Choose by platform before comparing features. The PDP Riffmaster is the simpler choice when you want the officially listed Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4 controller for the matching console version. The CRKD Gibson Les Paul multi-platform edition is more flexible across PC, handhelds, Switch, Android and older PlayStation hardware, but Fortnite Festival on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles uses CRKD’s KEYJAM Mode. CRKD’s Xbox-specific guitar controllers currently do not support KEYJAM, so that edition is not an interchangeable substitute for the multi-platform model.
There is no evidence-based universal winner. Your console, the exact CRKD edition, and whether you prefer standard or upgraded fret-and-strum hardware matter more than the logos on the box.
Quick decision: which controller fits your setup?
| Your situation | Better starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You want the least complicated Fortnite Festival setup on a supported console | PDP Riffmaster platform-matched version | PDP/Turtle Beach lists Riffmaster as compatible with Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4. You still need the version made for your console. |
| You play on PC, a PC handheld, Switch or Android as well as consoles | CRKD Gibson Les Paul multi-platform edition | CRKD lists those devices and adds console Festival support through KEYJAM Mode 9. |
| You own an Xbox One or Xbox Series console and are considering CRKD | Check the label carefully; do not assume the Xbox-specific edition works | CRKD says its Xbox-specific Guitar Controllers currently do not support KEYJAM. The multi-platform edition is the CRKD model whose compatibility description includes KEYJAM for Xbox. |
| You care most about mechanical fret switches, adjustable strum sensitivity and haptic feedback | CRKD Gibson Les Paul Pro | Those are CRKD’s stated Pro features. They are design specifications, not independent proof of superior durability or scores. |
| You want a conventional button-and-click experience at a lower listed manufacturer price | CRKD Gibson Les Paul Encore | The Encore uses standard fret buttons and a mechanical click strum bar; manufacturer listings observed at that time were lower than Pro listings. |
Prices, stock and software behavior can change. Treat the table as a selection framework, then verify the exact product page and current game instructions before ordering.

PDP Riffmaster: a platform-matched controller
PDP/Turtle Beach describes the Riffmaster as “Compatible with Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4.” That wording establishes the intended games, not universal cross-console compatibility. Riffmaster is sold in platform-specific versions, so match the package and product listing to the console on which you will play. Do not buy one version on the assumption that its wireless receiver or pairing method will work on every PlayStation, Xbox or other device.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The practical advantage is predictability: once the correct platform version is selected, you are using a controller whose advertised purpose includes Fortnite Festival rather than relying on a community mapping layer. The trade-off is that you give up the CRKD multi-platform model’s broader device list.
CRKD Gibson Les Paul multi-platform edition
CRKD’s multi-platform Les Paul pages list support for PC, PC handhelds, Nintendo Switch, Android devices and PlayStation 3 Legacy Mode. For Fortnite Festival on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, CRKD describes KEYJAM Mode 9 as the compatibility method. In other words, Festival support is part of a mode-and-configuration workflow rather than the same native path advertised for the Riffmaster.
“Multi-platform” does not mean every feature works identically on every device. Read the current compatibility chart for the exact edition, because CRKD sells more than one Les Paul configuration and the console behavior is not interchangeable.
CRKD’s Xbox-specific edition
CRKD separately lists Xbox-specific Guitar Controllers and states that they currently do not support KEYJAM. That is the most important caveat in this comparison. If Fortnite Festival is your reason for buying a CRKD controller for Xbox, do not infer compatibility from the Les Paul name alone. Confirm that the product is the multi-platform edition covered by the KEYJAM description, not the Xbox-specific SKU.
How Fortnite Festival support differs
Riffmaster’s advertised path
With a Riffmaster, the relevant product requirement is straightforward: select the version intended for your console, connect it using the instructions supplied with that SKU, and use Fortnite Festival’s controller support. PDP’s product description also lists Rock Band 4 compatibility, which makes the Riffmaster a natural choice for players who want those two named games without evaluating a separate mapping mode.
The exact pairing and in-game menu labels can vary by platform and software update. Use the current PDP/Turtle Beach instructions for your edition rather than applying a setup sequence from a different console version.

CRKD’s KEYJAM path
On the CRKD multi-platform model, KEYJAM Mode 9 is the bridge to Fortnite Festival on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The mode is part of the product’s documented compatibility story, so selecting the correct edition and entering the correct mode matters. KEYJAM is not a blanket promise that every CRKD guitar controller works on every console.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Those details can change, and no universal sequence is established that is safe to repeat across all Les Paul versions.
A safe setup checklist
- Identify the exact hardware. Record whether you have a Riffmaster platform version, a CRKD multi-platform Les Paul, a Pro or Encore, or an Xbox-specific CRKD model.
- Confirm the target platform. Check that the model’s compatibility list includes your console, PC, handheld, Switch or Android device. For PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series Festival play on CRKD, verify that the listing specifically mentions KEYJAM.
- Use the current manufacturer instructions. Follow the pairing, mode-selection and any firmware directions for that exact SKU. Do not substitute instructions for a similarly named edition.
- Connect before launching the song. After the console or device recognizes the guitar, open Fortnite Festival and test a menu input before starting a track.
- Test every control. Check the fret buttons, strum bar, tilt or other required inputs in a low-stakes song. If only some inputs work, recheck the selected mode rather than assuming the guitar is defective.
- Keep the product page and receipt. Compatibility and software behavior can change; the exact model designation is also what support will need if troubleshooting is required.
Control feel: Pro, Encore and Riffmaster are different propositions
CRKD Les Paul Pro
CRKD says the Pro uses mechanical fret switches, a Hall Effect strum bar, adjustable strum sensitivity and haptic feedback. Mechanical switches can appeal to players who want a more defined button actuation, while adjustable sensitivity lets the owner tune how the strum bar responds. Hall Effect sensing is a component choice; it should not be presented as an independently verified guarantee of longer life, higher accuracy or better leaderboard performance.
Haptic feedback is another preference variable. Some players like physical confirmation from the instrument; others prefer a quieter or less busy feel. CRKD identifies the feature, but no comparison with the Riffmaster in noise, latency or comfort is established.
CRKD Les Paul Encore
The Encore uses standard fret buttons and a mechanical click strum bar. That is a more conventional specification than the Pro’s mechanical fret switches and Hall Effect bar. It may suit someone who wants a familiar button-and-click instrument without paying for the Pro’s additional hardware features, but no independent durability or response test is provided.
Riffmaster’s physical design
The Riffmaster specification emphasizes practical console use: a 30-foot low-latency wireless connection, a built-in rechargeable battery rated for up to 36 hours per charge, left- and right-handed design, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a collapsible body. The 36-hour figure is a manufacturer rating, not a measurement from an independent test, and real runtime depends on use and conditions.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
PDP/Turtle Beach also lists a Riffmaster replacement pickguard accessory. Existing owners should confirm that the accessory matches their exact Riffmaster version before purchasing; it is not a reason to choose a controller whose platform compatibility is wrong.
What “better feel” actually means
Independent review coverage frames the choice partly as a Guitar Hero-style versus Rock Band-style preference. That is a reviewer’s subjective characterization, not a controlled comparison or a universal rule. Finger strength, preferred button spacing, strum technique, haptic preference and tolerance for click noise can all change the answer. If you cannot try both, treat the Pro’s switch and Hall Effect specifications as feature differences rather than proof that it will produce higher scores.
Games beyond Fortnite Festival
Rock Band 4
Rock Band 4 is explicitly named on the Riffmaster product page. That gives the Riffmaster a clear advertised role for players whose library centers on that game. CRKD’s Les Paul family is also described as intended for classic Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, but compatibility still depends on the exact edition and platform.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Guitar Hero, YARG and Clone Hero
CRKD lists classic Guitar Hero games, YARG and Clone Hero among the Les Paul family’s intended uses. These titles often involve platform-specific adapters, legacy modes or community configuration, so the product-family statement should not be read as a promise that every title works with identical plug-and-play behavior. Check the game’s current controller requirements and the CRKD compatibility chart for your device.
PC and handheld use
The multi-platform Les Paul is the stronger fit when one guitar must travel between a desktop PC, a PC handheld, Switch and Android. PDP’s published information identifies Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4 compatibility, but not a single Riffmaster SKU that spans all of those device categories. Choose the broader CRKD device only if you are prepared to follow its mode instructions when moving between platforms.
PlayStation 3 Legacy Mode
CRKD specifically lists PlayStation 3 Legacy Mode for the multi-platform edition. That is a distinct compatibility label, not a statement that every current PlayStation game or every CRKD SKU supports PS3. If legacy play is important, verify that the listing says “Legacy Mode” for the model you are buying.

Price and availability: compare exact editions on the same day
CRKD manufacturer pages observed on October 13, 2026 listed some Encore editions at $114.99 and some Pro editions at $124.99. Those are page prices observed at that time, not guaranteed current prices, sale commitments or proof that every color and platform variant costs the same. The pages may show different editions, and stock can change.
No current like-for-like Riffmaster price was published. Historical prices from independent reviews should not be substituted for a current market comparison. Before buying, compare the exact Riffmaster platform version with the exact CRKD edition, include shipping and tax for your region, and check whether the listing is new, refurbished or a bundle.
- Match the product name to your platform, not merely to “Les Paul” or “Riffmaster.”
- Check whether the price is for Pro or Encore; their control hardware differs.
- Confirm that a multi-platform CRKD listing is not the Xbox-specific model if you need KEYJAM.
- Read the return policy in case the controller’s feel or game behavior does not suit you.
Which one should you buy in common scenarios?
You play Fortnite Festival mainly on PlayStation
Start with the Riffmaster version intended for your PlayStation if you want the clearest advertised Festival path and also play Rock Band 4. Choose the CRKD multi-platform Les Paul instead when PC, Switch, Android or legacy PlayStation use is important enough to justify KEYJAM setup. Between CRKD versions, Pro versus Encore is a feel-and-feature decision, not a different compatibility promise in the information supplied.
You play mainly on Xbox
Verify the exact CRKD label before paying. The multi-platform Les Paul is the CRKD edition whose compatibility description includes KEYJAM for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S; CRKD says Xbox-specific Guitar Controllers currently do not support KEYJAM. If you want a conventional, officially described Festival controller with the least mode ambiguity, compare the Xbox-matched Riffmaster version first.
You switch between PC and consoles
The multi-platform Les Paul has the broader stated device coverage. It is the more logical single-guitar option if you accept that console Festival play uses KEYJAM and that setup may differ by platform. A platform-matched Riffmaster can still be preferable if your priority is one console and the advertised Fortnite Festival/Rock Band 4 path rather than cross-device flexibility.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYou play competitive charts and care about input characteristics
Look first at the CRKD Pro’s mechanical fret switches, adjustable Hall Effect strum sensitivity and haptics if those controls match your technique. Do not treat the component list as a benchmark. No independent comparative latency, accuracy or durability test establishes that one controller has lower latency, lasts longer or scores better than the other, so personal feel and return options remain important.

- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
You want the simplest conventional instrument
The Riffmaster’s platform-specific design minimizes SKU ambiguity, while the Encore offers CRKD’s standard fret buttons and mechanical click strum bar at the lower observed manufacturer price. Decide whether cross-platform use is worth the additional KEYJAM considerations before choosing the Encore solely on price.
Troubleshooting before you return the guitar
The console does not recognize the controller
- Recheck the model name and platform version on the box and receipt.
- If it is CRKD, verify whether you bought the multi-platform or Xbox-specific edition and whether your game requires KEYJAM.
- Repeat the current manufacturer pairing procedure for that exact SKU; do not use instructions for another Les Paul variant.
- Disconnect other guitar controllers and test a direct, uncomplicated connection before changing several settings at once.
Some notes or buttons do not register in Fortnite Festival
- Confirm that the guitar is in the mode required for your platform, especially KEYJAM on the CRKD multi-platform model.
- Test the fret buttons and strum bar in a menu or another supported game to separate a mode problem from a hardware problem.
- Check the game’s current controller settings and restart the game after changing the instrument connection.
The CRKD Xbox model was bought for Festival
Do not assume a firmware change will add KEYJAM support. CRKD currently states that Xbox-specific Guitar Controllers do not support KEYJAM. Contact the seller about an exchange for the compatible multi-platform edition or consider the platform-matched Riffmaster instead.
Battery life is shorter than expected
The Riffmaster’s “up to 36 hours per charge” is a manufacturer rating, so runtime can vary with use. Charge fully, check wireless conditions and avoid treating the headline figure as a guaranteed duration. No comparable CRKD battery rating is published.

What reviews can—and cannot—settle
TechRadar’s review presents the Les Paul choice partly through Guitar Hero-versus-Rock Band-style instrument preferences. That is useful context for understanding why two players may disagree, but it is a reviewer’s judgment rather than a controlled head-to-head test. A Pure Xbox review provides hands-on context for the Xbox Riffmaster, while its historical price observations are not current offers.
Neither review changes the central buying rule: compatibility belongs to the exact product and platform, and feature claims belong to the manufacturer unless independently measured. No direct comparative hands-on test establishes that one controller has lower latency, lasts longer or scores better than the other.
Final recommendation
Buy the platform-matched PDP Riffmaster when your priority is a straightforward Fortnite Festival and Rock Band 4 controller for one supported console. Buy the CRKD Gibson Les Paul multi-platform edition when device breadth—PC, handhelds, Switch, Android or PlayStation 3 Legacy Mode—matters more and you are comfortable using KEYJAM for console Festival play. Select Pro for its mechanical fret switches, adjustable Hall Effect strum sensitivity and haptics; select Encore for standard fret buttons and a mechanical click strum bar. For Xbox, avoid assuming that the Xbox-specific CRKD edition is Festival-ready: CRKD currently says it does not support KEYJAM.
