A preview of Pokémon Pokopia displays concept art for Peakychu, Mosslax, Smearguru, Professor Tangrowth and several Ditto transformations. Peakychu is officially described as a peculiar-looking Pikachu, but the available sources do not identify who first published the specific images or when they first appeared.
What the Pokopia concept art shows
The Serebii preview presents a gallery of character concepts associated with Pokémon Pokopia. Its listed images include:
- Ditto transformed into Dragonite
- Ditto in a human transformation
- Ditto transformed into Lapras
- Mosslax
- Peakychu
- Smearguru
- Professor Tangrowth
The gallery establishes which designs the preview displays; it does not, by itself, establish who first made each image public. Nor should a concept image be treated as confirmation of a character’s type, backstory or final-game mechanics unless an official source states those details.
Who is Peakychu?
The official Pokémon Pokopia page describes Peakychu as a peculiar-looking Pikachu. The character is also referred to as “Pikachu (Peakychu)” in remarks attributed to the game’s chief director. The available official material supports calling her an unusual or pale-looking Pikachu; it does not confirm the fan interpretation that she is a Ghost type.

What the developers said about the designs
Pokémon Pokopia is co-developed by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK and KOEI TECMO, as stated in The Pokémon Company’s November 13, 2025 announcement. In a Famitsu interview translated and reported by GamesRadar+, chief director Takuto Edagawa said the designs were done by Game Freak staff and that the co-development team was “surprised and thrilled” when it first saw them.
Edagawa also described Peakychu’s “temporal and melancholy feel” as impressive, saying the team internally called the character “unfortunate Pikachu.” Those are translated remarks as presented by GamesRadar+, not a direct quotation verified against a complete English transcript. The official announcement confirms the companies’ co-development relationship; the more specific account of design authorship comes from the interview.

Who shared the art first?
The preview is evidence that the concept art was displayed, but the available sources do not establish the original sharer, first post or exact publication date of these specific images. It is therefore accurate to say that a Pokopia preview displays the art, but not to attribute its first release to a particular social account or publisher.

For context beyond the artwork, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo announced on August 14, 2026 that the game had sold more than 5 million copies worldwide in its first four months after its March 5 launch. The companies attributed the figure to Nintendo data and said it includes digital sales; it is not a separate estimate of physical copies. Their sales announcement provides those qualifications.
The Pokémon Company later announced additional Expansion Pass details on September 9, 2026: Part 1 was available, Part 2 was planned for late 2026, and Part 3 for 2027. This is later game-content context, not evidence about when or by whom the concept art was first shared. See the Expansion Pass announcement.
