The Panasonic NN-CF874B is a 32 L flatbed combination oven that brings together microwave, grill and convection cooking. Its spacious, turntable-free cavity and multi-function cooking make it more versatile than a basic microwave, but this is an older model: confirm the exact variant, condition, installation fit and support situation before buying. Panasonic’s published specifications describe the oven; a 2016 retailer review offers historical observations, not independent current testing.
What the NN-CF874B does
Panasonic describes the NN-CF874B as a household microwave, grill and convection oven. The manufacturer lists cooking outputs of 1000 W for microwave, 1300 W for grill and 1350 W for convection. Combination operation pairs microwave energy with grill or convection heat, so the appliance can do more than reheat and defrost. These are manufacturer specifications, not comparative test results. The Australia brochure for the NN-CF874BQPQ variant describes inverter microwave operation, sensor cooking and reheat, turbo defrost, 26 automatic programmes, three combination settings and touch controls. Unlike a turntable microwave, the NN-CF874B has a flat interior. Appliances Online Australia’s review of the NN-CF874BQPQ, published in 2016, reported that the design accommodates larger plates and rectangular dishes; the reviewer also said supplied trays allow cooking on two levels. The same review noted that food may need manual rotation during heating for more even results. These are the retailer reviewer’s observations, not results from our own testing. For a buyer, the practical question is whether your regular cookware fits the usable cavity and suits the way heat is distributed. The manufacturer gives internal dimensions of 410 × 250 × 320 mm (W × H × D); a 32 L capacity alone does not tell you whether a particular dish will fit.
Will it fit your kitchen?
Panasonic lists the oven’s external dimensions as 494 mm wide × 390 mm high × 438 mm deep, with an approximate uncrated weight of 20 kg. The cavity measures 410 × 250 × 320 mm (W × H × D). Measure the available space, account for the ventilation and installation clearances required by the applicable manual, and allow for the door to open comfortably.

The manual lists an optional trim kit, NN-TK813CSCP, and a cabinet opening of 562 mm wide × 479 mm high × 550 mm deep. The Australia brochure for the NN-CF874BQPQ names NN-TK813CS instead. These suffixes are not interchangeable evidence of compatibility: before buying a kit or altering cabinetry, match the oven’s full model suffix to its installation documentation and the kit’s own identification.

Power requirements and normal operating sounds
The operating instructions specify 230–240 V, 50 Hz, but caution that voltage requirements vary by production month, country and serial number. Check the appliance identification plate rather than relying on a generic listing. Panasonic gives a maximum power requirement of 1860 W. Its electrical table separately lists power consumption of 990 W microwave, 1330 W grill, 1380 W convection and 1860 W combination; these are input figures, not the cooking output ratings above.

Panasonic says humming and clicking during combination cooking can be normal as the oven switches between microwave and grill power. The sounds alone therefore do not establish a fault; investigate other symptoms, such as failure to heat or an error indication, rather than treating the expected switching noises as a defect.
Cleaning and day-to-day usability
The 2016 Appliances Online Australia review describes a drop-down door, fan-assisted convection, sensor cooking and reheat, touch controls, and a slider for setting time, weight or power on the NN-CF874BQPQ. These are review-era observations about that regional variant, not confirmation that every version has identical controls or included accessories.

Panasonic warns that grease on the oven roof and walls can smoke during grill, convection or combination cooking, and advises regular wiping. When inspecting a used unit, look at the interior roof and walls and consider whether you can clean those surfaces easily. The flat interior removes the turntable but does not remove the need for routine cleaning.

Is an older NN-CF874B still worth buying?
Panasonic UK’s current microwave buying guides feature newer combination models, including the NN-CF87L, and do not list the NN-CF874B among their recommended models. That makes the NN-CF874B an older model, but it does not establish a formal discontinuation date or prove whether used or remaining stock is available. The NN-CF87L is a current manufacturer-listed comparison point: Panasonic describes it as a 31 L three-in-one oven with convection, grill and microwave functions. Because current price, live availability, parts, support and warranty coverage for a used unit are not established here, assess those directly before committing. A sensible comparison with any newer oven should cover usable dish shape, cooking functions and outputs, capacity versus footprint, controls and cleaning access, installation compatibility, and the specific unit’s condition and seller terms.
