“PLT” does not identify one headset: Plantronics/Poly has several distinct headset families, and their controls, firmware steps, and accessories are not interchangeable. Find the exact model name or number on the headset, packaging, or its support materials before following instructions or buying parts. The Voyager 5200 Series instructions below are a model-specific example, not a universal PLT guide.
Identify the exact Plantronics headset first
Official support materials cover separate families including Voyager 4300, Voyager 8200, Blackwire 3300, Blackwire 5200, and Voyager Adapter products. “PLT” by itself is not enough to determine which setup steps or accessories apply. Check the label on the headset, its packaging, or the documentation associated with it, then use the support information for that model.
The instructions below draw on the Plantronics Voyager 5200 Series User Guide (2021). They should not be assumed to fit another model.

Pair it with a phone
- Turn on the headset. On first power-on, it enters pairing mode.
- Open Bluetooth settings on the phone and select “PLT V5200 Series.” Follow any prompts shown on the phone.
The 2021 user guide says the Voyager 5200 Series can pair with up to eight devices and maintain two simultaneous connections, including a Bluetooth USB adapter. Those are figures for this series, not for all PLT headsets.

Position it and manage calls
Wear the Voyager 5200 over and behind the ear, rotate the microphone boom toward your mouth, and change the eartip if needed for fit. The guide describes several ways to answer an incoming call: put on the headset, say “answer” after the call is announced, or tap the Call button. Press the Call button to end a call; press and hold it for two seconds to reject an incoming call. Use the Mute button to mute or unmute an active call.
Fix the Voyager 5200 problem “Callers can’t hear me”
If callers cannot hear you, the Voyager 5200 guide recommends checking the headset’s pairing and connection, repositioning it, and resetting or disabling its sensors. Where relevant, it also recommends disabling HD Voice through Plantronics Hub. Sensor behavior can vary with ear shape, and phone compatibility can affect audio behavior.

- Check the connection: confirm the headset is paired with and connected to the intended device.
- Adjust the fit: reposition the earpiece and microphone boom toward your mouth.
- Check the sensors: try resetting or disabling them if call behavior suggests a sensor issue.
- Check HD Voice: if applicable, disable it through Plantronics Hub and see whether the call audio changes.
Update Voyager 5200 firmware safely
The Voyager 5200 guide says Plantronics Hub can update firmware from a phone or computer. It advises taking the headset off, disconnecting it from other devices, and not using it or taking calls until the update finishes.

- Open Plantronics Hub on a phone or computer and follow its firmware-update instructions for the headset.
- Keep the headset off your ear and disconnected from other devices while the update runs; do not make or answer calls until it completes.
- If an update fails, connect the headset to a computer with USB and use Hub’s “Firmware Updates & Recovery” flow with the product ID, as described in the guide.
Other models may follow different procedures. Check the support page for the exact model before updating: instructions for one Voyager or Blackwire family should not be transferred to another.

Charging and accessories for the Voyager 5200 Series
The 2021 Voyager 5200 Series guide states that a full headset charge takes approximately 90 minutes. It also says a fully charged charge case can provide two full headset recharges and an additional 14 hours of talk time; this is the manufacturer’s stated figure, not an independent test.
The guide lists a vehicle power charger, eartips with foam covers, USB Bluetooth adapter, charge case, and wall charger as separately sold accessories. It lists a micro USB cable as included in the box. These references are specific to the Voyager 5200 Series; check exact model compatibility and current availability before purchasing any replacement or accessory.

Choosing instructions when you have a different PLT model
Once you have the model name or number, use its own current manual or product support page. For a useful comparison between headsets, check the details that matter to your setup rather than treating the PLT label as a product specification:

- Whether the headset is wired or Bluetooth, and whether it is intended for a phone, computer, or desk phone.
- How many devices it can pair with and how many it can connect to simultaneously.
- Wearing style, fit adjustments, call controls, and mute behavior.
- The correct firmware and recovery procedure.
- Which replacement eartips, charging options, or other accessories are listed for that exact model.
The available model-family information establishes that these products have separate support materials, but it does not establish a current head-to-head ranking or a universal compatibility list. Confirm specifications and parts against the documentation for the specific headset you own.
