Short answer: choose the Google Pixel 8 if you want a compact phone and the clearest long-term software commitment. Choose the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion if you prefer a much larger, faster-refreshing display, higher stated charging speed and, on the India specification, a substantially larger battery. There is no honest universal price winner: the available Pixel listing is for a US certified-refurbished device, while the reported Edge price is from the UK and Australia, so the difference changes with country, storage and condition.
The comparison below separates confirmed model information from Motorola’s region-dependent specifications. Google lists Pixel 8 details on its official Pixel hardware page. Motorola’s India support page and its global launch announcement do not describe the same battery and processor configuration, so check the exact local SKU before paying.
At a glance: which phone fits your priorities?
| Priority | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Small phone for one-handed use | Google Pixel 8 | 150.5 × 70.8 × 8.9 mm and 187 g, versus the India Edge 70 Fusion at 162.76 × 75.60 × 7.99 mm and 193 g. |
| Largest, smoothest display | Motorola Edge 70 Fusion | Motorola India specifies a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with up to 144 Hz; Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch OLED running at 60–120 Hz. |
| Longest stated update policy | Google Pixel 8 | Google promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates from first US Google Store availability. |
| Fast charging and maximum stated battery | Motorola Edge 70 Fusion (India SKU) | The India page lists 7,000 mAh and 68 W TurboPower, with the charger in the box. Other regions may receive a different configuration. |
| Simple price comparison | Neither can be declared universally cheaper | The cited Pixel prices are US certified-refurbished listings; the cited Motorola prices are UK/Australia review prices and are not a same-market comparison. |
These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent battery, camera or benchmark results. A higher refresh rate, a larger battery or a larger megapixel number does not by itself prove better real-world endurance, smoothness or image quality.

Display and physical design
Pixel 8: compact OLED
Google lists the Pixel 8 with a 6.2-inch OLED display at 1080 × 2400 resolution and a variable 60–120 Hz refresh rate. Its 150.5 mm height and 70.8 mm width make it the substantially smaller option in this comparison. At 187 g, it is also 6 g lighter than the India-listed Edge 70 Fusion.

- Compatible with Most GSM + CDMA Carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, MetroPCS, etc. Will Also work with CDMA Carriers Such as Verizon, Sprint.
The smaller panel is useful if you type or navigate with one hand, carry the phone in a shallow pocket, or dislike large phones. It also gives the Pixel a narrower body for cases and grips. The trade-off is less viewing area for spreadsheets, split-screen work, maps and wide video.
Edge 70 Fusion: more screen, higher peak refresh
Motorola India’s specification page lists a 6.8-inch AMOLED display at 2772 × 1272 with up to 144 Hz refresh. That is 0.6 inch more diagonal screen than the Pixel 8 and a higher maximum refresh setting. Scrolling and supported games can look smoother at higher refresh rates, although the actual rate can vary with software, brightness, thermal conditions and the app.
The India model measures 162.76 × 75.60 × 7.99 mm and weighs 193 g. It is therefore taller, wider and slightly heavier than the Pixel, but its listed 7.99 mm thickness is less than the Pixel 8’s 8.9 mm. The practical choice is straightforward: prioritize pocketability and reachability with the Pixel, or prioritize canvas size and peak refresh with the Edge.
Processor, RAM and storage
Pixel 8 configuration
Google specifies the Pixel 8 with its Tensor G3 processor, 8 GB of RAM and either 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. Both storage capacities use the same memory amount, so capacity rather than RAM is the main configuration decision.
Edge 70 Fusion configuration depends on market
Motorola’s India support page lists a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM, and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. Those options give buyers more RAM flexibility than the Pixel 8 on that page.
Do not treat the processor names as a benchmark result. No independent, directly comparable performance test is established here, and regional Edge 70 Fusion variants may not use the same chip. Motorola’s global launch announcement identifies Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 instead of Gen 4. Before ordering, read the seller’s specification line for the exact country, RAM and storage combination rather than assuming that an India listing describes every Edge 70 Fusion.
Battery capacity and charging
What the published figures say
| Phone and source | Battery figure | Charging statement |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 8, Google | Typical 4,575 mAh | Up to 50% in about 30 minutes with a separately sold 30 W USB-C charger. |
| Edge 70 Fusion, Motorola India | 7,000 mAh | 68 W TurboPower; the India page lists the charger in the box. |
| Edge 70 Fusion, Motorola global announcement | 5,200 mAh | The announcement describes the global-launch configuration; included charger details vary by market. |
On the India specification, Motorola’s battery number is much larger and its charging wattage is higher. That does not translate into a guaranteed number of hours: display size and refresh rate, cellular signal, camera use, gaming, temperature and software all affect endurance. The Pixel’s “up to 50%” statement is a manufacturer estimate under specified charging conditions, not a promise that every charger or cable will produce that result.

Why the Edge battery and chip conflict matters
Motorola’s own materials identify different Edge 70 Fusion hardware by region. The India support page, accessed October 7, 2026, says 7,000 mAh and Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. The global announcement says 5,200 mAh and Snapdragon 7s Gen 3; a TechRadar review also uses Gen 3 in its specification table and notes that some regions may have the 5,200 mAh battery. Treat these as market-specific configurations or inconsistent published materials, not as one universal specification.
If battery size is the deciding factor, confirm all of the following on the product page or box: country of sale, model/SKU, battery capacity, processor, RAM, storage and whether the 68 W charger is included. A listing that simply says “Edge 70 Fusion” is not enough evidence for the India numbers.
Camera hardware: similar headline resolution, different layouts
Pixel 8 cameras
Google lists a 50 MP wide rear camera and a 12 MP ultrawide camera with autofocus. Those figures describe sensor and lens hardware; they do not constitute an image-quality test. Pixel processing, exposure choices, motion handling and the scene itself can matter more than megapixels.
Edge 70 Fusion cameras
Motorola India’s page lists a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization and a 13 MP ultrawide camera with macro capability. Optical stabilization can help reduce shake in stills and video, but its presence does not prove that the Edge produces better photos than the Pixel. Likewise, 13 MP versus 12 MP ultrawide resolution is not a meaningful quality verdict by itself.
Choose on the camera evidence you can verify for your use: review samples from the exact regional model, stabilization behavior in video, autofocus performance, night scenes and the camera app’s controls. The published specifications alone support a hardware comparison, not a winner.
Software support and useful lifespan
Pixel 8: explicit seven-year commitment
Google says the Pixel 8 receives seven years of OS updates, security updates and Pixel Drops, counted from the phone’s first availability on the US Google Store. That is the clearest long-term support statement in this comparison and can matter more than a small difference in processor performance if you keep phones for many years.
Edge 70 Fusion: verify the regional policy
TechRadar’s Edge 70 Fusion review reports three years of OS updates for the model it reviewed. That period should be treated as review-attributed information, not a universal promise for every country or variant. Check Motorola’s support terms for your market, including the security-update end date, before buying if update longevity is important.

Update-counting dates also differ in practical impact. A phone bought long after launch has fewer remaining years than the headline policy suggests, so confirm the original availability date and the seller’s condition when comparing a new device with a refurbished one.

The dimensional gap is more noticeable in a pocket than the six-gram weight difference. The India Edge is 12.26 mm taller and 4.8 mm wider than the Pixel 8, while the Pixel is 0.91 mm thicker. That extra height can make reading long pages and editing documents easier, but it also moves the top of the screen farther from your thumb. The Edge’s slimmer listed profile may feel less bulky when held flat, yet its larger face still requires more hand movement.
A 144 Hz ceiling is useful only where the software permits it. Menus, compatible games and some scrolling interactions may appear more fluid than at 60 Hz, but the phone can lower refresh to manage power or because an app is capped. Pixel’s 120 Hz mode is already a high-refresh experience for ordinary navigation. Neither specification tells you brightness, outdoor legibility or color calibration, so seek a regional hands-on test if the screen is your main reason to upgrade.
The Edge’s 2772 × 1272 panel and the Pixel’s 1080 × 2400 panel also use different aspect proportions. Resolution totals should not be read as a direct quality ranking: screen size, pixel density, viewing distance and the app’s scaling all influence perceived sharpness. For text-heavy work, compare the actual display in person when possible.
Storage, memory and long-term ownership
Both phones are listed with 128 GB and 256 GB storage choices, so matching capacity is essential when comparing prices. The Edge’s India listing adds a 12 GB RAM option, while Google’s listed Pixel 8 configurations use 8 GB. Extra memory can help when several apps remain open, but it is not a guarantee of faster gaming or longer battery life. The processor, software tuning and thermal behavior still matter.
Think about your own storage pattern before paying for the larger tier. Frequent 4K video, offline maps, large games and downloaded music can consume 128 GB quickly; lighter users may find it sufficient. Do not assume that a lower-priced 128 GB phone is a bargain if the competing listing is 256 GB. If a seller omits storage in the headline, open the full configuration selector and save a screenshot of the chosen variant.

TechRadar’s review reports £379.99 in the UK and AU$499 in Australia, and said the phone was not on sale in the US at the time of review. Motorola’s global launch notice says availability is limited to selected countries in Latin America, EMEA and Asia Pacific and directs buyers to local teams for pricing. Its statement is: “For local price information and availability, please contact your local PR team.”
Because these figures differ in geography, storage disclosure and new-versus-refurbished condition, subtracting one from the other would create a misleading price difference. For a fair decision, compare both phones in your country, with the same storage capacity and the same condition, then add shipping, taxes, warranty coverage and the cost of any charger that is not included.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteHow to calculate a fair local difference
Start with two listings sold in the same currency. Select identical storage, record whether each phone is new, certified refurbished or used, and include delivery and tax. Then check warranty length, return window and whether a charger is included. The result is a total delivered cost, not merely the number shown beside the handset. Currency conversion from £379.99 or AU$499 into dollars can illustrate scale, but it does not create a US retail price or account for local taxes.
Availability itself can change the value equation. Motorola says the Edge 70 Fusion is sold only in selected countries across Latin America, EMEA and Asia Pacific. If official local stock is unavailable, an imported unit may have different network support, warranty service or charger hardware. A cheaper import can therefore carry more practical risk than a locally supported Pixel or Edge.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which phone should you buy?
Choose the Pixel 8 when compact size comes first
- You want a phone that is shorter and narrower for one-handed use.
- You prefer a 6.2-inch display rather than a 6.8-inch handset.
- You plan to keep the phone for years and value Google’s stated seven-year OS, security and Pixel Drop commitment.
- You are comfortable with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB storage.
- You are buying refurbished and have verified the warranty and battery condition.
Choose the Edge 70 Fusion when screen and charging take priority
- You want the largest display and the highest listed refresh rate in this pair.
- You value 68 W charging and, specifically on the India SKU, a 7,000 mAh battery.
- You want the possibility of 12 GB RAM, subject to the local storage variant.
- You prefer a thinner body even though it is taller, wider and slightly heavier overall.
- You have confirmed the exact regional processor, battery and charger bundle.
When neither specification sheet is enough
For gaming, sustained performance, camera quality and all-day endurance, seek testing of the exact model sold in your market. The supplied manufacturer figures establish dimensions and components but do not measure frame rates, screen brightness in use, charging time with every charger, photo quality or screen-on time.
Buyer checklist before you order
- Match the market. Confirm that the listing ships to your country and identify the regional model or SKU.
- Match storage. Compare 128 GB with 128 GB or 256 GB with 256 GB; do not compare a different capacity and call the result a phone-price difference.
- Check condition. Mark each listing as new, certified refurbished or used. For the cited Pixel prices, the condition is certified refurbished.
- Verify Edge hardware. Look for the processor generation, battery capacity, RAM and storage in the seller’s specification. India and global Motorola materials differ.
- Confirm the charger. The India support page lists a charger in the box; other regions may not. The Pixel charging statement assumes a separately sold 30 W USB-C charger.
- Read support terms. Verify update duration for the exact region and calculate how many years remain from the phone’s original availability.
- Price the complete purchase. Include tax, delivery, warranty, returns and any required charger before deciding which offer is cheaper.
Bottom line
The Pixel 8 is the better fit for buyers who value compact ergonomics and a clearly stated long support horizon. The Edge 70 Fusion is the more expansive hardware choice, especially for a large 144 Hz-class display and fast charging; the India version also lists a 7,000 mAh battery. Since Motorola’s regional specifications conflict and the available prices are not like-for-like, verify the local SKU and compare equivalent listings rather than choosing from headline numbers alone.

What is the price difference between the Pixel 8 and Edge 70 Fusion?
There is no reliable single difference from the cited figures. Google’s listing is for a US certified-refurbished Pixel 8 at $389 for 128 GB or $459 for 256 GB. TechRadar reported the Edge at £379.99 in the UK and AU$499 in Australia. Compare same-country, same-storage, same-condition listings with tax and delivery included.
Which phone has the better battery?
The India Edge 70 Fusion specification lists a 7,000 mAh battery and 68 W charging, while Google lists a typical 4,575 mAh Pixel 8 battery and up to 50% charging in about 30 minutes with a separately sold 30 W charger. Motorola’s global announcement lists a different 5,200 mAh Edge configuration, so verify the regional SKU before deciding.
Is the Edge 70 Fusion bigger than the Pixel 8?
Yes. The India-listed Edge measures 162.76 × 75.60 × 7.99 mm with a 6.8-inch display and weighs 193 g. The Pixel 8 measures 150.5 × 70.8 × 8.9 mm, has a 6.2-inch display and weighs 187 g. The Edge is taller, wider and slightly heavier, but its listed body thickness is lower.
Does 144 Hz make the Edge 70 Fusion automatically smoother than the Pixel 8?
No. Up to 144 Hz can make supported scrolling and games look smoother, but refresh rate changes with software, app support, brightness and power management. Pixel’s 60–120 Hz display is also a high-refresh panel. Independent testing of the exact regional model is needed for a real smoothness judgment.
Which phone has the better camera?
The specifications alone do not establish a winner. Pixel 8 has a 50 MP wide camera and 12 MP ultrawide with autofocus. The India Edge lists a 50 MP OIS main camera and 13 MP ultrawide with macro capability. Compare samples, autofocus, night performance and video stabilization from the exact models sold in your market.
How long will each phone receive updates?
Google states seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for Pixel 8, counted from first US Google Store availability. TechRadar reported three years of OS updates for its Edge 70 Fusion review unit. Motorola’s support policy can vary by market, so confirm the local security-update end date.
Is a refurbished Pixel 8 worth considering?
Google says its certified-refurbished Pixel 8 devices are quality-tested to Google standards, restored with authentic Pixel parts and covered by the same one-year warranty as new devices. Still check the listing’s battery condition, return terms, storage and current inventory before ordering.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe Bottom Line
Buy the Pixel 8 for compact design and seven-year support. Buy the Edge 70 Fusion for a larger, faster-refreshing screen and faster charging, but verify its regional battery, processor, charger and price before purchase.
