Paper Rex’s confirmed Champions 2026 setback was a 0–2 upper-bracket quarterfinal loss to LOUD on October 7, with maps decided 13–9 on Split and 15–13 on Sunset. That result sent Paper Rex to the lower bracket; it did not, by itself, eliminate the team or establish that this was the roster’s final appearance together. The available match listings conflict on what happened next against T1, so that outcome should be treated as unconfirmed here.
How Paper Rex reached the LOUD match
Paper Rex won both of its recorded Champions group-stage series: 2–1 against Team Liquid on September 24, then 2–1 against G2 Esports on September 29. The G2 match was the group winner’s match. VLR.gg’s 2026 results record the wins and the subsequent LOUD series: VLR.gg.
What happened against LOUD?
LOUD beat Paper Rex 2–0 in the upper-bracket quarterfinal on October 7. Paper Rex lost Split 9–13 and Sunset 13–15. The second map was close, but those scores alone do not establish a tactical or statistical “collapse,” nor do they identify a specific cause such as pressure, discipline, or an individual player’s performance.

Because this was an upper-bracket quarterfinal, the loss moved Paper Rex into the lower bracket rather than immediately ending its tournament. The next match was listed as a lower-bracket series against T1.

Is Paper Rex’s T1 result confirmed?
Not consistently in the available records. A same-day Dot Esports report says T1 came back on map three and that Paper Rex’s run ended, while VLR’s match listing and Riot’s official schedule still showed the fixture as upcoming. Those records do not support presenting the T1 result or its map scores as settled fact in this account. Check a completed match record or an official result for an update before relying on that detail.
Was this Paper Rex’s final bow?
There is no established evidence here that the LOUD loss marked the end of Paper Rex’s roster. VLR’s profile snapshot lists Jinggg, invy, f0rsakeN, d4v41, and something, with alecks as coach: VLR.gg’s Paper Rex profile. A roster listing is a snapshot, not confirmation of future contracts or plans.

No retirement or roster-breakup announcement appears in the cited material. For an official update, check the organization’s news page. A tournament elimination, once confirmed, would still not prove that the players would never compete together again.
