Several PlayStation Store game and virtual-currency prices reportedly increased in South Korea, but Sony has not confirmed a worldwide increase in PlayStation Store prices. The October 13, 2026 report names multiple affected items and gives specific South Korean won prices; it does not establish that the changes apply elsewhere or explain Sony’s reason.

What changed in South Korea’s PlayStation Store?

On October 13, 2026, iXBT Games reported that prices for several games in South Korea’s PlayStation Store had risen by between ₩2,000 and ₩15,000. The report names Elden Ring, both Nioh Remastered titles, Remnant 2, Disco Elysium: The Final Cut and Nine Sols. These are reported changes, not an independently audited price history. iXBT Games’ report cites Gamestalk and attributes part of its account to GameMeca.

Reported prices for named items

Item Reported previous price Reported new price What the report establishes
Elden Ring ₩64,800 ₩79,800 About a 23% increase, according to iXBT Games.
Other named games Not stated by iXBT Games Not stated by iXBT Games The report says increases ranged from ₩2,000 to ₩15,000 across the affected games.
5,750 Caliber bundle in The First Descendant ₩109,800 ₩129,800 A virtual-currency bundle price change, not a game-price change.
Genshin Impact virtual currency Not stated by iXBT Games Not stated by iXBT Games The report says similar changes were noticed but gives no exact price.

The report also says Sony first-party games, including Marvel’s Wolverine and God of War, retained their previous prices at that point. That is a snapshot, not a guarantee that their prices will remain unchanged.

Will Sony raise PlayStation Store prices worldwide?

There is no confirmed worldwide PlayStation Store game-price increase in the October 13 report. It describes South Korean Store changes and says their spread to other regions was unconfirmed. That means the report neither announces a global policy nor establishes that further changes cannot happen.

The report says Sony Korea sought clarification from headquarters. A publisher representative suggested exchange-rate adjustments as a possible explanation, but that was not a confirmed explanation from Sony. Treat currency movements as speculation, not Sony’s stated reason.

How this differs from Sony’s confirmed 2026 hardware increase

Sony separately announced on March 27, 2026, that recommended prices for PS5, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal would rise globally, effective April 2, 2026. The announcement concerned hardware, not PlayStation Store game listings. Sony’s US recommended prices were:

Hardware US recommended price effective April 2, 2026
PS5 $649.99
PS5 Digital Edition $599.99
PS5 Pro $899.99

Sony also listed prices for the UK, Europe and Japan. Its March 27 announcement attributed the hardware decision to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” Sony’s PlayStation.Blog announcement and Associated Press coverage document that separate hardware change; neither confirms a worldwide increase in game prices.

Do earlier PlayStation Store discount reports explain this change?

No. TechRadar reported on March 10, 2026, that PSPrices had observed a Sony Store experiment involving different discounts for selected users in different regions. On September 9, TechRadar covered user reports of differing discounts on Star Wars Jedi games. Those reports concern discounts or experimental offer presentation. They do not explain the October South Korean increases, and they do not prove that Sony charges everyone different base prices. See the March report and the September report.

Sony’s July 2026 investor Q&A summary says PS Plus profitability uses several levers, including pricing, subscription-tier mix and content-acquisition efficiency. It does not say Sony plans an upcoming worldwide PlayStation Store game-price increase. Sony’s investor Q&A summary is about subscription profitability, not an announcement of Store price changes.

What players can conclude from the report

  • The reported increases concern South Korea’s PlayStation Store.
  • Elden Ring was reported at ₩79,800, up from ₩64,800; other named games and virtual-currency items were also affected.
  • Sony’s reason for the South Korean changes was not confirmed in the report.
  • No international rollout was confirmed. The evidence supports concern about a possible broader change, not a claim that one has been announced.
  • The separately confirmed April hardware increase and earlier discount-experiment coverage are different stories.

The figures here are South Korean won prices reported by iXBT Games. Its approximate dollar conversions are date-sensitive and should not be mistaken for official prices in the United States or another market.
