The current native PT-PC project supports 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, x86-64 Linux with glibc 2.38 or newer, and macOS 14 or newer on Apple silicon or Intel. Your graphics processor and driver must support Vulkan 1.3. The project does not publish minimum CPU, RAM, storage, or GPU-model figures, and it does not include P.T. assets: you must provide compatible game files yourself.
A microphone is optional. Keyboard or controller input can activate the voice-triggered sequence, so you do not need to buy one solely for this port.
What the P.T. PC port actually requires
These requirements describe the current native PT-PC project documentation checked on October 13, 2026, not Unreal Engine editor requirements, an older fan remake, or a PlayStation 4 emulator. PC Gamer reported the port’s release on October 8, 2026. It is a native C++/Vulkan project that reimplements the game’s logic and reads original content supplied by the player.
| Platform | Published operating-system requirement | Architecture and graphics condition |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 10 or Windows 11 | 64-bit x64 system; GPU and driver supporting Vulkan 1.3 |
| Linux | Distribution with glibc 2.38 or newer | x86-64; system Vulkan driver supporting Vulkan 1.3 |
| macOS | macOS 14 or newer | Apple silicon or Intel; compatible Vulkan 1.3-capable graphics path through the supplied MoltenVK layer |
The README does not set a minimum processor, memory capacity, disk-space figure, named GPU model, video-memory amount, frame-rate target, or resolution target. Those omissions are significant: a specific “minimum PC” cannot be stated responsibly from the published requirements. Do not substitute specifications for an unrelated engine or remake.

Windows requirements
Supported versions and architecture
Use a 64-bit installation of Windows 10 or Windows 11. A 32-bit Windows installation is outside the documented target. To check, open Settings → System → About and look at System type; it should identify an x64-based processor and 64-bit operating system.
Vulkan is the hardware gate
Your graphics processor and its installed driver must expose Vulkan 1.3. The port does not publish a particular Radeon, GeForce, or integrated-graphics model as the cutoff, so the reliable check is the Vulkan version reported by the driver rather than a model-name guess. Install the current driver offered for your GPU, then verify the reported API version with a Vulkan diagnostic utility such as vulkaninfo --summary if that utility is available on your system. A driver that exposes only an older Vulkan version does not meet the stated baseline, even if the GPU is otherwise modern.
Linux requirements
Distribution and library floor
Linux support targets x86-64 systems with glibc 2.38 or newer. The project README names Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39, current Arch, and SteamOS as examples. These examples indicate the intended software generation; they are not a promise that every derivative or older release will work.
Check the library version in a terminal with ldd --version. The first line should show glibc 2.38 or a later version. If your distribution uses an older glibc, upgrading only the game or copying a library from another distribution is not a safe fix; use a supported operating-system release instead.

Vulkan driver on Linux
Linux must provide both the required glibc level and a functioning system Vulkan driver. The port relies on that driver rather than bundling a universal GPU implementation. A Vulkan diagnostic utility can show the instance and device versions; confirm that the selected GPU reports Vulkan 1.3 before troubleshooting the game itself.
On hybrid-graphics laptops, make sure the Vulkan application is allowed to use the GPU whose driver exposes the required version. If a diagnostic lists only an older integrated adapter, correct the driver or GPU-selection configuration first. The project publishes no separate laptop, integrated-graphics, or performance tiers.
macOS requirements and the Intel caveat
Operating-system and processor support
The documented macOS floor is macOS 14. The port is intended to run on both Apple-silicon and Intel Macs, but the maintainer adds an important qualification: Intel Macs need a compatible GPU, and the Intel application had not yet been run on an Intel Mac when the documentation was checked. Treat Intel support as a stated target with unverified real-device coverage, not as proof that every Intel model works.

How Vulkan works on a Mac
macOS does not expose Vulkan as its native graphics API. PT-PC supplies MoltenVK, which translates the Vulkan renderer to Apple’s Metal graphics system. You therefore still need a Mac whose GPU and driver path can satisfy the project’s Vulkan 1.3 requirement through MoltenVK. macOS 14 alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Apple-silicon users should keep macOS updated and avoid assuming that an application tested on one chip generation represents every other model. Intel users should check the GPU model particularly carefully and retain the possibility that their machine may fall into the maintainer’s untested category.
Optional graphics features have higher conditions
The following features are enhancements, not launch requirements. A system can meet the baseline without providing any of them.
| Feature | Additional condition | Platform limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Ray-traced shadows, ambient occlusion and reflections | GPU and driver must support Vulkan ray queries | Unavailable on macOS |
| DLSS | Requires a GeForce RTX GPU | The project does not state a broader non-RTX path for DLSS |
| FSR and XeSS | Work on recent GPUs on Windows | The README does not establish equivalent availability on macOS |
Do not buy hardware for ray tracing or an upscaler unless you specifically want those optional features. They are not substitutes for the required Vulkan 1.3 support.
The port does not include P.T. content
You must provide your own usable files
PT-PC contains no game assets. You need your own usable P.T. files and remain responsible for obtaining them from a copy you are entitled to use. The developer’s build and test basis is the US release identified as CUSA01127.

Expected file forms
The README describes two usable forms for that US release: a dump folder or a fake PKG created from that dump. A normal store PKG downloaded for PlayStation 4 cannot be fed directly to the port because it is encrypted for the owning console.
European and Japanese releases
The documentation says European and Japanese releases install with a caveat, but the developer has not inspected their data. The US CUSA01127 release is therefore the only version with the project’s stated development and testing basis. If you try another region, a failure may reflect unverified data differences rather than a Windows, Linux, or macOS hardware problem.
Do you need a microphone?
No. A microphone can reproduce the voice-triggered section as it works on PlayStation 4, but it is optional. The documented workaround is to enable the microphone-trigger assignment in the port’s PC settings and, when prompted, press J on a keyboard or press both controller triggers.

A practical pre-install checklist
- Confirm the platform. Verify 64-bit Windows 10/11, x86-64 Linux, or macOS 14 or newer. On Linux, verify glibc 2.38 or later.
- Confirm Vulkan. Check that the GPU driver reports Vulkan 1.3. Update the driver through the normal operating-system or GPU-vendor channel if it does not.
- Separate baseline from extras. Treat ray queries, DLSS, FSR, and XeSS as optional capabilities. On macOS, ray-query features are unavailable.
- Prepare compatible content. Use your own files, preferably the US CUSA01127 dump in the folder or fake-PKG form documented by the project. Do not use an encrypted store PKG directly.
- Decide on voice input. Keep the microphone only if you want voice activation. Otherwise configure the microphone-trigger assignment and use J or both controller triggers.
- Keep expectations realistic. Because no CPU, RAM, storage, GPU-model, or performance minimum is published, do not infer that a particular budget specification is guaranteed to run the port.
How to diagnose a failure
The program will not start
Recheck the operating-system and architecture requirements first. On Linux, an old glibc is a direct incompatibility. On macOS, verify both macOS 14 and the GPU; an Intel Mac can also fall within the maintainer’s untested caveat.
“Vulkan” or graphics initialization errors
Verify the active driver, not merely the GPU name. The required baseline is Vulkan 1.3. On laptops, check which adapter the application is selecting. A driver exposing only an older Vulkan version cannot satisfy the project’s published requirement.
The game reports missing or invalid data
Check that the files are from a usable dump and that the release is the tested US CUSA01127 version. An encrypted store PKG is not a supported direct input. Regional releases may install, but their data has not been inspected by the developer.
Recommended Free Tools
A voice event does not respond
Use the documented fallback: enable the microphone-trigger assignment in PC settings, then press J or both controller triggers when the prompt appears. A microphone purchase is not the first troubleshooting step.
What is still unknown
The project documentation intentionally leaves several hardware questions unanswered. There is no official minimum CPU class, RAM amount, storage requirement, named GPU, VRAM requirement, or measured frame-rate target. Storage is necessarily needed for your own game dump and the installed port, but no capacity figure is published. Performance will therefore depend on the particular Vulkan driver, GPU, processor, resolution, and optional features rather than a documented tier chart.
That uncertainty is preferable to a fabricated specification. The dependable go/no-go checks are the supported operating system and architecture, Linux’s glibc floor where applicable, Vulkan 1.3 support, and possession of compatible game files. Everything beyond those checks should be treated as an individual compatibility question until a later release documents concrete numbers.
Quick Recap
Bottom line for each platform
- Windows: A 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 installation with a Vulkan 1.3-capable GPU and driver is the documented target.
- Linux: Use x86-64 with glibc 2.38 or newer and a working system Vulkan 1.3 driver; the README’s examples include Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39, current Arch, and SteamOS.
- macOS: Use macOS 14 or newer on Apple silicon or Intel with a compatible GPU path through MoltenVK. Intel support remains a maintainer-stated, not fully tested, case.
- All platforms: Supply your own compatible P.T. files, with US CUSA01127 as the developer’s tested basis. A microphone is optional.
