There is no clear overall value winner between the India-market POCO M8 Power and China-market vivo Y500. vivo lists a larger typical battery and faster charging for the Y500; POCO launch coverage reports a longer software-update commitment for the M8 Power. But the cited prices are from different countries and dates, so they cannot establish which phone is the better buy for you. vivo’s specifications and prices are from its official China product information and September 2025 launch announcement (vivo Y500 specifications; vivo launch announcement). POCO details here come from India launch reports dated August 4, 2026 (Gadgets 360; Mint). These are specifications and launch prices, not independent test results or verified current street prices.
Which one is the better value for your budget?
Compare prices only within the same market
The Y500’s listed prices are in Chinese yuan for China-market configurations. The M8 Power’s cited prices are Indian rupees for India-market configurations. Currency conversion would not account for local taxes, availability, seller pricing, warranty coverage or differences in network compatibility. The figures also describe launch pricing rather than a current price check; POCO coverage included conditional launch offers that should not be treated as current deals.

Before choosing, check the phones’ current local prices for the same RAM and storage tier. The cited launch configurations do not match exactly: vivo’s least expensive listed Y500 has 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, while POCO’s lowest reported M8 Power tier has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Also confirm who provides the warranty and where service is available in your country.

Choose the trade-off that matters most
- Battery capacity and charging rating: vivo’s published figures are higher: 8,200mAh typical capacity and 90W charging, versus POCO’s reported 8,000mAh and 45W wired charging. These ratings do not prove which phone lasts longer in everyday use or how quickly either one charges in real conditions.
- Software support: POCO’s reported four Android-version upgrades and six years of security updates are a specific commitment, but they do not establish when updates will arrive on a particular schedule.
- Display and storage: vivo provides a defined 6.77-inch, 2392×1080, 120Hz AMOLED specification and UFS 3.1 storage. The POCO display is also reported as FHD+ AMOLED at 120Hz, but its diagonal differs between the two launch reports.
- Local usability: verify supported network bands for your carrier, local warranty terms, and after-sales support before buying an imported or region-specific model. vivo publishes China-market band information; compatibility elsewhere should not be assumed.
What the published specifications cannot tell you
A larger battery rating does not establish longer battery life: screen brightness, signal conditions, software, workload and other factors affect endurance. Charging wattage alone does not give a verified charge time. Likewise, chipset names and storage specifications do not establish sustained performance, and camera megapixel counts do not show which phone takes better photos. No comparable independent battery, camera or performance tests are established by the cited sources, so these aspects cannot support a definitive winner here.
For the Y500, vivo specifies a 50MP main rear camera, a 2MP depth camera and an 8MP front camera. The cited POCO launch reports do not provide a comparable camera basis for judging image quality. Treat the camera comparison as unresolved rather than inferring results from incomplete specifications.

How to make the final choice
- Set your buying country. Start with models officially sold where you live, or confirm the implications of importing either phone.
- Check the exact configuration and current price. Match RAM and storage as closely as possible, and verify stock, seller, taxes and any offer conditions.
- Confirm practical support. Check your carrier’s network-band requirements, the warranty provider, repair access and local after-sales support.
- Pick your priority. The Y500’s published specifications favor battery capacity and charging speed; POCO’s launch coverage documents a longer software-update commitment. Neither specification alone determines overall value.
- Look for independent evidence on your deciding feature. If camera quality, real-world endurance or sustained performance will decide the purchase, seek comparable testing for the exact regional models rather than relying on spec sheets.
