Official LineageOS support for the Pixel 10 family is not confirmed by the available LineageOS results. Do not flash a generic Pixel guide or assume that a Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, or Pixel 10 Pro Fold is supported. Verify the exact model in LineageOS’s current device list and open that model’s own installation guide before changing anything.
If a matching guide exists, Google Apps remain optional and must be installed at the point the guide specifies, normally immediately after LineageOS and before the first boot. Returning to Google’s firmware with a factory image erases the phone, and Google warns that the May 2026 update raises the anti-rollback level on every Pixel 10 model in the family.
Is Pixel 10 officially supported by LineageOS?
The evidence available for this FAQ does not establish official LineageOS support for any Pixel 10 model. That includes the standard Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. An absent result in a search is not proof that a device is unsupported, but it is enough reason to stop before downloading or flashing anything.
LineageOS support is model-specific. A guide for an older Pixel, a different generation, or a device with a similar name cannot substitute for a guide that identifies your exact Pixel 10 variant. What must be confirmed
- The exact commercial model and regional variant appear in the current official LineageOS device list.
- An official installation page names that same model, not merely the Pixel family.
- The guide covers the Android and LineageOS version you intend to install.
- The guide supplies the required recovery, firmware, and verification steps for that model.
Until all four checks pass, treat the phone as unsupported for an official installation. An unofficial build may exist elsewhere, but its existence does not provide LineageOS support, a supported update path, or a reliable way back to stock.
How to verify support before you touch the bootloader
- Record the exact model. Use the phone’s model information and the identifier shown by the manufacturer’s settings or bootloader screen. Do not rely only on the retail name.
- Open LineageOS’s current device list. Search for the exact identifier and variant. Check the page itself rather than relying on a forum post, search snippet, or video.
- Open the linked installation guide. Confirm that it is an official device guide and read its prerequisites, required firmware, recovery image, and installation sequence from start to finish.
- Check the guide’s supported release. LineageOS packages, recovery builds, and Google Apps packages are tied to particular LineageOS versions and device architectures.
- Stop if anything conflicts. A missing guide, a different model identifier, or an instruction that does not match your software state is a reason to wait, not to improvise.
General LineageOS documentation explains concepts, but it does not replace the exact device guide. If an official Pixel 10 guide is published later, use the current version of that guide; older instructions can become unsafe when firmware, partitions, or anti-rollback requirements change.
What “support” would mean if a Pixel 10 guide appears
An official guide would establish that LineageOS has a defined build and installation procedure for the named model. It would not mean every Pixel 10 configuration is interchangeable. The guide remains the authority for compatible firmware, recovery, update method, and any required data-wipe step.

The device can boot and run LineageOS without Google’s proprietary applications, while features that depend on Google components may require a separately packaged add-on and may still have project-specific limitations.

LineageOS updates on Pixel 10
No Pixel 10-specific LineageOS update channel is confirmed here because no official Pixel 10 installation page was established. Do not assume that a Pixel 10 will receive LineageOS over-the-air updates merely because another Pixel model does.
If an official guide becomes available, use its stated update method and release compatibility. In particular, check whether the guide requires a particular stock-firmware level before installing or updating LineageOS. Updating the operating system and updating the underlying device firmware are related but separate tasks; replacing one without the other can leave a phone unable to boot.
Questions to answer before accepting an update
- Does the update name your exact Pixel 10 model?
- Does it require a minimum or specific Android firmware version?
- Does it use the same recovery and partition procedure as the installed build?
- Does the guide warn about data loss, slot selection, or bootloader state?
- Is the update newer than the firmware’s anti-rollback level?
Never use an older Android 16 image as a casual downgrade path on a Pixel 10. Google’s factory-image page, updated October 8, 2026, warns that the May 2026 update increments the bootloader anti-rollback version for Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. After that update, older Android 16 builds will not flash and boot.

Are Google Apps required?
No. LineageOS can boot and run without Google Apps. The packages contain proprietary Google-branded applications and services such as the Play Store, Gmail, and Maps. LineageOS says it cannot bundle them because of licensing restrictions, and it does not support the independently produced packages.

Without Google Apps, the phone can still run the LineageOS operating system and applications that do not depend on Google components. Apps that expect Google Play services may have missing functionality or may not run; the exact result depends on the app and the configuration.
Choosing a package
Use only the package named or recommended by the exact device guide. LineageOS documentation lists MindTheGapps packages by LineageOS version and processor architecture, but a package suitable for one release or architecture is not automatically suitable for another. No Pixel 10-specific Google Apps package is confirmed by the evidence used for this article.
Match all of the following:
- The LineageOS release installed on the phone.
- The architecture specified by the device guide.
- The package version recommended for that release.
- The installation point required by the recovery and device instructions.
When to install Google Apps
Timing is critical. If the exact Pixel 10 guide recommends Google Apps, install the package immediately after installing LineageOS and before the first boot into LineageOS.
- Follow the device guide to install LineageOS.
- Remain in the guide’s recovery environment rather than booting the new system.
- Install the precisely matched Google Apps package.
- Complete the guide’s reboot or first-boot step.
If LineageOS has already booted, the LineageOS wiki says a factory reset is required before installing Google Apps. Install the package after that reset, before booting the system again. Skipping this sequence can produce crashes and inconsistent app behavior because the package was not integrated at first initialization.

Google Apps versus no Google Apps

Returning a Pixel 10 to stock firmware
Google provides factory images to restore Pixel devices to their original factory firmware. This is the clearest documented route when a custom operating system must be removed, but it is destructive: installing a factory image erases all data on the phone.
Prepare before restoration
- Back up photos, messages, authenticator data, files, and any app data that cannot be downloaded again.
- Confirm the factory image is for the exact Pixel model and the intended software state.
- Read Google’s current instructions for the image, bootloader, slots, and reboot sequence.
- Plan for a complete setup after the wipe; a factory-image restore is not an in-place repair.
Google also warns that an unlocked bootloader makes the device less secure. After the factory-image process is complete and the phone is confirmed to boot the restored system, Google instructs users to relock the bootloader. Relocking at the wrong point can prevent a device from booting, so follow the current model-specific sequence rather than issuing an improvised command.

The easier OTA option is not automatically available in every custom-ROM situation. Check the current Google instructions for the exact device and state before choosing it.

Anti-rollback is a bootloader safeguard that prevents installation of firmware below a recorded security level. Google’s May 2026 warning applies specifically to Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold: once the relevant update raises the anti-rollback version, older Android 16 builds cannot be flashed and booted.

This affects more than a routine stock downgrade. A custom-ROM installation, a return to factory firmware, or a troubleshooting attempt may depend on the firmware level already recorded by the bootloader. Before cross-flashing or downgrading, identify the current build and anti-rollback state and compare them with Google’s current instructions. Do not select an older image simply because its filename appears compatible.
The inactive-slot hazard
Pixel devices use two boot slots. Google’s factory-image guidance describes a hazard in which one slot may not contain a bootable image after a flashing operation. Its instructions recommend ensuring that both slots have a bootable image by following the stated procedure. This is a recovery task, not a license to experiment with slot commands from an unrelated guide.
Common failure cases and the safe response
No official Pixel 10 guide can be found
Do not proceed with a generic Pixel guide. Recheck the official device list and the exact model identifier later. Until a matching guide exists, there is no verified official installation path to follow.

Check whether the package matched the LineageOS version and architecture. If the system was booted before Google Apps were installed, the documented remedy is a factory reset followed by installation of the correct package before the next boot.
The factory image refuses to flash
Stop repeated attempts. Verify the model, image build, current bootloader state, and anti-rollback level. On Pixel 10 devices updated with the May 2026 bootloader change, an older Android 16 build is expected to be blocked.
The restored phone will not boot after slot changes
Use Google’s current factory-image procedure to restore a bootable image to both slots. Avoid combining slot instructions from different releases or devices.
Pre-flash and return-to-stock checklist
- Exact Pixel 10 model identifier recorded.
- Current official LineageOS device list checked.
- Exact installation guide opened and read completely.
- Required stock firmware, recovery, and LineageOS versions matched.
