To pin a website from Microsoft Edge in Windows 11, open it in Edge and choose Settings and more (…) > More tools > Apps > Install this site as an app. Then open edge://apps, select Details on the installed site, and choose Pin to taskbar or Pin to Start. If you only need a Start-menu pin, Edge also offers a direct route through More tools > Pin to Start.

If Edge asks, confirm the app name, then install the site.

In Edge’s address bar, enter
edge://appsand press Enter. -
Find the website’s app card and select Details.

Select Pin to taskbar, Pin to Start, or both.
Microsoft lists the edge://apps page as the place to manage installed Edge apps. Its controls also let you create a desktop shortcut or uninstall an app. Microsoft’s Edge app instructions cover these options.

How to add a website directly to Start
To create a Start-menu pin without first visiting the installed-app management page, open the site in Edge and select Settings and more (…) > More tools > Pin to Start. This is Microsoft’s documented direct Start route; it does not provide the taskbar choice in that menu. Microsoft’s Windows Start menu guidance describes the steps.
What happens when you install a website as an app?
An Edge-installed site opens in a dedicated window, rather than as another tab in a regular browser window. This can make a frequently used site easier to access and keep separate, but a site installed this way does not have the same capabilities as a progressive web app (PWA). Some websites are PWAs and may show a separate install prompt; not every website is a PWA or offers the same app features. Microsoft explains the distinction between sites as apps and PWAs.

Where to find “Pin to taskbar” in Edge
For a site installed from Edge, open edge://apps, select Details on its app card, and look for Pin to taskbar. Microsoft also documents a Windows option for an app that is already open: right-click its taskbar icon and select Pin to taskbar.
