expansion Pass as Nintendo Switch 2 products. The official material reviewed does not say that the game or pass runs on the original Nintendo Switch. Do not buy the DLC expecting an older Switch to be supported unless Nintendo adds a separate compatibility statement.

You need the base game

The pass is downloadable content, not a standalone game. Nintendo Singapore’s package notice explicitly says that playing the Expansion Pass DLC requires owning Pokémon Pokopia. If you do not already have the game, select a game-and-pass bundle where your market offers one, or buy the base game separately before purchasing the standalone DLC.

Cross-region purchases are not confirmed

The cited Nintendo support pages explain how to buy and troubleshoot the DLC, but they do not state whether a pass purchased in one country works with a game purchased in another. Store pages appearing in another language or region are not evidence of compatibility. Keep the game and DLC in the same Nintendo Account and market unless Nintendo’s local support documentation expressly says otherwise; if you already have mixed-region purchases, ask Nintendo Support before spending more.

Which buying format fits your situation?

Your situation Most relevant option Important qualification
You already own Pokémon Pokopia on Switch 2 Buy the standalone digital Expansion Pass through Nintendo eShop or the Nintendo Store. The pass does not include a game card, and the base game remains required.
You do not own the game and shop in Canada Nintendo Canada lists a digital Pokémon Pokopia Bundle containing the game and all three pass parts. That listing is Canadian; it does not establish the same bundle, price, or terms elsewhere.
You want a physical-style package in Singapore Nintendo Singapore announced Pokémon Pokopia + Expansion Pass as a Game-Key Card package for October 29, 2026. It is a Singapore announcement, and the card is a key for downloading the game rather than a complete game-data cartridge.
You are comparing another country’s edition Use that country’s Nintendo product page for price, release status, and format. Regional availability and cross-region DLC rules are not established by the pages cited here.

The Canadian digital listing is Pokémon Pokopia Bundle (Game + Expansion Pass) for Nintendo Switch 2. The existence of this bundle does not mean that every market offers a digital or physical equivalent.

How Dive and Bubbly Basin access work

Dive comes from a free update

Every owner of Pokémon Pokopia receives the software update that adds Dive. Buying the Expansion Pass is not required to download or learn the ability. The paid purchase controls access to Bubbly Basin and the later expansion parts.

Story requirements for the underwater gate

Nintendo Support gives this exact requirement: “To access Bubbly Basin’s underwater gate, you must first learn Dive and complete the important request ‘Raise the environment level!’ in Bleak Beach.” The US product page also says the player needs the ability to jump and must know Surf in order to learn Dive. These are save-file progression checks, so installing the DLC alone will not open the area.

Rank #4
  1. Install the latest Pokémon Pokopia update on your Switch 2.
  2. Make sure the character can jump and knows Surf, the abilities Nintendo lists for learning Dive.
  3. Progress to the point where Dive can be learned and acquire it through the game’s normal sequence.
  4. In Bleak Beach, complete the important request named Raise the environment level!
  5. With the Expansion Pass owned and loaded, return to Bubbly Basin’s underwater gate. The area should become available once both the entitlement and story requirements are present.

The progression wording and troubleshooting context are documented in Nintendo’s Unable to Access DLC (Pokémon Pokopia) support article.

What to do if purchased DLC is missing

Work through these checks in order. They separate an account or installation problem from Bubbly Basin’s intentional story lock.

  1. Update the console. Install any pending Nintendo Switch 2 system update.
  2. Update the game. Highlight Pokémon Pokopia on the HOME Menu, press the plus button, choose Software Update, and apply the available update.
  3. Restart the console. A full restart can refresh an entitlement that was purchased while the game or eShop session was open.
  4. Open Nintendo eShop with the purchasing user. Use the Nintendo Account that bought the pass, then review the Pokémon Pokopia listing.
  5. Confirm the purchase status. The Expansion Pass should be marked Purchased. If a different account is signed in, that account may not show the entitlement.
  6. Load the DLC virtual game card. Nintendo’s Switch 2 delivery system requires the DLC virtual game card to be loaded on the console before the game can use the content.
  7. Check the in-game Downloadable Content menu. Nintendo directs players there for the dynamic Ditto print recipe and other DLC indicators. Its presence helps confirm that the game is reading the pass.
  8. Check the Bubbly Basin gate requirements. You still need Dive and the Bleak Beach request even when the eShop shows the pass as purchased.
  9. Do not expect unreleased parts. Part 2 was scheduled for late 2026 and Part 3 for 2027; a pass cannot display content Nintendo has not released yet.

If these checks do not resolve the issue, retain the purchasing account, region, order confirmation, and software version when contacting Nintendo Support. Do not repurchase the pass until Nintendo confirms that the original transaction is absent.

Understanding the Singapore Game-Key Card package

Nintendo Singapore announced a package named Pokémon Pokopia + Expansion Pass for October 29, 2026. It is a Game-Key Card edition, not a conventional cartridge containing all game data. The announcement specifies:

  • Internet access is required.
  • At least 10 GB of free storage is needed for the initial game download.
  • Later updates may require additional storage.
  • The package includes the base game and the Expansion Pass entitlement for that announced edition.

This information applies to the Singapore announcement and should not be used as a universal description of packaging in North America, Europe, or other markets. Nintendo’s announcement is available at Nintendo Singapore’s October 9, 2026 package notice.

The same notice distinguishes the standalone Expansion Pass DLC from the package: the DLC has no game card and requires ownership of Pokémon Pokopia. If a retailer describes a product as “physical,” verify whether it is a full cartridge, a Game-Key Card, or a download code before buying.

Storage, internet, and account checks before purchase

  • For the Singapore Game-Key Card package, plan for an internet connection and at least 10 GB of free space before first play; reserve more space for updates.
  • For digital purchases, ensure the Switch 2 has enough storage for the base game, DLC files, and future updates. The cited pages do not state a universal digital file-size figure.
  • Buy with the Nintendo Account that will use the content, and keep the account’s eShop region consistent with the game’s purchase where possible.
  • Confirm that your console is a Nintendo Switch 2 before paying; the reviewed listings do not promise original-Switch support.
  • If buying a bundle, read whether it is digital or a Game-Key Card package and whether the base game is included in that exact listing.

Release timing and what remains uncertain

The announced schedule is precise only for Part 1: Bubbly Basin released August 4, 2026. Part 2 is described as late 2026, and Part 3 as 2027. Nintendo may change planned dates, so avoid relying on an unofficial calendar or a retailer estimate.

Nintendo’s official pages reviewed here also do not settle every market’s price, stock status, edition format, or cross-region DLC compatibility. Those details can differ by country and can change after publication. Use the Nintendo store serving your account’s region for the final transaction terms.

Purchase checklist

  • Do you own Pokémon Pokopia for Nintendo Switch 2?
  • Are you buying the pass in the same market as the game, or have you confirmed an exception with Nintendo?
  • Does the listing say standalone DLC, a digital bundle, or a Game-Key Card package?
  • If it is the Singapore package, can your connection download at least 10 GB and accommodate later updates?
  • Have you reached the point where you can learn Dive and complete Raise the environment level! in Bleak Beach?
  • Are you buying for Bubbly Basin now while understanding that Parts 2 and 3 arrive later?

For the current DLC catalog and access guidance, consult Nintendo’s support pages for available content and access troubleshooting before completing a purchase.
