For normal use, press the receiver’s STANDBY/ON button once, either on the front panel or on the remote if your model has one. This puts the receiver in standby; it does not disconnect it from mains power. Button placement and special zone controls vary, so use the instructions for your exact model if the control is missing or the receiver does not respond.
Turn off a Pioneer receiver during normal use
- Find the STANDBY/ON control on the receiver or its remote.

If your remote has no matching button, use the receiver’s front-panel control. Exact placement differs by model.

Standby is not the same as unplugging
Standby turns the receiver off for ordinary use while leaving it connected to power. Pioneer’s VSX-01TXH documentation treats switching the receiver off and disconnecting its power cord as separate actions. If you need to cut mains power completely, follow the safety guidance in your model’s manual before disconnecting the cord. Pioneer VSX-01TXH operating instructions
Special procedures for certain Pioneer models
VSX-1130: turn off all zones
If you want to place every zone in standby on the VSX-1130, press ALL ZONE STBY, then press u STANDBY/ON. Pioneer says this switches the receiver to standby and turns off all zones. This sequence is specific to the VSX-1130; do not assume another model uses the same procedure. Pioneer VSX-1130 operating instructions

VSX-60: power will not turn off
For the VSX-60 only, Pioneer’s troubleshooting instructions first direct you to press the front-panel u STANDBY/ON to turn the power off and back on. If that does not work, the manual describes holding the same control for over 10 seconds. Pioneer warns that this fallback may clear the receiver’s settings. Find the right manual if the controls differ
Check the model label on the receiver and search using the complete model number. Pioneer’s US parts catalog lists manuals and product information by model. Consult the matching manual if you cannot find STANDBY/ON, your remote differs from the illustrations, or the receiver behaves unexpectedly. Pioneer US parts catalog

The guidance here covers documented Pioneer VSX models, not every Pioneer receiver or in-dash product. Do not try an unusual button-hold sequence or buy a replacement control based only on the brand name; confirm that it matches your exact model.
