A POCO handset identified by model number 2609CPC5FG has reportedly received approval from Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), prompting speculation that it is the upcoming POCO X8s. The device’s identity, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, and launch timing have not been confirmed by POCO. The certification report is a possible sign of progress, not proof that a launch is imminent.
What the reported certification says
In an October 13, 2026 report, Xpertpick said IMDA approved a POCO handset carrying model number 2609CPC5FG and associated it with the POCO X8s. The IMDA record was not independently inspected for this report, and the available coverage does not include an official POCO confirmation of the phone’s name or specifications. Treat the X8s identification as a reported possibility, not a confirmed product announcement.
Earlier certification-related reporting connected global model 2609CPC5FG with Chinese-market model M583CF, which was expected to use Redmi branding in China and POCO branding internationally. ANTARA reported that the device was expected in China as a Redmi model and in global markets as a POCO phone, including Europe, Russia, and Turkey. Those market plans remain expectations reported by the outlet, rather than confirmed sales plans.

Is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 confirmed?
No. Xpertpick’s October 13 report raised the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 as a possible chipset, but did not cite an official POCO specification confirmation. Canaltech had said in its September 24 coverage that the chipset was not yet known. The processor claim is therefore speculative and conflicts with earlier reporting that no chipset information was available.

What specifications have been reported?
The limited device details reported so far come from certification-related information, not an official specification sheet. ANTARA attributed the following camera details to that information:
- A 50-megapixel main camera.
- 0.6x, 1x, and 2.5x capture options.
A 2.5x option does not establish that the phone has a dedicated telephoto camera; it could describe a crop or another camera behavior. The available reports do not verify the camera hardware or image quality.

Canaltech’s September 24 report said the chipset, battery, charging, display, memory, price, and availability in Brazil had not been disclosed. The reviewed coverage does not provide a confirmed, complete specification sheet.

There is no company-confirmed launch date. A September 26, 2026 Memeburn article estimated that an announcement might come between late October and November 2026, interpreting the model code and certification activity. Memeburn explicitly described this as its own estimate and said Xiaomi had not scheduled an event.

That estimate should not be read as a release window promised by POCO. Certification can precede a product announcement, but the reported approval alone does not establish when a phone will be announced or go on sale.

ANTARA’s references to China, Europe, Russia, Turkey, and other global markets describe expected branding and reach, not a confirmed launch in each country. Availability in Brazil was also not disclosed in Canaltech’s September 24 report.

If you are deciding whether to wait for the X8s or choose another phone, the key details still to verify are local price and availability, chipset, battery and charging, display, and whether the 2.5x camera mode is optical or digital. The current reports do not support a definitive buying recommendation.
