The latest official Phantom Blade Zero preorder material confirms that Soul will cross blades with The Hunt, a former comrade, while Blood-Steel Form is a Deluxe Edition outfit/appearance. It does not yet establish the encounter’s mechanics, difficulty, arena, or even whether the scene should formally be called a boss fight. The game is currently listed for PS5 with an October 29, 2026 release date.
What the reveal confirms about The Hunt
PlayStation describes The Hunt as one of Soul’s former comrades. In its August 11, 2026 announcement, the PlayStation Blog says: “Battling enemies atop a speeding wagon and crossing blades with former comrades like The Hunt are just the opening moments of Soul’s journey.” The full announcement presents the clash as part of the preorder trailer and upcoming gameplay coverage.

That wording establishes a story encounter and a fight scene, but it does not identify the scene as a boss battle in a technical gameplay sense. No official listing located for this reveal gives The Hunt’s move set, arena, health phases, difficulty, rewards, or outcome. Calling it “The Hunt boss fight” is therefore a useful reader shorthand, not a confirmed description of its structure.

- Whether The Hunt is a mandatory boss, an optional encounter, or a story duel.
- How many phases or patterns the fight has.
- Where the clash takes place and how the arena affects combat.
- Whether the encounter ends in a victory, interruption, or another story outcome.
Those details should not be inferred from the trailer’s brief framing. A longer gameplay presentation or the released game may answer them.

Blood-Steel Form is a Deluxe Edition appearance
Blood-Steel Form is listed as an in-game outfit/appearance in the Digital Deluxe Edition. The official PlayStation game page and publisher site identify it as part of the digital package alongside Wulin Legend, a digital artbook, and a digital soundtrack. The name alone does not establish the outfit’s colors, armor construction, effects, or whether it changes Soul’s animations or statistics.
Unless you have inspected the official footage or images directly, the safest description is simply “Blood-Steel Form appearance.” It is cosmetic content identified by the edition listing, not a separately documented weapon, combat stance, or gameplay system. The available official text also does not establish a standalone physical product for the outfit.

Preorder bonuses and progression availability
The publisher and PlayStation materials list Treasure Basin and Legacy as preorder early-unlock bonuses. PlayStation explicitly says both items can also be obtained through in-game progression. They should therefore not be described as permanently exclusive preorder content: preordering changes when they become available, while the official wording indicates that playing the game can unlock them later.
Release date and platform status
S-GAME’s official site lists October 29, 2026 as the release date. The US PlayStation Store concept page lists the game for PS5. These are pre-release listings as of October 13, 2026; storefront dates, editions, prices, and regional availability can be updated before launch.

How to interpret the “reveal”
The material answers two narrow questions. First, Soul’s journey includes a blade clash with a former comrade named The Hunt. Second, Blood-Steel Form is one of the digital Deluxe Edition’s listed appearances. It does not provide a complete boss guide or a design specification for the outfit.

- Use “boss fight” only as a qualified shorthand until mechanics and encounter structure are officially documented.

- Verify the current regional store page for price, edition availability, and release details before ordering.
What to watch for in future coverage
A definitive breakdown will require official or directly observed gameplay showing The Hunt’s attack patterns, encounter rules, and conclusion. Likewise, reliable visual reporting on Blood-Steel Form should describe only details visible in official footage or images, rather than deriving design claims from the name. Until that evidence appears, the preorder reveal is best understood as a story and edition-content announcement, not a full mechanics reveal.
