Short answer: Alderon Games requires a self-hosted Path of Titans community server to run on a dedicated machine using Windows or Linux. Its official server documentation does not publish a minimum RAM amount, processor model, core count, or CPU benchmark for that machine. The often-quoted 16 GB minimum and 32 GB recommendation apply to playing Path of Titans on a PC, not to running a dedicated server.
That distinction matters when you are choosing hardware or a rental plan. You can select self-hosting or a Game Server Provider (GSP), but neither route has a one-size-fits-all specification in Alderon’s published material. Capacity depends on the player count and configuration you intend to run, so treat hardware sizing as a monitored workload decision rather than as an official number.

Alderon’s hosting guidance gives one clear platform requirement for people who install the server themselves: a dedicated machine running Windows or Linux. “Dedicated” means the computer is assigned to the server rather than being an ordinary desktop that is also used for unrelated work. The documentation does not state that the machine must use a particular Windows edition, Linux distribution, processor family, number of cores, storage size, or memory capacity.
The live server wiki explains how to obtain and update the server files and how to configure a Windows or Linux installation. Those instructions are operational documentation, not a hardware sizing table. In the official material reviewed, there is no server-specific RAM floor, CPU minimum, or player-count benchmark that can be quoted responsibly.

Do not confuse player requirements with server requirements
Alderon’s September 22, 2025 PC support article lists 16 GB of RAM as the minimum and 32 GB as the recommendation for playing the game. It also warns that running other applications with only 16 GB can create performance problems. Those figures describe a player’s computer rendering and running the game client. They do not describe a dedicated server process and should not be presented as a hosting requirement.
| Published figure or requirement | What it applies to | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated Windows or Linux machine | Self-hosting a community server | A specific RAM size, CPU model, or guaranteed player capacity |
| 16 GB RAM minimum | PC gameplay, according to Alderon’s 2025 support article | The minimum memory for a dedicated server |
| 32 GB RAM recommended | PC gameplay, according to the same support article | A server recommendation or a capacity guarantee |

How much RAM does a Path of Titans server need?
There is no official answer in gigabytes. Alderon has not published a mapping such as “X GB for Y players,” nor has it published a controlled memory benchmark for modded or unmodded servers. Any exact number presented as an Alderon minimum would therefore be misleading.
Recommended Free Tools
For a practical sizing decision, investigate the workload you actually intend to run:
- Concurrent players: A small private group and a public server with a high slot cap create different loads.
- Configuration and mods: Maps, gameplay changes, and other server content can alter memory use.
- Database mode: The setup guide supports local or remote database arrangements, which place different work on the server machine.
- Operating-system overhead: Windows or Linux services, monitoring, backups, and security tools consume memory outside the game server.
- Other workloads: A machine that also runs web, voice, storage, or automation services needs headroom for those tasks.
Use the smallest plan only when you can monitor it and increase resources if memory pressure appears. Check available memory, swap or paging activity, process usage, and restart or crash logs during the busiest expected period. This is operational guidance, not a claim that a particular amount will support a stated number of players.

What CPU do you need to host Path of Titans?
Alderon’s public server instructions do not name a processor, clock speed, core count, or CPU benchmark. Consequently, there is no defensible official answer such as “a four-core processor” or a particular generation of desktop chip.
CPU selection should follow the same workload model as memory selection. Consider the expected concurrent population, whether the server runs mods, whether the database is local, and what else shares the machine. A provider’s advertised “vCPU” count is not automatically comparable to a physical core: ask how the allocation is measured, whether CPU time is shared, and whether throttling applies. For self-hosting, observe processor utilization and per-core behavior while reproducing peak activity. A low average can hide one saturated thread, while a high average may come from unrelated services.
Storage, network, and availability are also requirements
Although no official disk or bandwidth number is supplied, the server must have enough storage for the server files, updates, configuration, logs, and any local database you choose. Keep free space for an update and for temporary files rather than filling the volume completely.
Network quality is part of the user experience. A self-hosted machine needs a stable connection, an address reachable by the intended players, and whatever port-forwarding and firewall rules the current setup guide requires. Measure latency and packet loss from the regions where your players live. A powerful computer cannot compensate for an unreliable uplink or a blocked port.

Self-hosting versus a Game Server Provider
Alderon identifies two community-server routes: operate the server yourself or purchase service from a Game Server Provider. The right choice depends more on administration and availability than on a single hardware number.
| Decision area | Self-hosting | Game Server Provider |
|---|---|---|
| Machine responsibility | You supply and maintain the dedicated Windows or Linux computer. | The provider supplies the underlying machine as part of its plan. |
| Installation and updates | You download, update, and troubleshoot the official server files. | A control panel may simplify deployment, but confirm what is automated. |
| Network setup | You handle firewall rules, port forwarding, addressability, and local ISP constraints. | Ask which ports, protections, and public addresses are included. |
| Resource clarity | You can inspect the machine directly. | Verify the actual RAM, CPU allocation, storage, and any fair-use limits. |
| Backups and support | You design and test backups and provide your own support. | Check backup frequency, retention, restoration, support hours, and response terms. |
| Location and latency | You choose a location you can operate and connect to. | Choose a region close to the player group and confirm the location is available on the plan. |
When self-hosting is a good fit
Self-hosting suits an operator who is comfortable with command-line installation, operating-system updates, firewall configuration, authentication credentials, backups, and incident recovery. It can be economical when you already own a suitable always-on computer and have a reliable connection. The trade-off is that every outage, update, security problem, and hardware failure is yours to resolve.
When a provider is a better fit
A GSP is the managed purchase route Alderon presents for owners who do not want to run the machine themselves. Before paying, confirm the region, dedicated or shared CPU policy, guaranteed memory, storage, player-slot limits, mod support, configuration access, backups, support process, renewal price, and cancellation terms. Plans change, and a marketing label such as “unlimited” does not replace a written resource allocation.
Some providers advertise features such as a web panel, SFTP access, scheduled backups, or infrastructure in Germany. Treat those as claims of that individual vendor, not as Alderon requirements or a universal feature set. Verify the current terms directly before committing.

Self-hosting setup: the official workflow
Alderon’s setup guide uses AlderonGamesCmd to download and update the server. The command-line arguments select the Path of Titans server files, a branch, an authentication token, and an installation directory. Because argument names, supported architectures, and download procedures can change, use the current official wiki for the exact command rather than copying an old snippet.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Prepare the machine. Install a supported Windows or Linux environment, apply security updates, create a dedicated service account, and reserve sufficient disk space. Do not use the computer as an unprotected general-purpose workstation.
- Install the command-line tool. Download AlderonGamesCmd using the current official instructions for your operating system and architecture.
- Select the branch. Alderon’s guide recommends the production branch for most servers. Use another branch only when you understand its purpose and compatibility implications.
- Authenticate safely. Supply the required authentication token without publishing it in scripts, screenshots, shell history, or logs that other people can read.
- Choose the installation directory. Keep server files, configuration, logs, and database data organized so updates and backups are straightforward.
- Complete platform-specific setup. The guide includes Windows and Linux paths. Its Linux steps were tested on Ubuntu 22.04; other distributions or versions can behave differently. The guide specifically warns not to run the Linux server as root.
- Assign the server identity. Each server needs its own GUID. Do not clone an installation in a way that causes two active servers to share an identity.
- Select database placement. Configure a local or remote database according to the topology you intend to maintain, then secure credentials and network access.
- Configure networking and launch. Apply the current firewall and port-forwarding instructions, start the server, and check logs for authentication, binding, or database errors.
- Test before inviting the public. Join from a client, verify the advertised name and rules, test administration permissions, and observe CPU, memory, network, and disk behavior.
Configuration, player slots, and mods
The server configuration files expose settings for the map, player cap, password, reserved slots, chat, and gameplay options. Changes require a server restart before they take effect. Plan a maintenance window and keep a known-good copy of the configuration so a bad edit can be reversed.
The wiki shows MaxPlayers=100 as an example. That value is a cap in a configuration file, not a performance test. Raising it does not prove that your machine, database, network, or provider plan can sustain 100 simultaneous players. Set a conservative cap, monitor real usage, and increase it only after the complete workload has been observed.
Community servers can use map and gameplay mods, assign administrators, and publish local rules. Every mod adds compatibility and update work. Document which files and versions are installed, test updates on a maintenance copy when possible, and tell players what happens if a mod becomes incompatible.

Troubleshooting common hosting problems
The server starts but players cannot connect
- Confirm the process is listening on the expected address and port.
- Check the host firewall, router port forwarding, and any provider network policy.
- Test from a network outside the host’s local LAN; a local test can succeed even when public access is blocked.
- Verify that the server appears in the expected region or listing and that the configured password is correct.
Players report lag or intermittent disconnects
- Measure packet loss and latency from affected regions rather than relying only on the host’s local ping.
- Check whether the uplink is saturated by backups, updates, streaming, or other services.
- Review CPU per-core utilization, memory pressure, disk activity, and server logs during the incident.
- Reduce the player cap or disable a recently added mod as a diagnostic step, then change one variable at a time.
An update or configuration change breaks startup
- Restore the last known-good configuration and confirm that the server launches without mods or recent edits.
- Check the current wiki for changed command arguments, branches, architectures, or prerequisites.
- Verify the authentication token, installation path, file permissions, and database connection.
- On Linux, ensure the service is not being run as root and that the service account can read and write required directories.
Can you host Path of Titans on your gaming PC?
Not as an ordinary shared use case under Alderon’s stated self-hosting requirement. The official wording calls for a dedicated Windows or Linux machine. A computer used interactively for gaming, streaming, and other applications is not the same arrangement as a machine reserved for the server. If you want to experiment privately, understand that doing so may fall outside the documented dedicated-machine setup and that the player-PC RAM figures do not validate the server workload.

What Alderon’s 2026 development note means
In a May 2026 developer blog, Alderon described the then-current flow as requiring dedicated server software and port forwarding. The team discussed making self-hosting more accessible through work on player-device hosting and NAT punch-through, with an eventual goal of starting a single-player game and inviting friends. The post also noted that low-end devices might not reliably host.
That was a dated development update, not a permanent statement about what is available now. Check Alderon’s latest release notes and hosting documentation before assuming player-device hosting or NAT punch-through has shipped, or that it replaces the dedicated-machine workflow.
A practical decision checklist
- Decide the intended peak concurrent player count and whether the server is private or public.
- List required maps, gameplay mods, administrators, reserved slots, passwords, and database placement.
- For self-hosting, reserve a dedicated Windows or Linux machine and a stable, reachable network connection.
- For a GSP, obtain written CPU, RAM, storage, slot, region, backup, support, renewal, and cancellation details.
- Use the production branch unless a documented reason requires another branch.
- Create a unique GUID and protect authentication tokens and database credentials.
- Test firewall and port-forwarding rules from an external network.
- Record baseline CPU, memory, disk, latency, and packet-loss measurements before opening the server.
- Set a conservative
MaxPlayersvalue; treat the wiki’s 100-player example only as a configuration example. - Schedule updates, backups, restarts, and a rollback procedure.
Bottom line on Path of Titans server requirements
The only explicit self-hosting platform requirement Alderon publishes is a dedicated Windows or Linux machine. No official server-specific RAM or CPU minimum has been provided in the cited setup material, so the game’s 16 GB gameplay minimum and 32 GB gameplay recommendation cannot be reused as server specifications. Choose between self-hosting and a GSP based on administration, network, support, and resource transparency; then size the workload by monitoring the player count and configuration you actually plan to run.
