How these 2026 picks were judged
This is a set of platform and use-case recommendations rather than a single ranking. RTINGS says it has bought and tested more than 925 headphone and earbud pairs and names the Sony WF-1000XM6 its best wireless earbuds in an October 7, 2026 update. TechRadar’s overall pick follows more than 600 hours of testing. SoundGuys publishes measured noise-reduction and battery results for several models, while WIRED says its team tested hundreds of earbuds. Those methods and priorities differ, so the best choice for an iPhone owner or runner may not be the best laboratory performer.

RTINGS’ October 7, 2026 update places it at the top of its wireless-earbud ranking, highlighting top-tier noise isolation, strong call performance, more than eight hours of ANC battery life, and support for both LDAC and LC3 codecs.

SoundGuys measured an average 88% reduction in noise. That figure is a laboratory-style average, not a guarantee for every ear shape or frequency, but it indicates why these buds suit aircraft cabins, trains and busy offices. LDAC can carry higher-resolution Bluetooth audio with compatible Android hardware; LC3 is the newer Bluetooth LE Audio codec. Your phone and app must support the codec before it can be used.
Choose the Sony when
- You need the strongest combination of ANC, calls and battery endurance.
- You use an Android phone that can take advantage of LDAC or LC3.
- You want one pair for commuting, music and voice calls rather than a sport-specific design.
Best for sound, comfort and features: Technics EAH-AZ100
TechRadar names the EAH-AZ100 its current overall pick after more than 600 hours of testing. Its balanced sound, comfortable fit and triple-point Bluetooth are the main reasons to choose it. Triple-point Bluetooth allows the earbuds to maintain connections with three devices, useful if you switch between a phone, tablet and laptop.
Technics rates the earbuds for up to 12 hours on a charge and the case for up to 29 hours. Those are manufacturer endurance figures, so actual runtime varies with ANC, volume, codec and call use. TechRadar also notes that the ANC can be bettered by the Sony WF-1000XM6; choose the AZ100 for its sound and ergonomics rather than the lowest possible cabin noise.

Best mid-range ANC value: Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro
RTINGS identifies the Liberty 5 Pro as its best mid-range model. It blocks almost as much low-frequency rumble and mid-range speech as the Sony in RTINGS’ comparisons, making it a practical choice for commuting without moving to the highest premium tier.
RTINGS reports roughly seven hours of continuous battery life. The tuning is bassier than Sony’s, which can add impact to electronic, hip-hop and pop recordings but may not suit listeners who prefer a neutral presentation. Use the model’s equalizer controls, if available in its companion software, to adjust that balance to your taste.
Best for Samsung phones: Galaxy Buds4 Pro
Galaxy Buds4 Pro is the ecosystem choice. SoundGuys reports improved ANC, an average 84% noise reduction, IP57 water resistance, head gestures and deep One UI integration. The IP57 rating protects against dust and temporary immersion under the rating’s test conditions; it does not make the earbuds appropriate for swimming or charging while wet.

Several of the distinctive functions require a recent Samsung phone. On another Android handset or an iPhone, the buds can still play audio, but the Samsung-only controls and integrations that justify this pick may not be available. For Galaxy owners who value hands-free gestures and system-level features, that trade-off can outweigh a small difference in raw ANC results.

Best for workouts: Beats Powerbeats Pro 2
The Powerbeats Pro 2 uses an earhook to anchor each bud, a design advantage when ordinary in-ear tips loosen during running, lifting or interval training. Tom’s Guide quotes fitness expert Nick: “I genuinely believe that the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 are outstanding sports headphones and would be top of my list for people who need an earhook to keep their buds in place during runs and other workouts.”
Tom’s Guide reports ANC, heart-rate monitoring and 10 hours of earbud battery life. The earhooks add stability but also create a larger profile than conventional true-wireless earbuds; check that the hook sits comfortably around your ear before committing to long sessions.

Best for Android longevity: Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 5
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 is unusual because both earbuds and the charging case have swappable batteries. SoundGuys measured 6 hours 17 minutes with ANC enabled. Replacement cells are proprietary, and fitting them requires a small screwdriver, so this is repairability for owners willing to perform a hardware replacement rather than a tool-free user service.
That design can extend the useful life of the set when the original batteries wear out, avoiding the common failure mode in which sealed true-wireless earbuds become impractical to use. How to choose among the finalists
