pCloud Lifetime storage makes the most sense if you want a large personal cloud library, prefer paying once to paying annually, and are comfortable with the plan’s defined term and traffic limits. I can’t claim a personal purchase or hands-on testing here: no purchase date, price, tier, or actual use is established. The decision therefore comes down to what pCloud’s published plans include, what “Lifetime” legally means, and whether you will keep another copy of important files.

What “Lifetime” means in pCloud’s terms

pCloud defines a Lifetime payment as “One-time payment for 99 years or the lifetime of the account holder, whichever is shorter.” That is a one-time billing arrangement, not a guarantee that the service will last forever. pCloud’s billing explanation is the clearest statement of the term.

pCloud’s published account policy also says the 12-month inactivity deletion rule applies to free Basic accounts, not paid or Lifetime members. That distinction does not promise protection from every possible suspension, termination, service change, or account-access problem. Check pCloud’s inactivity policy before relying on it for long-term access.

Which pCloud Lifetime tier fits?

pCloud lists three individual Lifetime capacities: 500 GB, 2 TB, and 10 TB. Capacity is only part of the comparison: monthly shared-link traffic and upload traffic within 30 days also have stated limits.

Tier Storage Shared-link traffic per month Upload traffic within 30 days
Premium 500 GB 1,000 GB Up to 1 TB
Premium Plus 2 TB 4 TB Up to 4 TB
Ultra 10 TB 20 TB Up to 4 TB

These allowances are described in pCloud’s traffic-sharing help article. The 10 TB tier offers more stored capacity and shared-link traffic than the 2 TB tier, but the cited help page gives both the same maximum upload traffic within 30 days. That can matter if you expect to upload a large archive quickly.

Choose by use, not headline capacity

  • 500 GB: the lowest listed capacity; compare its checkout price with the amount of storage you will actually use.
  • 2 TB: a middle option for a sizeable personal collection, provided its traffic allowances suit your sharing and upload habits.
  • 10 TB: for a much larger stored library or heavier link sharing; its listed upload allowance is not higher than the 2 TB tier’s.

What the plan costs—and how to assess value

Prices vary by region and promotion. A U.S.-dollar promotional pricing page returned in 2026 showed $199 for 500 GB, $399 for 2 TB, and $1,190 for 10 TB; those are a dated snapshot, not universal or permanent prices. Other localized results showed different amounts. Check the final checkout price and currency for your location on pCloud’s pricing page.

To compare a one-time payment with an annual plan, divide the Lifetime price by the comparable annual price. The result is a simple break-even estimate in years, not a guarantee of savings: the comparison is meaningful only when capacity, traffic limits, features, and availability are comparable. Promotions and regional pricing can change the result.

What pCloud advertises beyond storage

pCloud’s pricing page advertises sync, file sharing, password-protected links, shared-folder collaboration, file requests, branded links, offline access, media playback, phone-gallery and desktop backup, and recovery of files from up to 30 days ago with previous file versions. It also describes pCloud Photos, pCloud Docs, and third-party backup or transfer options. These are vendor-advertised capabilities, not evidence that a feature has been independently tested or will fit every workflow.

WD 2TB Elements Portable External Hard Drive for Windows, USB 3.2 Gen 1/USB 3.0 for PC & Mac, Plug and Play Ready - WDBU6Y0020BBK-WESN
  • High capacity in a small enclosure – The small, lightweight design offers up to 6TB* capacity, making WD Elements portable hard drives the ideal companion for consumers on the go.
  • Plug-and-play expandability
  • Vast capacities up to 6TB[1] to store your photos, videos, music, important documents and more
  • SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps)

For a purchase decision, ask which of those features you need and how much the recovery window matters. “Up to 30 days” is not the same as a permanent archive or a second independent backup.

Understand the encryption distinction

pCloud says its standard service uses TLS/SSL for channel protection and 256-bit AES encryption. Its security document describes files as protected with AES-256 during and after transfer, with TLS/SSL during transfer. These are pCloud’s published descriptions, not an independent security audit. Read pCloud’s security document for its explanation.

pCloud describes Crypto as an additional client-side encryption layer: files are encrypted on the user’s device before transfer, in a zero-knowledge arrangement. Do not treat that description as a claim that every file on the standard plan is encrypted in the same client-side, zero-knowledge way.

Keep a separate copy of important files

Cloud storage can be useful, but irreplaceable files should not depend on one account or service. CISA recommends backing up data frequently and identifies an external hard drive or a properly vetted cloud service as backup media. It advises keeping an external drive in a safe place and disconnected between backup sessions to reduce ransomware exposure. See CISA’s backup guidance.
