There are two unrelated Minecraft projects called “Pokemon Adventure.” The current pack most players mean is COBBLEVERSE – Pokemon Adventure [Cobblemon], built for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 on Fabric. The older GWSheridan pack is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.10.2 and requires different files and commands. Confirm which one you downloaded before installing anything.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
This guide covers current Cobbleverse client installation, RAM planning, self-hosted Linux and Windows servers, managed hosting, version matching, and the legacy-pack warning.
Which Pokemon Adventure modpack do you have?
Use the project identity, Minecraft version, and mod loader—not just the short name—to determine which instructions apply.
| Project | Minecraft version | Loader | What it provides |
|---|---|---|---|
| COBBLEVERSE – Pokemon Adventure [Cobblemon] | 1.21.1 | Fabric | Current adventure pack with Cobblemon, gyms, badges, custom structures, starter content, music and shaders. The project descriptions claim all 1,025 Pokémon on Modrinth and 93 Mega Evolutions on CurseForge; those counts can change between releases. |
| Pokemon Adventure by GWSheridan | 1.10.2 | Forge | Separate legacy pack with its own server files. Its CurseForge page listed 1,000,241 downloads and a last update of January 12, 2018. |
The rest of this article assumes you want the current Cobbleverse pack. A dedicated legacy section explains what to do if you intentionally mean the 1.10.2 Forge project.

Current Cobbleverse requirements
Use Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1
Cobbleverse targets the Java Edition 1.21.1 runtime. Bedrock Edition, another Minecraft release, or a different loader will not match the supplied pack files. Every client and the server must use the same Minecraft version, Fabric loader line and Cobbleverse build.
Choose an official distribution
Install the pack from its Modrinth or CurseForge project listing. The project documentation describes the Modrinth App as the official distribution route. GDLauncher documentation also supports creating a Fabric instance and installing the required loader automatically. Do not substitute a similarly named 1.10.2 Forge pack.
Plan memory realistically
| Use case | Starting allocation | What changes the requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player client | At least 4 GB allocated to Minecraft for smooth play | View distance, shaders, texture settings, background programs and world complexity |
| Multiplayer client or small server | 6 GB or more is a practical starting point | Player count, chunk generation, entities, automated farms, view distance and simultaneous client shaders |
| Larger or busy server | More than 6 GB may be necessary; measure usage rather than guessing | Concurrent players, exploration speed, loaded chunks, datapacks and CPU performance |
These figures are project guidance, not a guaranteed benchmark. Leave memory for the operating system and other services. Giving Java every gigabyte in the machine can make the host less stable because the operating system still needs RAM.

RAM is only one part of the requirement. A server generating new terrain for several explorers can become CPU-bound, while a client running shaders may be limited by its graphics card. Storage also matters: keep free space for the world, logs, crash reports and dated backups. Monitor memory, CPU, tick time and disk space while a few players explore instead of treating the allocation as a promise of a fixed player count.
Install Cobbleverse on a client
- Identify the listing. In the launcher, select COBBLEVERSE – Pokemon Adventure [Cobblemon], not the older GWSheridan project.
- Create the correct instance. Choose Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 and Fabric. If using the Modrinth App, install the published pack directly. In GDLauncher, create a Fabric 1.21.1 instance and import or install the supported pack version.
- Check the current file. The CurseForge listing showed release 1.7.42 for 1.21.1 Fabric on July 22, 2026. Treat that number as a time-stamped reference; select the current compatible file shown by the project when you install.
- Allocate memory. Set 4 GB for a smooth single-player starting point. For multiplayer, start at 6 GB or more if your computer has sufficient physical RAM.
- Launch once without custom changes. Allow the launcher to download dependencies and generate the instance. Start a test world before adding optional shaders, resource packs or extra mods.
- Join a server only after matching versions. The client’s Minecraft version, Fabric loader, Cobbleverse build and included mods must correspond to the server. A client that launches successfully can still be rejected when it connects if one component differs.
Client settings that affect memory
- Lower view and simulation distance first if you see stutter or long pauses.
- Disable shaders temporarily when diagnosing crashes or low frame rates; shaders increase client GPU and memory pressure but do not fix a server-side loader mismatch.
- Close browsers, recording tools and other memory-heavy applications before increasing the Java allocation.
- Keep a clean profile for troubleshooting so an optional mod or resource pack is not mistaken for a Cobbleverse problem.
After the first successful launch, copy the instance or note its profile version before experimenting. Add one optional change at a time and test a new single-player world. This makes it possible to identify whether a visual add-on, resource pack or manually installed mod caused a crash, rather than blaming the base pack.
Self-host a Cobbleverse server
The maintained Cobbleverse server-pack repository supplies a ready-made Fabric server structure, configuration files, datapacks and startup guidance for Linux and Windows. It specifies Minecraft 1.21.1 and Fabric Loader 0.16.14. Use that server pack rather than trying to assemble the client’s mods manually.
Before you start
- A machine that can remain online while players connect.
- Java compatible with Minecraft 1.21.1 and the supplied Fabric launcher.
- At least 6 GB of RAM available for a typical multiplayer starting point; reserve additional headroom for players and world generation.
- Permission to open the listening port on your router and firewall if friends will connect from outside your home network.
- A backup location for the world, configuration files and datapacks.
Do not generate a production world until command blocks are enabled as instructed by the server-pack repository. Some adventure mechanics depend on command blocks.
Download the server archive to a dedicated folder, not to the client’s instance directory. Keeping server and client files separate prevents a launcher update or a client-only mod from replacing server configuration. Write down the archive version and loader version when you unpack it; that record helps you reproduce the installation after a hardware failure.
Linux setup
- Download the current Cobbleverse server archive from the maintained server-pack repository.
- Extract it into a dedicated directory and change into that directory in a terminal.
- Start the server once, or create
eula.txtyourself, then open it and change the line toeula=true. You must accept Mojang’s EULA before the server can run. - Launch the supplied Fabric server with a command such as:
java -Xmx8G -Xms4G -jar fabric-server-mc.1.21.1-loader.0.16.14-launcher.1.1.0.jar nogui - Adjust
-Xmx8Gand-Xms4Gto fit the machine. The example gives Java an 8 GB maximum and starts it with 4 GB; it is not a universal requirement. - Wait for the server to finish generating files, then stop it cleanly from the console with
stop. - Edit
server.propertiesfor the server name, MOTD, port and gameplay settings. Keep a note of any changed values. - Start the server again and test locally before sharing the address.
Run the command from the directory containing the launcher. If you use a service manager or shell script later, preserve the working directory and the same memory flags. The nogui argument is appropriate for a headless Linux machine; the console still displays startup messages and accepts administrative commands.
Windows setup
- Extract the server archive with 7-Zip, WinRAR or another archive utility into a folder such as
C:CobbleverseServer. - Open Command Prompt in that folder. In File Explorer, you can use the address bar to type
cmdand press Enter. - Create or edit
eula.txtso it containseula=true. - Run the Fabric launcher command:
java -Xmx8G -Xms4G -jar fabric-server-mc.1.21.1-loader.0.16.14-launcher.1.1.0.jar nogui - If Windows reports that
javais not recognized, install a compatible Java runtime, reopen Command Prompt and verify withjava -version. - Stop the first run with
stop, configureserver.properties, and enable command blocks before generating the adventure map. - For convenient restarts, place the command in a
.batfile in the server directory. Keep the window open while the server is running so you can read startup and error messages.
Do not double-click several batch files at once: each process would attempt to use the same world. A simple batch file can restart the server after a clean stop, but review logs after a crash before allowing an automatic loop to continue. Keep the server folder out of synchronized consumer folders that may lock region files while the game is writing them.
Configure the network
Players on the same local network can usually connect using the host computer’s private IP address. Players elsewhere need the server’s public address and a router port-forwarding rule to the port specified in server.properties, plus a firewall rule allowing Java on that port. Exposing a port makes administration and security important: use strong operating-system accounts, update the server deliberately, whitelist players where appropriate, and never publish private management credentials.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteGive the host computer a stable private address or a DHCP reservation so a reboot does not invalidate the forwarding rule. Test the port from a different network, such as a phone hotspot, because testing your own public address from inside the same network can fail on routers without hairpin support. If the provider uses carrier-grade NAT, inbound forwarding may be impossible; do not repeatedly weaken firewall rules to compensate.
Backups and upgrades
- Stop the server before copying the world, configuration directory or datapacks.
- Keep dated backups outside the live server folder so a failed update cannot overwrite every copy.
- Record the Minecraft version, Fabric loader, Cobbleverse build and any manual edits with each backup.
- Test a new pack build on a copy of the world before replacing a working production installation.
- Do not remove datapacks or configuration files merely because a new archive contains different defaults; compare changes first.
Keep at least one backup that is not mounted as the live server’s writable directory. Before an upgrade, save the current archive, copy the world, and list every manual change. Start the new build against the copy, visit gyms and other progression areas, and inspect the console for missing registries or datapack errors. Only then schedule maintenance for the shared world.
Managed hosting versus self-hosting
The project pages describe one-click installation through a Minecraft server control panel and recommend at least 6 GB of RAM for a strong multiplayer experience. They also describe the project team’s use of an EX-series machine from a hosting provider and mention Nitrado as an alternative. Those are project-page recommendations and experience statements, not independent performance or latency tests. Check current prices, limits, support terms and any affiliate disclosure before purchasing.
| Decision factor | Self-hosted server | Managed server |
|---|---|---|
| Version and loader matching | You download and maintain the exact 1.21.1 Fabric server pack and Loader 0.16.14. | A control panel may install the pack automatically, but you still must select the matching build and verify updates. |
| Memory and CPU | Limited by your own hardware; reserve capacity for the operating system and other services. | Choose a plan with at least 6 GB as a starting point and check CPU, storage and player limits, not RAM alone. |
| Configuration control | Full access to server.properties, datapacks, logs, backups and startup flags. |
Usually available through a panel and file manager, but provider restrictions can limit low-level changes. |
| Installation effort | Requires Java setup, extraction, EULA acceptance, firewall and possible port forwarding. | One-click installation reduces setup work and may include automated restart tools. |
| Network exposure | You secure your own router, firewall and operating system. | The provider handles the public network layer, while you still secure accounts, permissions and server files. |
| Cost | No recurring hosting fee if you already own suitable hardware, but electricity, bandwidth and maintenance remain your responsibility. | Recurring monthly cost buys convenience, remote availability and support; plan prices and limits vary. |
Choose self-hosting when you need complete control, already have a reliable machine and are comfortable maintaining Java, networking and backups. Choose managed hosting when one-click deployment, a data-center connection and support are worth the recurring fee.
Compare the whole plan, not just its advertised RAM. Ask whether the pack is installed at the exact release you need, whether backups cost extra, how restores work, which CPU is assigned, and whether support will handle Fabric-specific logs. A cheaper plan can cost more in time if it limits file access or charges for storage and snapshots. Conversely, an existing home machine may appear free while adding electricity, upload bandwidth and your own maintenance hours.
Troubleshoot common installation and connection failures
“Incompatible mod set” or a loader error
Confirm that both sides use Minecraft 1.21.1, Fabric rather than Forge, the same Cobbleverse file and compatible Fabric Loader versions. Remove manually added mods and test the unmodified pack. Never use the legacy 1.10.2 Forge server files with the current Fabric client.
The server closes immediately
- Check that
eula.txtcontains exactlyeula=true. - Verify the Java installation with
java -version. - Confirm that the jar filename in the command exactly matches the file in the server directory.
- Read the final lines of the console log for a missing file, invalid Java version or insufficient memory.
- Run the supplied launcher from the server-pack directory rather than from another working directory.
Players cannot connect from outside the home
Test locally first. Then verify the server is listening on the port in server.properties, the operating-system firewall permits Java, and the router forwards that port to the host computer’s private IP. Some internet providers use carrier-grade NAT, which can prevent inbound connections even when forwarding is configured; a managed server or a private networking solution may be necessary in that situation.
World generation is slow or players rubber-band
World generation and entity load stress CPU as well as RAM. Lower view and simulation distance, avoid exploring rapidly with too many players during first-generation work, and inspect the server log for repeated errors. Increase memory only when monitoring shows Java is actually constrained; extra RAM cannot compensate for a weak CPU or a broken datapack.

Check that command blocks were enabled before the map was generated, that the supplied datapacks are present and that you did not overwrite their configuration. Restore the last known-good backup if a datapack or version change broke progression.
The client crashes after adding shaders or mods
Return to a clean Cobbleverse profile and launch without the addition. If the clean profile works, reintroduce one change at a time and check that it supports Fabric 1.21.1. Shaders primarily affect client rendering; changing them will not repair a server’s missing mod, wrong loader or failed datapack.

The separate legacy Pokemon Adventure pack
If you intentionally mean GWSheridan’s older project, stop here and switch to its own files. That pack targets Minecraft 1.10.2 with Forge, not Minecraft 1.21.1 with Fabric. Use the legacy project’s listed client and server downloads, install the matching Forge profile, and follow its server instructions. Do not reuse the Cobbleverse jar command, Fabric Loader 0.16.14, or current server archive.
Third-party hosting pages have described 4 GB as a starting recommendation and 6 GB or more for additional headroom for the legacy pack. Those figures are host recommendations rather than universal requirements. The historical CurseForge page listed 1,000,241 downloads and a January 12, 2018 last-update date, so expect older dependencies and different troubleshooting steps.
Because the legacy project is from a different Minecraft generation, modern launcher defaults, Java versions, mod APIs and world formats may not match its documentation. Keep its installation in a separate instance and server directory. If you switch between projects, label backups with both the pack name and Minecraft version so a 1.10.2 world is never opened accidentally by the 1.21.1 server.
Pre-launch checklist
- Project identity is confirmed: current Cobbleverse or legacy GWSheridan pack.
- Minecraft version, loader and pack build match on every client and the server.
- Client memory is at least 4 GB for single-player; multiplayer planning starts at 6 GB or more.
- Server archive comes from the maintained Cobbleverse server-pack distribution.
- Fabric Loader 0.16.14 and Minecraft 1.21.1 are used for the current server pack.
eula.txtcontainseula=true.- Command blocks are enabled before the adventure map is generated.
server.propertieshas the intended name, MOTD and port.- Firewall, router forwarding and player permissions are configured before inviting people.
- World, configs and datapacks have a tested backup.
- The host has free disk space and enough CPU headroom for new-chunk generation.
- A maintenance plan identifies who can stop, update and restore the server.
Frequently Asked Questions
What version of Minecraft does Cobbleverse Pokemon Adventure use?
The current COBBLEVERSE – Pokemon Adventure [Cobblemon] pack targets Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 with Fabric. Match that version on every client and the server.
Can I run Pokemon Adventure on Fabric?
Yes. The current Cobbleverse release is a Fabric pack for 1.21.1. The separate GWSheridan project is Forge for 1.10.2, so its files are not interchangeable.
How much RAM does a Cobblemon server need?
Use 6 GB or more as a multiplayer starting point, then monitor actual use. Player count, rapid exploration, loaded chunks, entities, datapacks and CPU speed can require more. A single-player client is guided at 4 GB or more.
Where do I get the server files?
Use the maintained Cobbleverse server-pack distribution, which includes the Fabric structure, configs, datapacks and launch guidance. Do not build a server by copying a client folder at random.
Best Value
What Fabric Loader does the current server pack specify?
The server-pack instructions specify Fabric Loader 0.16.14 for Minecraft 1.21.1. Verify the archive’s current launcher filename before running a command, because pack files can change.
Why can I launch the pack but not join my friend’s server?
A successful client launch does not prove compatibility. Check Minecraft 1.21.1, Fabric, the exact Cobbleverse build, included mods and loader versions on both sides. Then check the server port, firewall and router forwarding.
Do command blocks need to be enabled?
Yes. Enable command blocks before generating the adventure map, as some progression features depend on them. Keep the supplied datapacks and their configuration files intact.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Should I self-host or rent a server?
Self-hosting offers full control and can avoid a recurring hosting bill when you already have suitable hardware, but you manage Java, networking, security, backups and electricity. Managed hosting costs monthly but can provide one-click installation, remote availability and support. Compare CPU, storage, backups and limits as well as RAM.
Can I use the old 1.10.2 Pokemon Adventure files with Cobbleverse?
No. The GWSheridan pack uses Forge and Minecraft 1.10.2. Keep its client and server files in a separate installation and follow its own documentation.
What should I back up before updating?
Stop the server and copy the world, configuration files and datapacks to dated storage outside the live directory. Record the Minecraft version, Fabric loader, pack build and manual edits, then test the new build on a copy first.
The Bottom Line
For the current Pokemon Adventure experience, install COBBLEVERSE on Minecraft Java 1.21.1 with Fabric, allocate at least 4 GB to a client and plan on 6 GB or more for multiplayer. Use the maintained server pack, enable command blocks before generating the map, and match the exact pack and loader on every connection. Self-hosting gives control but requires networking and backups; managed hosting trades a recurring fee for simpler deployment. If your files say Minecraft 1.10.2 and Forge, you have the separate legacy GWSheridan pack and must follow its instructions instead.
