As of October 14, 2026, Patagonia.com lets shoppers put used Worn Wear items and new Patagonia products in the same cart and complete one checkout. The change replaces the former split between Patagonia’s new-product site and its separate resale storefront, making used gear easier to consider without leaving a normal purchase.
What changed on October 14, 2026
Patagonia moved Worn Wear resale inventory onto Patagonia.com. A customer can now browse a current-season jacket, add a used Worn Wear layer or pack, and pay for both in one transaction. Previously, shoppers had to use separate websites for new products and Worn Wear inventory.
The move does not turn used inventory into a conventional permanent catalog. Worn Wear stock consists of individual items that arrive through trade-ins, so sizes, colors, styles and prices change as pieces are accepted and sold.
Is Worn Wear refurbished or simply secondhand?
Patagonia presents Worn Wear as used gear that has been processed for resale, rather than as untouched secondhand merchandise. The company says employees check each item’s eligibility, authenticity, condition, functionality and cleanliness. The Worn Wear storefront describes its products as professionally laundered, quality-inspected, authenticated, graded for condition and repaired when needed.

“Refurbished” therefore means inspected and, where necessary, repaired and cleaned; it does not mean every item has been rebuilt with all-new components or restored to factory-new condition. The condition grade remains important when comparing two otherwise similar pieces.
How to buy used and new Patagonia together
- Open Patagonia.com and search or browse the product category you need.
- Look for Worn Wear listings alongside new products, or open the Worn Wear collection and choose an available used item.
- Review the individual listing’s photos, condition grade, size, color and price. One-of-a-kind inventory can disappear after another shopper buys it.
- Add the used item and any new products to the same cart.
- Proceed through Patagonia.com checkout and verify the final order details before paying.
Current examples shown in the storefront include used men’s Nano-Air Hoody, PowSlayer Jacket, PowSlayer Pants, DAS Light Hoody and Classic Retro-X Jacket listings, along with used insulated Nano Puff-related items. The selection also includes men’s, women’s and kids’ clothing, packs and gear, plus collections such as Down Collection and Prints from the Past. These examples are not guaranteed to remain in stock.

How Patagonia processes trade-ins
Customers can submit eligible Patagonia gear for consideration and receive Patagonia gift-card credit when the item qualifies. Patagonia says staff inspect trade-ins for eligibility, authenticity, condition, functionality and cleanliness before the item enters resale inventory. Pieces may be professionally laundered, graded and repaired when needed.

The program’s FAQ says merchandise credits can be used to buy used gear on WornWear.com or new gear on Patagonia.com and in Patagonia-owned retail stores. Eligibility and credit value depend on the item; owning an older Patagonia garment does not guarantee acceptance or a particular amount.

A used listing is most compelling when its lower price, discontinued design or available size outweighs the uncertainty of one-off condition and stock. New gear is generally simpler when you need a specific size, color or quantity for a trip.
How large is the program?
Patagonia reported nearly 160,000 Worn Wear items and approximately $13 million in net sales for fiscal year 2026. The company’s fiscal-year operating description cited more than 40 associates working with the program. Patagonia’s October 14 announcement also said more than 230,000 items had been processed in the prior year.

Patagonia says it launched the Worn Wear clothing resale business in 2017. Its FAQ traces the broader program’s roots to clothing swaps that began in 2012; those are different milestones, not conflicting launch dates.

What to check before buying
- Read the condition grade: two copies of the same model can show different wear.
- Confirm measurements and fit: availability is determined by the single item in the listing, not a warehouse-wide size run.
- Inspect photos and description: look for wear details that matter for your use, especially on technical shells, insulation and packs.
- Decide how much scarcity matters: a discontinued color may be worth choosing quickly, while a current style may be easier to replace new.
- Keep credit rules in mind: trade-in credit applies only when Patagonia accepts the submitted gear as eligible.
Why the combined storefront matters
Putting Worn Wear beside new products removes a practical barrier to choosing used gear. Shoppers no longer need a second browsing session or a separate checkout to compare a repaired, inspected item with its new equivalent. The trade-off is that resale inventory remains inherently less predictable: a desirable size can sell before you return, and another identical item may not appear soon.

For buyers, the clearest distinction is not whether Worn Wear is “real” Patagonia gear—it is authenticated and covered by the Ironclad Guarantee—but whether the specific item’s grade, measurements and price fit the intended use. The same-cart experience makes that decision easier to make at the moment of purchase.
