To get pCloud’s full 10 GB free Basic quota, start with the 2 GB you receive at registration, complete five beginner tasks worth 1 GB each, then use successful friend referrals for any remaining space. Referrals count when someone signs up through your unique link and verifies their email. You do not need to buy anything.
How to unlock the first 7 GB
pCloud’s beginner tutorial lists five account and app tasks, each worth 1 GB. Complete them from your account’s beginner tutorial or the relevant app:
- Verify your email address. Open the verification email from pCloud and follow its confirmation link.
- Upload a file. Add a file to your pCloud storage.
- Use pCloud Drive on desktop. Download the desktop application and sign in.
- Use pCloud on mobile. Download the mobile application and sign in.
- Enable Automatic Upload. Turn on this option in the pCloud mobile application.
These tasks add up to 5 GB; together with the 2 GB provided at registration, that brings the account to 7 GB. pCloud’s Referral Program help page describes both the tutorial rewards and referral storage.

After the tutorial, invite friends using the unique referral link associated with your pCloud account. pCloud says a referral succeeds when the invited person creates a free pCloud account through that link and verifies their email. Each successful referral earns 1 GB, subject to the Basic account’s 10 GB maximum. pCloud also describes the referral program as offering up to 3 GB of extra storage, so referrals are a way to reach the cap—not to raise it beyond 10 GB.

- Share your own referral link, not a generic registration link.
- The invited person must register through your link and verify their email for the invitation to count.
- Check your account’s storage total after the required steps are complete.
What the 10 GB limit means
pCloud’s current Basic plan details say registration includes 2 GB and Basic offers up to 10 GB of storage. The additional space is earned through eligible account actions and referrals; it is not automatically included at signup.
Storage is separate from transfer limits. The same plan details list 50 GB of shared-link traffic per month and upload traffic of up to twice the account’s storage space within 30 days. Those limits concern data transferred, not the amount of space stored in the account.

Free-storage referrals are not the paid affiliate program
The storage referral program rewards eligible invitations with account storage. pCloud’s separate affiliate program concerns commissions tied to paid-plan referrals; you do not need to join it or purchase a plan to pursue the free Basic quota.
