Which Nintendo Switch game do you think belongs in a list of must-play games—and why? Tell us the title, what makes it worth playing, and who you think would enjoy it. A great recommendation can be a famous favorite or a less obvious pick; the useful part is helping another player decide whether it fits them.
What makes a recommendation useful?
“Best” depends on how you like to play. Nintendo describes its own recommendations as “a variety of different experiences” and “just a smattering of games,” a helpful reminder that no single list can cover every taste. When you recommend a game, include the detail that would help someone choose it:

- The reason: Is it memorable for its story, exploration, challenge, creativity, competition, or something else?
- The player it suits: Is it a good fit for a solo explorer, a racing fan, a family, or someone who prefers short sessions?
- How it plays with others: Is it best alone, with friends on one system, or online? Mention any extra games, systems, accessories, or subscription requirements you know about.
- The exact game and platform: Give the full title and say whether you mean the Nintendo Switch version or a Nintendo Switch 2 edition.
Nintendo’s beginner recommendations offer examples across play styles: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for open-ended exploration; Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for racing and battles; Hades for action and repeated runs with story progression; and Pikmin 4 for strategy and exploration. The same page also points to online squad play in Fortnite, creature collecting in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, and group dancing in Just Dance 2025 Edition. These are prompts for the kinds of games readers might suggest, not a complete ranking. See Nintendo’s recommendations.
Which kinds of games should we hear about?
Think beyond one genre. Play Nintendo’s poll includes party play, simulation, strategy, creative tools, platforming, and dance alongside creature-collecting games. Its examples include Mario Party Superstars, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain, Game Builder Garage, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Just Dance 2022. If you recommend multiplayer, be specific about whether it is local or online; Play Nintendo notes that some multiplayer games may require additional games, systems, or accessories. Age ratings also vary by game and edition, so check the rating for the exact version you mean. Browse Play Nintendo’s poll examples.

Tell us what the rankings leave out
Published lists are useful starting points, but they reflect particular editors, dates, and methods—not a universal answer. Nintendo Life’s 2026 guide, for example, places The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild first, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 third, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fifth, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sixth. Metacritic’s 2025 list instead ranks games released that year on Switch or Switch 2 by critic scores, requiring at least seven scored professional reviews. Those approaches answer different questions from a reader recommendation. Read Nintendo Life’s 2026 guide or see Metacritic’s 2025 list and method.
Our question is simpler: what game did we miss that you think another player should try? It might be a well-known favorite that deserves a fresh mention, or a game that rarely appears in the big lists. Nintendo’s current must-play collection covers both Switch 2 and original Switch, and includes future release listings as well as released games. If you refer to a new or upcoming title, make clear whether it is available to play yet and which platform edition you mean. Check Nintendo’s current must-play collection.
