To reach four stars with the Pal Essence Condenser in Palworld 1.0, you need 48 same-species Pals to sacrifice, plus the Pal you want to keep—49 Pals total if your target is unranked. The condenser consumes those duplicates permanently, so choose your target carefully before confirming.
How many Pals does four-star condensation take?
Each rank costs more same-species Pals than the one before it. The 1.0 cost table is:

These are the costs reported by Nodecraft’s Palworld 1.0 guide, updated July 27, 2026. The 48 total counts only the sacrificed Pals; add the selected Pal you retain to get 49 for a four-star result starting from an unranked target. Older guides may show the former 116-sacrifice total, so check that a cost table is for version 1.0.

What does the Pal Essence Condenser improve?
Condensation raises the selected Pal’s rank, shown as blue stars, and improves its maximum health, attack, defense, and Partner Skill. The exact Partner Skill benefit depends on the species. The 1.0 guide also reports Work Suitability improvements at each rank, with additional available Work Suitabilities at maximum rank; condensation does not give a Pal a job it did not already have. Check the condenser’s confirmation preview for the specific changes shown for your Pal.

How to choose which Pal to keep
The selected Pal is retained; the same-species Pals fed into the condenser are permanently consumed. Their active and passive skills do not transfer to the target. They provide condensation progress only.

- Compare the target’s combat value and species-specific Partner Skill with its usefulness for the work you need it to do. There is no one best target for every player or species.

Pocketpair’s official Palworld Steam changelog lists the 1.0 release on July 9, 2026, and describes new Pal-strengthening mechanics alongside rebalanced stats and abilities and broader game changes.
