The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a meaningful refinement, not a reset: Google made it lighter and thinner than its predecessor, added a new main camera, brighter displays and faster wireless charging, and strengthened its durability claims. But reviewers still found it bulky beside some rivals, and raised concerns about its crease, camera detail and battery endurance under heavy use. It makes the most sense if you value Pixel software and a large inner screen more than the slimmest hardware or the strongest camera showing.
What changed in the Pixel 11 Pro Fold
Google announced the Pixel 11 Pro Fold on August 12, 2026, with retail availability set for August 20. The company described it as a thinner, lighter foldable with a new main camera, added durability and enhanced intelligence tools. Those are Google’s product claims; independent reviews identify improvements but also meaningful trade-offs. Google’s announcement
Body and displays
Google says the phone is almost 10% lighter and about 1 mm thinner than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It has an 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover display. Google says both are 20% brighter than the previous generation, with a peak brightness of 3,600 nits; WIRED also reports peak brightness of 3,600 nits and refresh rates up to 120 Hz. The larger unfolded screen is useful for multitasking, but its nearly square shape can leave large black bars around video. Google’s announcement WIRED’s review

Google lists IP68 dust and water protection, a glass-fiber composite back, a gearless hinge and a thicker inner-display glass layer. It says internal testing with pre-production devices found the phone three times as durable as last year’s model. Google cautions that results may vary and that the phone is not drop-, tumble-, scratch- or crack-proof, so the durability comparison is not a guarantee against damage. Google’s announcement

Charging, battery and hardware
Google specifies 30W wired charging and built-in Qi2.2 wireless charging up to 25W, and claims more than 24 hours of battery life. WIRED reports a 4,806-mAh battery, down from 5,015 mAh in the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and says demanding use sometimes led its reviewer to enable Battery Saver before bedtime. The capacity and the review experience do not establish how long every owner will get; workload and settings matter. Google’s announcement WIRED’s review
Google lists a Tensor G6 processor, 16GB of RAM, a 48MP main camera and up to 30x Super Zoom. Those specifications are only part of the camera picture: reviewers’ concerns about image quality are discussed below.

Where the Pixel still falls short
It remains a substantial foldable
WIRED measured the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at 239 g and 10.1 mm thick when folded. In the same review, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 measured 201 g and 9.7 mm, the Z Fold 8 Ultra 215 g and 8.9 mm, and the Honor Magic V6 219 g and 8.75 mm. These are measurements reported by WIRED, not a universal comparison across all testing conditions, but they illustrate why the Pixel’s modest year-over-year slimming may not be enough for buyers who prioritize a lighter pocket carry. Camera improvements do not settle the camera question
Android Central’s reviewer found the main camera adequate but criticized its dynamic range and fine detail. In that reviewer’s comparison of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 8, Motorola Razr Fold and Honor Magic V6, the Pixel’s ultrawide ranked third. That is one reviewer’s comparative judgment, not a standardized lab ranking. WIRED also notes that the Fold lacks some camera hardware and software features found on the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL. If camera performance is your main reason to spend at this price, compare actual image samples and the specific camera features you use rather than relying on the 48MP figure or zoom label alone. The crease and battery deserve attention
WIRED describes the inner-display crease as visible and calls the update iterative. Its battery observations under demanding use temper Google’s more-than-24-hour claim for people who push the phone hard. If you spend long stretches reading across the fold, watching video, gaming or using the camera, consider how much those concerns matter in daily use—not just the headline display and battery claims. There is no single best foldable for every buyer. Compare the Pixel against the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, Motorola Razr Fold and Honor Magic V6 on the factors that affect your own use. Honor’s model is not sold in the US, according to WIRED, so local availability can decide the comparison before specifications do. WIRED’s review Android Central’s review
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Price and availability: Compare current local prices, promotions and stock; launch pricing is not a promise of today’s price.
- Carry comfort: Check folded weight and thickness in person if possible. The Pixel remains heavier and thicker than several models WIRED measured.
- Screen shape and viewing: Consider cover-screen usability, the inner display’s aspect ratio, crease visibility and brightness. A large unfolded screen does not necessarily make widescreen video fill the panel.
- Cameras: Look beyond megapixels and maximum zoom. Compare main and ultrawide detail, dynamic range, telephoto capability and camera software features that matter to you.
- Battery and charging: Weigh capacity and real-use endurance alongside wired and wireless charging speeds; a faster charging specification does not by itself mean longer battery life.
- Durability and software: Compare protection ratings, hinge design, multitasking tools, software features and update/support policies. Treat manufacturer durability tests as qualified claims, not a damage-proof guarantee.
- Regional support: Confirm that the model and the features you want are actually available where you live.
Is it worth upgrading?
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is a more compelling choice for someone moving from an older phone who wants Google’s foldable software experience, a roomy inner screen and the new charging and durability features. It is a harder sell as an upgrade from a recent foldable: the changes are incremental, the body is still relatively bulky, and the review concerns around the crease, camera output and heavy-use battery life remain relevant.
Google’s announced US starting price was $1,899, up $100 from the Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s $1,799 starting price. WIRED reported the same $1,899 launch/review price.
